I'm the kind of guy who loves to tipple a few quality brewski's while playing video games. However, with GT5, I'm finding that the alcohol definitely screws my lap times, and have been imbibing much less in order to maintain the competitive edge (into cola tea now). It also makes me more aware of how much alcohol would affect real driving. Just curious if anyone else out there is giving up the Great Lakes Christmas Ales in exchange for milk and gold at the finish line?

I've noticed it too. Makes even Monza a destruction derby for me. So, I drunk play Black Ops instead!! LOL.

Some guy did a "scientific study" on here. I doubt I'll find the thread but his lap times went up in his RM ZR1 as he drank more.

"Vodka with a Spritzer" . . . I am just 15 yrs old. I dont drink.

(Props goes to the person who can figure out, where I got that quote from.)

Lap times always go up until the crash then the go down quickly : ) I also let Bob drive for me he is messed up straight but that is just how he is.

Too busy stuffing cookies in my mouth for any chance of liquid to find a way in... 👍

Drinkin some high-quality beer is awesome for GT5, I just make sure not to attempt the FGT Championship and give myself a hp handicap in races.

Yeah GT5 and Dirt 2 are the only times I drink and drive. However when it gets too bad I also switch to Black Ops.

You better believe it! Usually only if I'm playing online with a chill lobby, though.

I will say that for the most part, I don't. It's the nature of when I'm playing versus when I drink. I usually only play in the morning before work, and I don't ever drink then. I usually drink right when I get off work (there's really nothing like cracking open one or two cold ones after a long day!), but since I almost always head straight to Mrs. Villain's place after work--and there isn't a PS3 there--I'm drinking without "driving."

That being said, if for some reason I find myself at home, not planning on goin' anywhere, and not really taking GT Life too seriously (grinding for credits, messing around online, etc.), there's nothing stopping me from emptying out the 'fridge! 👍

Haven't when playing GT yet but I do occasionally when I'm playing Black Ops with the guys online. Definitely makes for great killcam replays haha

Sippin' some Pilsner as I type this, just after winning another gold. I find virtual driving (and Black Ops) is like pool - a beer or 3 might actually improve my skills slightly, but just a little too much, and I quickly begin to suck.

That's no to say I'm about to cut back on beer, though. I just know when I can't stay off the wall, it's time to give Bob a go. Perhaps that's why I'm at level 21 & he's at 28.

Nothin wrong with a few beers hanging out in the lounge with a couple buddies doin the same thing. Drag racing the tunnels :)

Mine did too, although it was a 458 not a ZR1. I wasn't "drunk" but if it were real driving I would definitely be going to jail.. lol

Probably got better because I knew I had to focus more and hit everything right cause the alcohol was affecting me. Wasn't to the point where the alcohol was driving instead of me :sly:

I just downed a bomber of a strong IPA (Hop Rod Rye), and about to fire up the PS3. So we’ll see how this goes. :D

There was a piece in autosport magazine before Xmas and it was Darren Turner using a pro sim rig. He set a control time then he he had 5 stella's drove again then virtually wrote the car off.

My mate always knows when I'm drinking. He says its the only time he can beat me, not that I'm bragging. I don't drink n drive in real life though cause i spill to much.

1:
2: WTF?

You wouldn't D&D IRL because you would spill too much? I would assume the legal issues would be more of a factor.

I am sure he was just kidding, personally i don't drink and drive IRL but I do love my Jack when playing GT:drool:

No Jack for me, Knob Creek all the way!
I have found one or two and my times go up a bit, but more than that and crash and burn. 👍

I actually managed to gold a lot of the license tests after a few drinks :). I couldn't gold them when I was sober , for me it gives me more confidence so I can push the car's a lot harder. After a few more drinks though I tend to be a lot worse than when I am sober so the improvements are short lived.

I always drink beer, whether or not I'm playing games.

A nice glass of whisky at the end of the evening is also not uncommon.

Video Games, the only legal, and SAFE way to drive drunk. That said I haven't tried GT5 while drunk, but I have driven with a pretty good buzz a couple of times and found it actually improved my rhythm in longer races.
