After a bottle or two of Peroni my confidence with driving at insane speeds grows but conversely I become more accident prone - all in GT5 of course. Trying to do a lap of Nordschleife while very refreshed isn't much fun, but a couple of beers and its a chilling thing.

It's similar when stoned but the opposite, heightened senses usually mean good and very precise lap times for me. Nothing like enjoying some green while driving on the green hell :)

I think I drink less beer when playing GT5, too busy trying to win races. I need one of them beer helmets.

or Bob entertains me while I have a few Arrogant Bastard ales!

I never drink and drive; not in RL not while playing FM3 or GT5.. This is caused by the fact that i hate the smell and taste of the substance named: Alcohol.

Coming from the Netherlands though; we are allowed to do some other stuff. And i like that other stuff ALOT! Also it makes my drifting a lot better too. Pitty is that that positive effect wears out after 15 minutes or so, and then i cant concentrate anymore.. Solution: do some more!!

I like to drink a few Shiner Black Lagers while sitting behind the Ole G25. I find it relaxing and with a few in the blood stream I find myself taking chances I wouldn't sober! If a few turn into a few more then I let Bob take the wheel, sometimes I think Bob has had more than me though?

I came home from the bar last Sat. and finished the last two race of the dream car championship with my minolta toyota on circuit de le sarthe and nurburgring and it was hilarious but I finished 2nd and 1st respectively and got gold for the championship. On the straights I'd be off the road left then off the road right and I couldn't even come close to slowing down for the first corners after straightaways and the last 2 laps of nurburgring I kind of wanted it to end. it was an awesome experience because it's not real driving. I suggest for everyone to try it it's real funny, unless of course you're one of those people who takes this game entirely too seriously. If only I would have saved my laps.

As someone who day dreams alot when playing and IRL, a beer or three suprisingly helps me focus, odd that...

Only on the weekends and that will be a Jack and Coke 👍 Have one and I am still holding the line but more than that time to assign Bob the driving duties.

Saw there was that human stopwatch trophy and tried to get it driving an easy challenge sober, was seconds difference, not close.
Had game round my mates and was pretty drunk, randomly driving 787 making different mistakes on each lap- 5 lap race, won the trophy I was like WTF! Appears I'm a more consistent driver when drunk lol

In reality I never drink & drive, but mainly because I was a paramedic and I've seen some really bad **** what can happen when drinking & driving.

However at new years eve (31/12 ; 1/1) I got really bad drunk and blacked out at about 4 am. When I woke up at about 2 pm and started gt5 I saw that I beat most of my times on the training tracks by 5-10 seconds with the same cars I used for the times before. I can't remember anything, not even how I got home, but I was astonished at the times. I tried to beat them sober again but can't do it.

I do drink every now and then when I race. I did get a lot of my golds on licence tests on GT4 after I'd been drinking because the state I was in meant I wasn't going to give up on them as easy.

I always drink while driving

2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom connected by covalent bonds. In other words, water

In the evening I tend to:
* Put GT5 on
* Pour a good dram (Whisky)

Generally the quantities of alcohol (about 5 cc) do not influence my driving.

However when we go a bit far that evening (Gin & Tonic + Wine + Whisky) it gets impossible to something serious. Only B-Spec still goes then.

I drink not often while playing games, but i like to smoke some funny cigarettes. but honestly i dont get much worse until the point, where my skill is gone completely :D

Without a doubt it affected my driving. While racing online one night I went from running mid pack for a couple of hours in a one room to every race being 1/4 of a lap behind. And that was only 4 beers. Geez I'm a light weight.

I like to down a few brewskis while doing nurburgring hotlaps. I find that my times improve for the first two or three, and then starts to go downhill. The initial relaxation before actual impairment of coordination kicks in can be beneficial. Beyond that, it's not so good.

Funny that "MADD member" is an option in the poll. More like MACC: MoFos Against Corner Cutting! I actually don't like playing video games when I drink. I just get bored. I'd rather listen to music or watch a flick when drinking. On the other hand, herbal refreshments def increase my focus. Nothing like a little gamery when properly lit.

my GT chair has a decent size table to attach the wheel to. It isn't uncommon at all to have piles of empties stacked in front of me while playing. It's like a badge of honor....... until it gets smelly then I start over.

👍

I'm surprised it took someone this long to mention it.

These guys did mention it:

Maybe you didn't notice, too busy rolling, maybe? JK.

Tried it the other evening, killed 1/4 bottle of wine in the process.

The biggest issue for me was the numbness, and later on the laziness started to settle in.

All the way back to GT1 my good friend (now my brother in law) and I used to call a "DUI night" where we would race split screen on an OLD (and I mean OLD) console TV up on a coffee table and drink Coors Gold.

Now, many years later, with kids and wives we dont do that any more. We have a few spirits but the true DUI nights no longer exist. When the do, its on another gaming platform with each of us safely at home.

Right now the preferred brew is a Bells HopSlam!

My performance increases significantly when I drink and shoot (fps's) but deteriorates as I drive in GT5 and become more intoxicated.

Lesson: if I could calm my nerves while playing fps's without hindering my decision making abilities I would be a mean mamma jamma behind the gun. And don't drink and drive.

Tried it last night, 2 player on the nordschleife. Have to add that we couldn't even stand up straight anymore. So yes, it was alot of fun.. felt like a lawnmower though
