I've driven both irl..
Lambo: Imagine you're in the car..
In front of you, a huge dashboard, huge window poles (A-poles?), bad vision, you basically feel trapped in something big..
Ferrari: Imagine you're in the car again..
In front of you, there's nothing but road.. You, and the road, nothing else.
Imo, the Ferrari F430 is a much much better experiance.. The Gallardo is like driving an AUDI.. It honestly is.. Nothing special at all. Apart from the speed ofc.. It's fast. no doubt.
Someone said it earlier, the F430 is a drivers car.. And that's so true! 👍
Imo, go for the Ferrari! 👍
A Gallardo feels big to you? Huge dashboard? Please elaborate on the Audi a Gallardo feels like driving b/c I can't remember the R8 even coming remotely close to driving this.
It's hard to take your comparison seriously by your choice of words as well, because you went straight to the "negatives" of the Gallardo's size & feel, & then simply commented on 1 aspect of the F430 as being "nothing but road". Brilliance!
The simple truth is the Gallardo only appears "huge" because it's a more sleek design. It's smaller in height, wheelbase, length, & width. The "trapped" comment is probably because the F430 lacks a center console, so it's a much more open interior. But, if being in a snug-fitting car means "trapped", I'd rather be trapped on the track than not.
What Gallardo did you happen to drive by chance? A 5.0 or 5.2 model?
Because the latter is a different type of beast to drive, much more so than a F430. It's more raw & takes quite a high level of skill to drive it on its edge. That's not to take away from the F430, but being a RWD car, it doesn't take long to find where the traction limit is if you push it & when you do, you can recover it, being you know how. The Gallardo is a much more difficult car to find its limit at because the 30/70 power split has a tendency to make the car feel like a RWD car until you lose the rear end & you realize the car bites back hard.
I'll make it clear that I'm not disagreeing in the fact that the F430 is a better driver's car, b/c it really does a fantastic job at relaying feedback perfectly to the driver so he knows where he can & can't push the car. But, I prefer the rawness of the Lamborghini because the VT system is a double edge sword; it builds a lot of confidence the more you push it in the corners until you've pushed too hard & the car fights you as you try to recover it. It's like a Viper almost in that it punishes you. The rest of the car is very raw: it's very loud, it shifts hard & just propels you into your seat, & it's very tough to find to the limits of the brakes & the steering without going too far. But, when you do find it & can put it altogether, it's an extremely rewarding & fun car to drive. You definitely can not jump in it & expect to know what it feels like to drive it fast just because it's an AWD car.
No, my disagreement is in the way you chose to compare them & the ignorant Audi statement, which I believe stems from fact that Audi owns Lamborghini now & shares a lot of technology rather than based on anything valid. The
only Audi that a Gallardo will feel like is a R8, but that's impossible because the Gallardo came first before both the 4.8 R8 (by 2 years) & the 5.2 R8 which came at the end of 2008 whilst the LP560-4 was developed in 2007 & revealed in March 2008. A Gallardo feels like a Gallardo, nothing else.
