Black, white and red racesuit with red stitching. Some fire retardent Jordan Air 1's matching the suit and a red helmet with a black tribal pattern.

Well...at least we'll have different colours of Stigs, so it won't be too bad.

Just an afterthought, I wonder if GT franchise would move beyond the avatar and allow us to customize our own garage as well. Obviously not a full-blown scale to build one from the scratch and create the ones in the video, but wow...those would be some nice photomode locations. 👍

Automodellista had customizable garages. You picked one of three or four themes as Your garage and as You progressed in game You unlocked tools, cabinets, benches, tireracks, sand blasters, oildrums, posters, jackstands and what not. Everything a growing racer needs. There was even stuff available to turn the garage into a lounge.
It was a nice feature in a kinda' cool game with Manga-style (?) graphics, marvellous Japanese mountain roads for point to point races and "Wangan-style" expressways for circuit racing. Lots of real world tuner parts to build You a seriously souped up domestic (Japanese cars only in a Japanese setting).
But it was way too arcade-ish to enjoy properly. Fun ended fast.

I actually had fun with it for a while. And I LOVED decorating my garage and cars. Still have the game, never play it anymore though.

I would imagine once you set certain aspects of your avatar, like their actual human physical eatures, you wouldn't be able to adjust that again. However things like racing suits and other clothing I would imagine should remain open.

This would make more sense, in general.
Unfortunately, "clothing" was specifically mentioned in the translation. Perhaps there is some sort of ambiguity / idiomatic flexibility between the terms, but it doesn't look good.

Yea. I'm hoping that maybe there was some kind of disfunction there and that the info was off and we really do get to chnage our avatar's clothing. Again, hopes. see what happens on release of either the game or further info.

Plus, I know they said they aren't going to release any dlc, but what about updates. i mean they did it with GT5P. I wonder what the possibilty is on loosening that restriction later on after release.

Again if Tourist Trophy acts as an indicator this could very well be an option as in TT you could choose vintage leather racing suits and an old helmet/driving gloves as well ( for the classic bikes ) and more casual wear ( a selection of jeans/ leather boots/ jackets ) in several styles.
Does anyone remember that leather jacket with the skeleton graphic on both sides?

It was the retro outfit from TT I had in mind, but I've only seen it in pictures on here. Do you have to get a certain license or have to gold a license to unlock them?

To be honest I can't remember ( there probably are enough here who will though ) as I played that game for months and months ( or even years perhaps ) after it came out which seems a long time ago.
I did gold all the licences but can't remember which one unlocked that vintage racing suit ( or whether you needed gold or silver for it ).

Edit, it might be unlocked simultaneously with the '61 Honda RC162.

I'd love to be able to re-create this-

👍

Including the Tag Heuer Monaco hopefully.

I remeber some pics have shown the Avatar with the visor up....

Not just talking about the real Pro drivers, but a regular dude in a GTR

Watches are an essential accessory for a racing Avatar.
Heuer Monaco. Very good! But I would have to go with cousin Autavia now, wouldn't I? One 11063v "PVD" grey, with grey face please.
That and a matching pair of Randolph Aviator shades.

Don't ask me why, but GT5 is reminding me of the Sims all of a sudden.
Except with cars.:sly:

Aside from that, this does look very cool.

But can you imagine the Sims having these? ;)

Wishful thinking perhaps but still would be a nice touch.

i hope we'll get a pshome like avatar so u make a figurine with ajustable clothing.

It would be cool if they integrated pseye support so you could import your own face onto your avatars head. But thats just wishful thinking from someone with a pseye sitting idle at the moment. Plus, it would be pointless if your guy is wearing a helmet 90% of the time.

The thing I don't want is racing my JGTC Supra or other racecar in casual clothing.

Perhaps casual wear is prohibited in racing cars? We don't know yet, but seeing as this game is referred to as a simulator by its creators I would not be surprised if You - as a few examples - have to wear the correct Redbull colors while racing the C4 WRC, or any one of Mattias Ekstroms three "confirmed" cars: the DTM ABT Audis and NASCAR #83 Toyota Camry.

btw:
Does any other driver have more cars in GT5 than Mattias Ekstrom? Even counting japanese GT/endurance drivers?
The Audi R8 GT3 is in the game, but is it a 2010 VLN Nürburgring 24h car, and does it carry "gumball" No. 100? Well, then he's got four.
Way off topic, but this would qualify as a legitimate thread on GTP, would it not?
Most present real world driver in GT5?

<--- <--- <--- Cannot post new thread yet.

Ok, but what about driving your classic cars then? I think all racingcars will have their manufacturers clothing. Same could be when you are racing your 'normal' cars. Maybe the clothing will only be available when you are driving in photomode or timetrail?

We know too little about this feature to arrive at any solid conclusion yet, the message displayed which suggested the clothing choice to be final once selected could be true, partly true or just poorly translated.
My guess is that it will be somewhat similar to Tourist Trophy, whereby certain racing bikes ( Suzuka 8hours bikes for example ) could only be driven with rider suits specifically for that bike, once you selected those bikes you automatically rode them in that suit.
The roadbikes ( and a lot of other racebikes ) could be riden in any type of rider suit selected.
Maybe most cars and racecars could be driven on a free run ( or time trial ) around a track in any racing suit or casual clothing of your choice ( maybe a racing suit only becomes mandatory when entering an event ), and only those racingcars which in real life are driven with a specific team outfit ( F1, NASCAR, SuperGT, etc., etc. ) automatically change to those outfits like those TT bikes.

Mattias Ekstroms three comfirmed cars????

Two of Ekströms DTM cars are in. 2002 Abt TT-R debuted in GT Concept Tokyo-Geneva and the 2004 Abt Audi A4 was included in GT4.
The third, the 2010 #83 Red Bull Toyota Camry, is a bit of a construction, I admit. Ekstrom subbed twice for Brian Vickers on extended sick leave: Infineon and Richmond.
After consulting the GT5 Master Car List on this planet all three are in.

Again. I think this is an interesting topic worthy it's own thread.

Well maybe you wear team colors for Race cars and then casual selection for road machines. Even so, I'd still want to change clothes on a whim.

Actually please do that in a changing room. We don't need to see that online :D

I remember that in TT you could have 4 riding gear presets. 2 for competition bikes, 2 for sport/casual/classic bikes. It shouldn't be that hard to implement that in GT5, after all, that's known territory for PD.

Anyway, it's not something I find necessary, but I wouldn't complain about having it either.

If they could do it, it would be nice to have it. If not, I'm pretty sure it will be in GT6.

Peace.

The Driver customisation will probably be like, Tourist Trophy and it seems likely that for Production cars you can have a Normal bloke when driving in a photo drive or in arcade you can probably choose

I hope you dont have to wear safety clothing for free runs and stuff. I always think it looks dumb wearing a firesuit and helmet in a stock civic. Im hoping for some paisley shirts and weyfarers sunnies!
