I got really lucky. Bought one that was originally bought at Fnac (madeira) on 16/11/2011 witch means it is almost brand new, Of course there is the risk associated with everything you buy online but I figured well, I will never buy it for a price above 200€ so I took a shot at it.

Thats great even if you have some sort of problem with it, you can send it to Logitech and you will have a brand new wheel... Logitech's customer service is by far the best of all the 3 major brands out there. (Logitech, Thrustmaster and Fanatec)

Nice. Just read this thread about a half hour ago, already did the mod. Very easy, longest part was looking for my pliers,:). Prior to this, I was using the bungie and now it feels as good if not better and the bungie is not in the way, thanks again for the find.

I also use the bungie mod and previously used the foam or sponge ball and from the two mods I would have to say that the bungie mod is the best... you can adjust tension and you dont get pieces of foam dirtying the inside of the pedals but it does look rather ugly... does this mod you did really feel as good as the bungie mod? and did you do it to just one spring or did you strech the black sprin also? and can you also mod the throtle?

Used both

DFGT - Wheel works very well, VERY easy to navigate with buttons on wheel, adjust dials on the fly is awesome. Feedback is very good, kinda noisy though. Shifter is decent, pedal are meh.

G27 - Feedback very good, shifter very good, pedals very good. MAJOR downfall is the navigation/buttons, trying to get around the menu on a G27 is horrible, but once your driving its great.

I can actually drift better with a G27, seems more "fluid", but the ease of the menu buttons and price leans me to the DFGT.

Guess the question is how hardcore are you?

I used to use bungie, and yes it is just as good, better I think because you cant see it and it's not in the way.
Yes you can mod the throtle as well, I just didnt.👍

So far I have only modified the brake silver spring. The ''clunk'' from the black spring is still there but not as strong, could be placebo effect.

The first thing I tried before bending the silver spring was wrap the end of the spring to make it thicker, thinking it might take up that gap, but did not work to well, as the springs sit inside a narrow part of the bottom cover mold. Perhaps someone can come up with an idea to prevent the bending of the spring?

The bungie mod is the easiest and does offer good results, I just did not like the strain it put on my pedal, I felt it wasn't natural for the pedal to have that pressure pulling from one side.

Other idea would be to fill the gap in the plastic mold, but it does have an angle so I'd rather not.
