I just use it when I want to pretend I'm driving an old school beetle or vette, which are slow anyways.

That's the only time that I'll be using it...
Driving my VW Golfs around the 'ring.

As for being smoother, I believe the helical gears do make it smoother. I could feel the gears grinding in my DFGT, I never feel that in my G27. Again, just my experience.

Definitely helical gears are used in transmissions and keep quiet. Then you put it in reverse (a normal gear) it wines like a baby.

I ha e a DFGT, don't pay much attention to the noise as I got my surround sound overloading it. I'm interested in how the TM compares to the 2 as it's the expensive wheel designed for GT.

Helical gears make it smoother,

Agree with Mr skazz there.. G25/G27 is not fully supported by GT5, unlike DFGT or T500RS. Its about how the wheel can translate road surface.

anyone who's tried both would have a 25/27 the only reason for a dfgt is cost.

id like to add the feedback in gt5 is generally pretty **** compared to say live for speed

From my experience there is absolutly no difference in road surface "detail" just the way the feedback is applied, the g25 has a smoother indication of grip than the dfgt by a long shot.

The feedback strength setting also does not work on the G27. You can change it in the menu but it has no effect, only on the G25.

I would disagree with that. I dropped it from like one of the higher numbers down to 1 and noticed a dramatic difference when driving the X1 at Suzuka in the Vettel challenge.

Have a DFGT in house and had a G27.

G27 is a better wheel on all points.

DFGT still a great wheel but it doesn't translate the feel as well as the g27.

I'm a bit confused with this post and your previous one regarding FFB. Did you mean it the settings does not work on G25 or G27? On your previous post you stated that it does not work on G27, but on this one it does?

I have a G27 and my ffb settings works.

Sorry, I meant the FFB settings only work on the G25 and not the G27. You can go into the menu and adjust the settings but they don't have any effect on the G27. 1 is the same FFB as 10.

I'll have to check this out. In the past it made no difference but perhaps this is one of the things that slid in under the radar with one of the updates. I haven't bothered to check it since around January, shortly after I got the G27.

I think your wheel have a problem, cause mine gets very different with FFB set to 0, to 10.

My nephew is giving his first laps, he is 3 years old, and he can't play with FFB10. I always have to reduce to 0, so he can turn and won't hurt at a hit.

This was right above your post.

Never tried it when I owned the G27. 10 always. Give me all you got. Hahaha prob not good thought process. Maybe I should try a lesser setting sometime. Might get a feeling that I like better. However I am pleased with the manual rack feel I get from 10.

given the diversity of opinions on whether the FFB controls work for the G-27 perhaps they only work in some modes: GTLife but maybe not arcade for example
and yes..I'm too lazy to turn around and fiddle with mine...it produces wonderful FFB and only drives me crazy when it decides an impact means the steering should no longer center

/\ are using damage? If so even light it will off set the wheel when dmg is done to either side up front. This is your off center.

If no damage then umm warranty that thing. Mine never did anything like that.

DFGT has another advantage which is the reason I own the wheel: it's a little more convenient to set up and put away. I have my G27 and sometimes my Fanatec wheel set up on my Obutto but I used my DFGT on a stand to race in front of the TV.

I know with button remapping it can be done, but I do also like the on wheel adjuster. It's so convenient for AWD tuning & adjusting the brakes. It's all real time so as you make the selection the change is done without hitting enter. I've been able to fine tune a few cars like that and it's great. Just too bad we can't adjust dampers with it or get a Boost Controler.
