Driving Force Pro, G25 or Driving Force GT?

well have the dfp now and its totally worn out!!!right gearshift button broken,ffb fails in mid corners!!!very anoying!!
so i have tried the g25 and love the wheel but hate the h-shifter!!
as my job is in transport i drive all kind of cars every day(from vans till ferraris!)and i do that for more than 15years....so i think i know how a h-shifter feels and works..well the h-shifter the g25 has is complete rubbish in my opinion!!!i meen it sounds like playmobile(click clack,plastic)and there is absolutely no resistance in the stick!!so,even though i love how the g25 wheel feels and drives,the h-shifter ruins it all for me personally!!!!!!

but im 100% sure there will be an updated fersion of the g25 when gt5 comes out n4ext year,i will buy the new dfgt for the time being....it is just the best thing for me untill a better h-shifting wheel comes out!!spyrrari.
 
It is? I know it wasnt an option in GT:HD. And people on youtube using G25 pressed it just because they are used to :D Having DF GT without 3rd pedal and H-shifter then is kinda...erm, stupid?
 
I may switch over as I like the G25 but don't bother with the clutch or the shifter. The shifter really is a waste of space, as someone else said it's a cheap piece of plastic with no feel whatsoever and the clutch doesn't have any feel to it at all making it too pretty useless. On my Sparco GT Cockpit there isn't room to mount it either.

My reason for switching would be that I find it very inconvenient to have to use a separate controller for the buttons (particularly ghost-on/off and restart) and having everything mounted on the wheel would be nice.

I do have the pedals mounted independently so I'd probably just wire those up to the new controller since they seem to be much nicer (the G25 pedals) than the ones that come with the GT.

The proof really will come down to actually trying it out. The G25 is a huge improvement over the DFP in terms of quietness and smoothness and I wouldn't switch if the GT isn't as good. Also I'm a bit unsure about the paddle shifters on the GT, I can't tell exactly where they are and how easy they are to reach, what kind of feel they have.

And the horn ... life's too short to not go tooting your opponents as you pass them :D

What NFS did you play? I tried the NFS pro street demo on my ps3 and the pedals didnt work. Does it work in the full version?

the shifter and clutch both work after an update on the full version.

Make sure you let everyone here know how it compares, because not many people would give up their g25 like that. :)

The h-game only makes a small clicking noise in each gear, not bad, but the sequential mode is silent.

The Clutch + Shifter would make more noise, however you could use the paddles at night, and more importantly, the G25 wheel is much, MUCH quieter.

I've been using a DFP for a little over 3 years (not constantly, but I've had it that long...) and upgraded to a G25 (arrived this Tuesday)

The G25 is much nicer to use, everything from simply the feel of the wheel (size, materials) to the force feedback, the pedals, the overall quality of the whole thing, and as I hinted at earlier, the fact it doesn't make so much of that whirring noise makes it a lot quieter.

Also, it has a much lower pitch whir to it, and is hardly perceptible whilst actually racing now, whereas before I was always a bit concious of the racket coming from the DFP. I've only really noticed the low pitch whir when it does its initial calibration to be honest.

It also seems to rotate a bit quicker, by which I mean, when you're slinging the car sideways, it seems to spin to self correct as it should do more quickly, so it again feels that little bit more realistic.

The FFB is of a lower overall strength, well, I think brutality is a better word, than the DFP. I think the DFP lacked some of the subtlety that the G25 expresses, although I haven't expressly checked whether the FFB level in GT5 : P has reset itself to default as I'm using a different wheel now (I set it to 10 for the DFP, I know you use the DFP menu to set up the G25, but haven't verified in there that things are set up as before...)

I've only had the G25 since Tuesday of this week, and haven't had much playing time, but I'm loving it so far :)

If you have any more questions about comparisons between the two, feel free to ask, I've had a lot of experience using the DFP with LFS, GT3, GT4 and about a week (had to get back my 'feel' for drifting, so a fair few turns ;) ) on GT5 : P.

But (and it's the only but) the shifter noise would rise along the hard situations on online races, I know I couldn't resist using the shifter with power. Although, it is good to know, that the wheel itself is much more quiet. I hope DF GT is upgraded that way also..

Prologue has adjustable force feedback 0-10.When using G25 on 10,it's great.If it's weaker than DFP(don't know),doesn't matter,I feel the stregth is quite big.A LOT bigger than Pdemo.:)

The ffb on the G25 in GT5p is NOT great its very weak, but i think the problem is in the game and not the wheel. I play GTR2 a lot and the ffb is outstanding in that game and is impossible to drive with maxed force so the wheel isnt weak.
I think that the ffb in gt5p over all is'nt very good with a G25. If GT5P was the only game i played i would get another wheel.
 
I have had all the other wheels. and the biggest problem with everyone exept the G25 is that the throttle or the break gets deffected after a while.. i have had both.. GT wheel had an error in the break, this resulted that the break was on 10% all the time.

Other wheels i had the same problem with the gas pedal.
i tried to open the box up and clean it, but it did not work.

I strongly recomend the G25 wheel.(the base and steering is made in metal)
 
if i am just going to play GT5P and GT5 when it comes out wich weel would you recommend me getting

The g25 wheel is supported by polyphony you can select it in the game menu.
I have the japanese imported version of the game and use a g25 its amazing.
The g25 is logitechs top of the range wheel and is much better than the other two.
Its got two motors for forcefeedback and a H-type gearchange unit it also has a clutch pedal.
Prologue supports the gearchange and the clutch.

are you sure it is in the ingame menu because i have the european version
and there is only drivingforce EX,driving force pro and the driving force GT i fail to see a G25 in the menu or is the g25 only in the japenese version
 
I have a DFP at the moment, but I'm leaning to get a G25 wheel. The DFP is nice but I tried a G25 and really liked the feel of the wheel and pedals in comparison.

Yeah, I don't recall seeing the G25 in GT5P. I will confirm this when I get home this evening.

I have both the G25 and the Older DFPRo(that game with GT4)

Its purely down to Budget/Simulation level.

The major differences between the two are:

Pro = Light Weight.
G25 = Heavy

Pro = More Detailed Vibration/Rumble(drive on grass)
G25 = STRONGER. 10 hurts almost. But, the Rumble programming isn't as detailed. I feel like you can feel the road a BIIIIT better with the PRO.

Pro = Less Noise
G25 = Clanking Clutch/Gearshift and the servo's or turning mechanism is louder than the Pro, but that might be a weight issue.

The G25 wins if you want to use a 6spd, and feel like you've REALLY accomplished something. It just feels great to drive in the game like your normally drive in real life. Shifting and all.
The DFPro wins if you use sequential/automatic. Bang for buck as well. Really feel the road/grass/bumper surfaces. Really enjoy the game this way as well


might help if you are deciding between those two. I'm sure the GT has even better Vibration programming than the DFpro.
 
I recently got a G25 and really wanted to test the function of the clutch so I fired up
GTP for NR2003 which I hadn't played for a long time. Heel-toe is a must with this game if you turn off automatic clutch.
I have fallen in love with GTP all over again and I owe it to the G25. The best racing experience I've ever had I think. (Yet to try it with other sims to see if heel -toe is such a requirement with no auto clutch).
 
Which one of the two has the more realistic pedals.
My concern is for the pedal set more than the steering.
I need more than 2 pieces of plastic that uses soft springs for resistance force.

oooohhh...the DFP is a bit noisy and I was hoping the G25 would have been quieter in comparison for day to day use. :(
 
I've got the driving force GT. It's my first force-feedback wheel, and I love it. It's like a whole different game. And I like the knob that lets you change settings on the fly.
 
Just recently upgraded from Driving Force Pro to G25 and wow, the game experience is so much better with the H Shifter and Clutch.

Still learning to heal toe fast enough to do quick multiple down shifts :)

If the DFGT is anything like the Driving Force Pro, the G25 is many miles better.

On the subject of noise, the G25 motor seems quieter and smother then the DFP. But depending on how you clutch and shift, you could make more noise. Anyways like someone else said you can use the paddles and sequential shifting when you don't want to make too much noise at night.
 
Anybody know when the DFGT comes out in the UK ive searched around and nothing to say when it does i know its out in the US though bit confused really!
 
It's not out in the UK yet? It's been out in Australia for a while now and we usually get things when the UK does.
 
I recently purchased the DF GT and it is so much better than the old DF pro. It rekindled my love for the game. I heard from a video review from insidesimracing that the motors on the DF GT are reworked from the G25, and are considered by the video guy to be the best feedback experience logitech has made. I've never used a g25, but the dimensions/smoothness/quietness of the DF GT seem great.
