Seems simple enough, however ... When i copy an MP3 format sound file onto my USB device, it does not show up on the PS3 when i plug it in. Any reason why this won't show up? Any help appreciated.

I believe the USB has to be formatted as FAT32. If you are using a mac, this will not be the default.

Then you import it into the PS3 via the XMB.

OK just checked, the format of my USB is in fact FAT32. So why can't i see the music on my USB when i insert it to the PS3?

Your most likely scenario is that you're just clicking show music.

Try this. Hover over the USB under the Music Tab, then hit triangle, Click Show Files, and then try finding it.

Put the USB in and for some reason dont press the USB stick ...

INSTEAD press triangle and press 'show all' I think it is off the top of my head and it will all be there then ... the triangle, copy to send it to your XMB :)

Lifesaver. Thank you.

Also to add for anyone else that needs help with this, you must add a folder called PS3, add one inside that called MUSIC, and add mp3 files to that folder. Then do what iHealy said.

Cheers mate!

Not quite on point, but if you're running Windows 7 on your PC and the PS3 is on the same network, the PS3 will detect the PC as a media server. You can then copy the music from the PC without the USB intermediary.
