Agh! The torture.

Ok, well im sure most of you know the story, and if you dont, go search for a thread called "My position in life." and you'll know.

Anywho, im supposed to go start my moms car every once and a while (every couple days) so that it doesnt die before she gets out (shes getting out on the 14th btw! :D)..

Every time i go out there and start it.. I wish SO badly i could drive, so i coudl go take a drive. I want to drive baddd....

If i had half a mind id take the chance while nobody was home (right now) and go for a drive, but im not going to do that, as i half a WHOLE mind. If i was caught driving (by a cop) i wouldnt be able to get my license until 21.

So for now i have to have the car sit there and tease me that i cant drive it every time i let it set and run (im in the car, too, ofcourse, listening to music.)

Anybody else get this feeling, ever? :(

If a cop catches you in the driver's seat with the vehicle turned on you'll still get in trouble. Might as well take 'er for a spin.:p

I remember 3 or 4 years ago when I was 14 I was driving my dad's 2 month old BMW 328i around with a friend(while my dad was off flying somewhere), and an Isle of Palms Police officer followed me around on the Isle of Palms for about 10 minutes. I knew he was following because I was taking the most rediculous turns imaginable. I went in circles through some neighborhood I was so nervous. He quit following once we went back to my neighborhood(Wild Dunes: gated neighborhood with security guards, can't get in unless you live there). They wouldn't allow him in because he didn't have a good enough reason to enter.

Anyways, it's hard to say whether or not it's worth it. It's DEFINITELY NOT worth it if you get caught by a cop(depending on your age. If you're like 9 they'll let you off, but if you're 14 you're screwed). I got caught by my dad about the 4th time I took his car. For me, I'd have to say it was worth it, because all I got from him was a lecture. He just kept saying stuff like, "I can't believe you took my car. I'm so dissapointed in you. Etc." I felt like **** after our talk, and never took his car again without permission.

Blah blah blah ramblin' ramblin' ramblin'...:D

Tell us what kind of car it is, and we'll tell you if it's worth it or not. If it's a pinto, fock no it's not worth it, but if it's a damn Ferrari or something...

Here's a story that will end your temptation, and it's true:

A 15-year-old kid in my school took his dad's month-old Cadillac out for a spin while the father was away. He drove around a little, then stopped for a train crossing to let a freight thrain go by. While he was waiting, he got fiddling with the radio, and bent over too look at the dashboard a little closer. His foot relaxed on the brake, the car drifted forward, and WHAM, the train knocked the whole front clip off, which included the battery. This killed the engine instantly, meaning the kid couldn't do a thing except sit there while half a mile of freight train slowly ground the front of his dad's new Cadillac into metallic hamburger.

Believe me, it is not worth the risk.

a couple friends took out a girls dads car that was in cali at the time with her mom. we were like 13-14 and the only reason we got cought was cause we had gotten careless. we were taking it out at like 2 or 3 in the moring and doing burnouts in front of her house for a couple nights in a row and one day we dicided to take it out and a cop was following one of us and pulled into her driveway behind us. the cop said he had gotten reports of a Dodge Stealth that was driving recklessly around the neighborhood.

it was really funny cause we all ran into the park behind her house when we saw the cop pull up. one of my friends was in the bathroom takin a **** at the time. i did not get cought but but two of my friends did that ran.

all they got was there name taken down, and they all are getting there license on time.

and this one kid at school took out his mom and dads car with one of his friends and ran it into a tree going 40-45. when he was 14 or 15. and he got his license on time.

A friend of mine in high school in 1992 had the equivalent of a driver permit. One rainy night, he decided it would be cool for him to take his family's large Chevy SUV without a licensed driver in the car and go for a drive -- although illegal, police officers were at the time on strike and 'suspicious driver/vehicle' traffic stops weren't being initiated, so unless he did something stupid, he would not be caught, and he knew that. So he was driving on a street which curved to the left at the top of a hill. As he got to the top of the hill and to the curve, he decided that the small pickup ahead of him wasn't going fast enough, so he pulled on to the wrong side of the road to overtake. He didn't see the small station wagon coming until it was slightly too late -- he attempted to move to the left but merely skidded into the car and was bounced into the small pickup he tried to overtake. Two people died that night, and he wasn't one of them. Instead, it was two parents coming back from a parent/teacher night at their kids school. That event singlehandedly ended the police officer strike, by the way, since a commander had seen the kid driving around and thought it suspicious, but didn't stop him because of the shortage of officers. Forget your father being angry with you or ruining his brand new Cadillac -- this man has to live with killing two parents -- literally taking two lives -- every day of the rest of his life, all because he made a stupid, illegal decision. I can bet it isn't fun. None of my friends even thought of taking a car without permission or a proper licence after that.

Heh, im not saying im going to take it out for a drive, im not THAT stupid. All im saying is i wish i could drive.

Oh, and its a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse.

It's tough to be faced with such temptation. But you have to be strong. Vehicles are bad things without the appropriate training.

I'm allowed to drive our cars on our own property, I like to re-arrange our cars in the garage and on the lot. And I always drive cars that are outside of the gate inside. - You know, just silly stuff. I've never taken a car out of our property-line without my parents' persmission. However, my father does let me drive around the countryside here sometimes (of course he sits next to me) in his car. Fun - fun - fun!

This especially applies to retarded people driving expensive racing cars around real racing tracks, simply because they can afford to. I hate those people.

Wealthier people in suburbs in this country tend to live in 'gated communities' in which burglary or home invasion could be a major problem, so a guard is stationed in a booth outside to prevent suspicious people from entering.

But you didn't enter, so the gates served their purpose.

Just drive it around the block. Just be careful. And don't drive on busy roads or anything.

No license here and have taken out the cars on many occasions. Haven't been caught yet ;)

It's easier in certain states than others... and if you can steal US Government plates off a car then the local police have no authority to write you a ticket for a moving violation. Not that I condone that behaviour...

I have my learners drivers license, but I have to drive with a full license holder whenever driving. It's really tempting to just take off, but I don't. Not only would I dissapoint my parents, but they would make me pay the fine, which I could pay, but that money is for my "future education"

wow. really interesting stories.

last friday, my dad let me drive this red toyota tercel. it was bare to the bone except for the automatic transmission. well, we had to go to this center to pick up something and it was only five minutes away, so he let me drive. when we were at a four-way stop sign, this old lady in her honda accord thought that it was her turn to cross the intersection because she was the eldest. in california, it's always ther person on your right goes. it was supposed to be my turn next, but when i turned, she literally floored the gas pedal and missed the car's front bumper by 3 inches! i mean, i was sitting in the middle of the intersection just waiting to turn after she passed me going 30 MPH in a little shopping center intersection.

after that, my dad was so scared that he started to drive a little bit slower :)

although sometimes in the morning, i would warm up my mom's car and just sit in there and pretend that i'm driving a manual. she has a mercedes, so it matches my imagination perfectly :D

I did this. When I was twelve, that's right, in sixth grade, I had a plan. I woke up early, before anyone else, stole the keys from my mom's purse, and took the '72 Buick LeSabre out for a spin. I hit a tree accross the street when I backed out of the driveway. But that thing was a tank and it only left a scuff. So I proceeded to cruise around my neighborhood untill I nearly hit the newspaper delivery guy. He was a looser and chased me and I, stupid enough to stop for him (WTF was I thinkiing?), ended up having him reach in and take the keys. Yes. He took the keys (I was only twelve). He went and found a cop. Needless to say I was in very big trouble. My dad said "I hope you enjoyed yourself because it's the last time you're ever driving any of my cars." He didn't stick to it though.

And believe it or not I did it again, this time in their '82 Crown Victoria station wagon. This time the cops got me themselves because... get this... I didn't know how to turn off the hi-beams. The cop was flashing me and I was like "uh oh..." He did a u-turn and pulled me over. When he saw me he was pretty shocked. I begged him to just let me go home and I'd never do it again. No dice.

But I still got my license at 16, although I did worry about it until then. And my dad still let me drive.

Man I hope my kid doesn't do stuff like that.

I forgot to mention that I ended up working with this guy when I was eighteen, delivering the paper in my home town. We had some good laughs about it.

Nearly a year ago when I was 14, I went with my dad to his mates house for the weekend which is about 50km north of Wellington. We were in the pub and before they left i asked for the keys to the car and I went and sat in it. When they came out of the pub, they went into the bottle store to get more booze and when they did I got in the drivers seat and started in up. I reversed out of the parking space and waited for them. When they came out, I hit the gas hard enough for it to do a good wheel spin. I turned it around with a few more wheelspins and they got in (FWD cars are ****. If it was his old Holden Commodore I could have floored it and swung the back around)
Before we went back to his house I had to go to his work to get something, passing the local cop station on the way. But now I have my learners, so its not illegal anymore.

My neighborhood rules, i've taken my brother's car around (with him there of course) a couple times.

..that's not helping you, is it?

I took my friends car out for a joy ride back before I had my license. I didnt go far. Of course it was easy to take his car since it didnt need a key to start it up. :D

Well i have some real advice - isn't there large beach parking lots where you live? Those are always great for learning to drive in, if you go on a day no one really goes to the beach, or a a beach where no one really visits...i'm sure a good friend would let you drive his car around, if your mom didn't.
