If I can take Eau Rouge at full throttle, I think I should be trusted to drive my own car into the pit lane.

I remember having a blast pitting on an 11-year-old NASCAR simulator and facing penalties for breaking speed limits, dodging other cars, and the excitement of waiting for the crew member in front to lift the stop sign and peeling out.

In GT it's just a huge immersion breaker.

Edit: Everyone who liked this thread needs to go like this post in the suggestions forum.

I couldn't see us being able to perform the full drive into the pit box but even if we had to slow down at the entry and put the speed limiter on at the white line it would be nice. This is something I have wanted for years.

Seriously,it's nice that we have an actual pit crew with animations and all. Not wanting to make a discussion (I love Forza),but there you drive in a pit and *PLOP*! Your car's fixed! By what crew? With what tools? MAGIC!

I know right kinda like how games handle oil changes. Such as a mechanic getting under my car and filling my oil back up while they are still under the car! I know gravity is a bitch but jeez it doesn't hurt to work with it once in a while.

Many PC sims also offer an "auto-pit" toggle that behaves as in GT, but today's console developers seem to be allergic to offering options like that. I guess a detailed options menu is what's too much for casuals...

Exactly. I am more of a casual player than a sim player myself, but I hate it how games these days are limited by "compromises" where it would be possible to implement certain features as options.

For example F1 games by Codemasters. They left out player car failure because not everyone finds it fun, bla bla. While old (like back in the 90's) F1 games had this as an option.

NR2003 per chance?

I totally agree. Would be an awesome feature. And an obvious one too!

I think the main reason no manual driving is allowed in the pitlane is you could run over the crew.

Barrier tapes in rally courses are impenetrable by the same explanation.

That would raise the age rating of the game and therefore reduce sales.
But, you already can run people over in GT5.
Actually, I have a custom Tokyo Bay track that my friend made and it is so small that some of the people are on the track! LOL!

On topic, they could make it to where is does not effect them if you hit them(You could drive right through them).

It would be great, cases like yesterday where the game just drives me through the pits without giving me any tires or fuel can't happen if I'm driving right?
It's extra fun to get auto-exited from the pit without fuel at Sarthe where you can't make it back around...

Casuals shouldn't take up Gran Turismo games anyway... They just screw around for 5 minutes crashing in every wall and then just go play Call Of Duty instead. :p

But yeah, that ability to drive in pits would be great! :)

They already do run them over sometimes(they just go straight through them). So they can just keep it where you go straight through them.

I'm not saying it's a bad feature, actually I want it. Just saying casual players won't know what to do...

Simple solution, make it an option.

Strategy wise you're still bound to an pop-up screen to make changes. I wouldn't mind that. Since talking to you're engineer is a bit harder. ;)

I would like manual pitting, more room to make a mistake.

Well, PC sims have this feature but I think it might be a little too much for casuals...

Not if they model things like the pit lane speed limiter. One push of the button and you are don't have to worry about speeding. Also an option for auto pit as said would also help.

Could add a new element to the game, if like other games if not properly in the pit, fueling & tires won't begin.
Good for endurance races. But wouldn't want the option on regular races. Maybe a option that can be added to online races, adds a extra challenge.

I think this is a great idea, well this is supposed to be "The Real Driving Simulator" is it not?
