NISMO Z-Tune 350Z <-- Sexy

I see alot of people complain it grips too much, But I don't really have any problems drifting with the car. I think it'd be better to address a car that's hard to break loose rather than a Supra which the majority of peoples problems are with the excess of wheelspin. Which is pretty much just learning to modulate throttle for a high HP/Tq car. Not so much a problem with the car, just a problem with patience I think.

Well the issues I have with the Supra is that it's just too much work to drift it.. it's hard work to control the spin, it's hard work to get it sideways and it's a pain to keep it at an angle.. the last 2 due to lack of front grip that I haven't yet managed to work around 100%. It's also a very good looking car, so I think it's a good project to try and make enjoyable.

I stand by my vote for the Z-tune though.. I think the problems I have with that car can be found in all the 350z's to a degree.

I've got settings posted in the settings depot for the Supra SZ-R/RZ & the Z-Tune/Fairlady Z GT-Edition 350Z's. The Z-Tune settings look alittle odd with such a huge variation in F/R spring rates, but I feel it's very controlable. Same goes for the Supra settings I've posted. I'd rather have a car thats easy to control then one that breaks loose every time you get on the gas hard.

Hey, my own settings tend to be a lot more weird than that (I'm no stranger to 12/6 or worse spring settings heh).. I might try and think a little different for these cars... drifting race cars for a while has given me some perspective and a few changes in preferences, and I definitely rate controllability and response higher than "ease of use" ie how easily it'll oversteer these days.

But, I feel this has been somewhat of a thread hijack, I guess we can continue this discussion when the nominations close ;)

that's right! save the conversation for whenever the car is selected as the topic. :sly:
If you really want to discuss it you could both try nominating it...
I might hop on board with that car too, if you were to nominate it. 350Z's have always been troublesome drifters for me.

I guess the Supra RZ would be a very good pick then:)As they would help alot of people I guess:tup:

Hey, we both did already.. They're a big pain to set up but they look too good to not fiddle with :dopey:

[Ok, enough of this hijacking]

...Well while I was away, I happened to find some Supra settings :) You have to over power the car and know your throttle control. I can drift the Supra RZ stock on N2's, it doesn't have a lot of "oomph" like I'm looking for, so I overpowered it with about 390-450 Horsepower...It's like having nitrous for me, because my tires start spinning for and take the corner easier. As of now though, I want to change my nomination again... :indiff: ...And choose the Nismo 350z that DT_C nominated, can't seem to get that sideways yet.

yeah, id like to see some kind of Z33(350Z) settings. it just doesnt feel right to me.
so i nominate NISMO Z-Tune 350Z

I'm quite pleased with the response this idea has recieved so far. I hope I can count on everyone placing nominations to be active in our discussions of the selected cars (DSJ: Vol 1 is a little dry... :indiff: ).
Keep the nominations rolling in. There's still one week to put up new nominations or change an existing one.

👍

Yessss, the 350z might just get chosen!! I've tested settings and settings, but nothing is smooth enough for me...Just wanted to give my input... 👍

Cool, well I guess the 350Z is AWSOME too:tup: And lol yes, the need for RX-7 settings is a bit gone:p

I think this Vol 2 will be much better TS (BL) Dont worry;)

I change my nomination again!!!! Oh my God, I was just playing around thinking about drifting and then Honda Civic came to my mind. So I decided to drift the FF Civic. And guess what?! It turned out to be easier then AWD drifting. Maybe even FF. If you over steer, keep countering and you'll get back to going straight. My nomination is the '97 or '98 Civic's. This would be a funny Journal to drift and write about.

I vote for the Holden Monaro. I have had some trouble drifting it and the GTO. I have tried other setups but none have really fit. So i nominate this car. Its a heavy and powerful beast that could be utilized into a great drift machine with a good setup

I vote the widebody nsx (the lm road car or somthing)
Its been a car that just refuses to break traction for me and i have pretty much given up on it.

nah, no probs.

Cast your final nominations and make any changes now - only 2 days left

Nissan Nismo Fairlady Z Z-Tune (Z33) ('03) has 3 nominations
Toyota Supra RZ ('97) still has 2

Ok.

Volume 2 Nominations Closed!

The topic car for the DSJ: Volume 2 shall be the Nismo Fairlady Z Z-Tune (Z33) ('03) as determined by the forum. It recieved 3 nominations during the 2 week nomination period. 👍
It may be viewed here: - Link

I am pleased with the reception this idea has recieved. I hope it remains popular.

Volume 3 Nominations Open! - Closing Saturday, October 29th, 2005 at 12:00am NA Central Time (GMT-06:00)

huh?

anyways,
I'm going to try an keep a tally of who has voted for what in the current nomination period in the first post of this thread. I intend to recycle this thread so it might become messy for other to keep track of what cars have been suggested.

It won't be updated daily, just a few times within the nomination period. Probably something like the following:
  • the Tuesday or Wednesday in the first week of the nomination period
  • the Saturday or Sunday falling in the middle of the nomination period
  • the Wednesday or Thursday coming just before the nominations close

Hmmm personally I'd like it better as separate threads, to be honest.. :dunce:

Edit: My nomination changed to the Mitsubishi Evo VIII MR 280
