Can someone recommend me a good CD?

Dubstep is a style where the 'bands' tend to play very much alike from one song to the next, so my best recommendation would be a Various Artists type of album. Depending on where you're going to look for them, there's a 2008 compilation called (originally) Dubstep Collection and it has about 8 volumes. Now, though it may be overkill if you're not that into Dubstep, it's certainly a must-have if you're very much into it.

On a more personal note, there's a single from Black Sun Empire called 'The Invasion', which has 2 (or 4?) dubstep tracks which I like a lot.

What Tom Servo said. I've just been poking around finding single tracks that I like and making my own CDs.

Yea I usually do that. I don't know much about Dubstep CD's, but I heard some songs from the album Fabriclive.37 & it was awesome.

Would someone please mind sending me a RAR with one of their CDs, perhaps? Please don't underestimate my laziness.

Perhaps not the most clear cut example of dubstep.

A good song none the less.

OMG how did I miss this thread, I love Dubstep!

Great videos, suprised as a lot I havent heard before! ill post some of my fav UK stuff up too when I got time.

I prefer to chill out to dubstep with a few mates and a few beers rather than go to a club with it playing, personlly, but there's some really good stuff in this thread already.

Well, welcome! :D

This here is an amazing track I found about a week ago:

And here's something I made for my friends(these are all tracks from the album I posted for download on Page 2):

Ok heres my kinda dubstep, more hardcore, more focus on the bass, a bit of old skool dub in there too so if you dont have a sub connected to your pc you might not appreciate it.

....to name a few

As much as I dislike this 'genre' if you can even call it that, I just stumbled on this and HAD to post it.

The only dubstep song I have on my iPod...

Thread revival! Who else listens to this? I have the Ministry of Sound Dubstep album, it isn't great but Chrispy Dubstep is someone who is! Here is my favorite song from Chrispy:

I love you. Chrispy is bad ass.. I think he just knocked off Flux Pavillion off the 1st spot on my Awesome Dubstep List.

EDIT: Also, the video you posted isn't working. :/ What's the song called?

Ive known about him for quite some time now. Here is the video again:

The Vengaboys remix is quite amusing. You might want to check that out if you haven't already.

EDIT: Maybe you cant embed it...

It is the remix of 'Rude Boy - Rihanna'. I love how well the bass mixes with her voice...

way back I was checking out the mixes by alexc off his site and one mix ended with a proper heavy tune which started my hunt for more dubstep,
which was this: armour - iron man

(he now goes by dfrnt and sticks to dub, check out some of the mixes here
i got the only dubstep compilation on itunes at the time, was just a bunch of whatever was around in 08 and there was a reasonable amount i liked although it was a lot plainer and pretty straight then and some was a bit annoying with solid bass the whole way through, but some gems with the likes of skream, loefah and burial, old now but might be new to some

if you want a quick gathering of music there are a few free mixes around, MRK1 (if you can tolerate the MC), Dayton, Faded Derivatives - auditory laxatives are a good start to look for.

Blackmill has started to get a following on youtube and has a album coming out later this month. I will be picking up a few tracks from itunes for sure!

.... remix's

.... and one of his own

I mix dubstep and drum and bass in my spare time.

What annoys me is when people say it's all the same (yet they enjoy faceless indie music where the band name begins with "The")

Here's some of my favourite artists:

Nero, Flux Pavilion, Ruf, Skream, Rob Sparx, Trolley Snatcha, Balkansky, DJ Madd, Caspa

A lot of it does sound very samey though - the majority of the genre still seems focused on big drops and wobbly bass lines. The post-dubstep scene is where it's at right now (Joy Orbison, James Blake, Mount Kimbie, Jamie Smith etc.) where there's a distinct shift from being 'filthy' for the sake of it.

Often the people who call it samey have never heard of the artists you mentioned. I mean, if you're going to slag off a music genre, don't be close-minded. I think the problem lies in the artists making too many tracks, all of which are too similar.

Chilled dubstep 👍
