Hey there!
Numerous people have told me how to dupe but I was just wondering if anyone had an in depth instructions list of how to do it?
Thanks!

Save your game in GT Mode (should be done automatically)
Exit your game out to PSN.
Find Saved Data Utility, and locate your GT5 save file.
Press triangle on it, and copy it to USB stick.

Once copied, you can go into GT Mode, send a car/ticket or whatever to anyone.
After you've sent something/changed something, exit back out to Saved Data Utility, find your USB stick/drive, and copy your save back to PSN.

More or less... :)

Hope that was understandable. :dopey:

Doing this I lose my preview of my car in the garage. Does thos happen all the time?

EDIT:found my answer no need to reply to my question thanks

In addition, backup if you are going to do this regularly. Store the backup data on the computer, thumb drive, etc.

Theres also
Borrow glitch. No limit but time consuming (I refuse to do it, dunno really how it work but its duping)

Partial / Save dupe. A way to have 2000+ cars on 1 account, I herd of someone with 7000 cars on 4 different save, when he was at 2000 cars he just took another USB stick (He had 7000 cars but never at the same time, wich is slightly tardi)

Reward glitch. Not happy with the color of the car you won? You should have save before finishing those races. Rinse and repeat untill you get what you want, save and trade if you want all colors but that not duping . (A bit complicated for cup race, pointless for enduros )

Theres probably plenty more ways to tweak the system.

This happens, I do not know why, but it also happens if you completely new install your savefile on another PS3. Then a lot of the thumbs are gone also, which causes a looooong time to re-create (when you have >1000 cars).

This happens because the thumbnail information is stored in the GT Data file, not the game save file. When you separate the game save from PS3 that has the matching GT Data file, it cannot locate the thumbnails, so you have to recreate them. 👍

As stated above this can happen during duping or even when you are in GT Auto painting cars, but not saving the game (to preview paint colors on your car without losing the chips, until you find the final color that you are looking for). ;)

Very good explanation to our friend here but I think you meant to say XMB instead of PSN? Anyway, I think he still gets the explanation. :)

Ha, yeah...

Was at work, so I wasn't to sure if 'XMB' was correct, so I just put PSN. ;)

I am very hesitant to use my one and only main account for duping, so I created a second account and send all my cars and other things I want to duplicate there. I just have a feeling I'm going to make a mistake and lose the main account somehow so I feel safer doing it through a second account. I use that account to hold multiples of certain paints, special horns etc. so I can dupe several at a time and send them back to my main account or to others. Also allows you to keep a separate friends list for trading as opposed to racing.

On giving the car away, it removes the thumbnail from the ps3.
GT5 doesn't know that you will restore the save (with car) again :D

You should make a backup of your main account, even if you don't use the backup for duping. I usually forget to backup until I accomplish something difficult (find a car in the UCD, get a gold on a license test, etc) and think I wouldn't want to have to do that again. I take the backup and store a copy on my laptop, so I have a backup of my backup.

That's good advice and I do backups on both accounts regularly. I've already lost my data on my main account once and had a save that was only a few days old lying around. I usually just back up to the USB stick but once in a while I download it onto my PC as well.

Can I just ask then, if you have two accounts with different save data, what happens if you can't sign in? Would you have no data to use or would it give you a choice???
Thanks

The two accounts are separate identities on the same console. The save files aren't interchangable but you can have the items you wish to dupe stored in the second "fake" profile and send the stored items to your main account (up to the daily limit) each day. If you can't connect to the network I don't think you can send the items between the two accounts even though they are on the same console. I have two profiles and haven't tried sending items while offline. This is a good way to have an endless supply of tickets, paints, etc. that you can keep sending to your main account. There should be no fear of deleting any saves while duping if you're making daily backups. I have 3-4 backups of each account and backup at least once a day so I doubt I'll ever lose a game save unless my two usb sticks, both external hard drives, pc hard drive and PS3 all die at the same time. So barring a massive solar flare taking out all electronics on the planet, I'm probably safe. Backing up is a must and it's just common sense considering the amount of hours in this game.
