We finally took the plunge here and invested in an HD set. Unfortunately, my dad decided to 'upgrade' to a 52 inch model despite the fact that I had pointed out a specific model 50 inch tv and told them not to get anything else unless I okayed it (Toshiba has some fantastic dlp's for the price 👍).

aaanyways, to make a long story short, the person we bought it from is a wholesaler and was doing us a favor - ie, no refunds, but an awesome price. The tv is pretty good on it's own, but the problem I have with it is the fact that it has no VGA or DVI ports which makes it kinda useless to me since my #1 reason for wanting an hd set was to set up a computer to it for games and movies.

Now, I have this big tv and a pair of laptops along with a desktop and they're incapable of interfacing with the sucker. I know there's vga to component converters out there, but they're very expensive. One of the laptops and the desktop have DVI slots on them. Is it possible to use an adapter to switch the signal to HDMI? I know that DVI has two standards - DVI-D and DVI-A - one being digital, the other being analog. Which do the pc's have, and is it possible to connect with the adapter? The manual says in big bold letters that the TV wasn't intended for use with computers so I don't know whether or not to try risking it.

As far as the vga > component things go, are there any quality differences or is it ok to just go onto ebay and grab the cheapest one I can find?

I have not heard any conflicting results, but I would imagine the problems most people are having are not the cable's fault. I'm using a DVI->HDMI cable with my HTPC and Sony TV with no problems.
