Yeah...after 3 1/2 weeks my car finally gets fixed from the break-in...and now i cant get the #@!%&@!!! emergency brake released.

I wanted to try and see if it would work, the E-brake so i pushed it in and tried to release it...pushed my foot down and pulled on the lever as hard as I could...would not release.

And now the AAA guy cut the e-brake cable, my car still moves, but still will not roll freely in neutral...

Hit it a few times. That fixes anything--router, Gamecube, PSOne, Dell Desktop, pen, my friend's hair... oh wait not that.

Oil it with like WD40 or something. Or baby oil.

Hit it with a hammer

Press the button on the front to unlock it

if you are lucky you can grab the e-brake cable with some vice-grips and pull on it, if that doesnt work you will need to pull the rear tire off and see why its hanging up.

what kind of car is it ??? does it have rear disc brakes ???

I get the opposite happen occasionally, my handbrake gets very stiff, and jams, then I hear *BANG* and it frees.

My guess would be that something may be caught in the ratchet (I'm assuming you have the lever type handbrake, not the pull-out-from-the-dash type), pull the centre consol out and have a look. should be easy to spot. Otherwise something is probably bent.

I used to have a HQ Ute, with one of those handbrakes that sits between the drivers seat and the drivers door. It was a wierd one, you pull it up, the brake comes on, then the handle drops back down, with the brake still on. Made for a few interesting moments trying to hand brake drifts, when you accidentally drop the handle and and cant find it in a hurry!

FREAKING ARGH!

AAA is coming out to perhaps fix it...if not...there goes my car again for another week :(

Deja vu. i've gone through eight cars that have all had the thing completely seized up. you may have to get the entire brake cable set and all it's connections rplaced. i've had 2 tauruses and a Merc clone midsize...and they ALL had seized brake cables. good luck
