E3 GTPlanet presence?

Not to be rude, but how do we / Jordan / whoever is deemed so lucky enough to go know that you're not some kind of psycho? :p

I'd be wary about "shacking up" with some unknown from a forum...

^ Hmm, lucky I'm not offended (directly). Its pretty tough to trust someone these days. Its up to Jordan if I'm an unknown or not. Its the first encounters that make people get the chills. :)

Nah you can trust me I am nice guy :sly:. He he he. Lol. Yeah if I were Jordan I would say thanks but no thanks. Its not like I have a sister or something:idea:. Hell the only valuable things in my house are my G25, PS3, TV, Speakers and laptop. Whatever just kidding around.

^ It would be definitely up to him, since I've already sent him a PM regarding my offer. I'm pretty satisfied on what I have right now (an S2K); so everyone is safe. :sly:
 
As a journalist, and having attended some trade shows, (unfortunately not game related) i can say that going to E3 is an opportunity you can't miss.

I would go on a heartbeat if i still lived in the US, and if i had days off at work.

The networking you are able to get is priceless. GTP can be promoted there, by talking with journalists, SCEA, PD. It's important to raise awareness for "our" website.

I think whoever goes and represents GTP should have our support. It's a good chance to gather some exclusive information and also build some connections for the future.

It is all up to the mods and Jordan if we do this or not, and how we do it if we do.

In the meantime, i suggest everyone who want to donate and who does not have a premium of some sort, to get one. Its an easy way to contribute, and that way you are sure you get what you pay for without the risk/reward as many have said.

Mind you, this is just a suggestion from my part, and until the staff have decided something, it will remain such.
That doesn't mean we can't contribute otherwise in the meanwhile :)
 
I'll donate as soon as I get some cash. My birthday is coming up on the 20th, so I'll use some of that B-day money to donate and upgrade to premium!👍
 
I think it should be made clear that becoming a premium member and this E3 fund are completely seperate.
Just in case there is any confusion. 👍

On a further note, becoming premium is super easy and it definately feels good to give a little back to the community. :)
 
As far as I understand upgrading to premium gives Jordan funds to pay for the website but the donation is separate.

That would be right, I signed up for lifetime premium yesterday, definitely the cheapest option since I plan on being around for while.

Both yes and no:

While it is and should be seperate, the income from premium will give the extra cash needed if we dont raise enough through donations fx. Furthermore, premium would give $ for other events aswell. So while cutting it to the brone you can say it is to completley seperate things, im sure both things eventually will benefit pretty much the same way.

I am awaiting an answer from the staff about this topic, as the final desicion on what to do or not to do, is up to them. In the meanwhile, premium upgrades never hurt anything, that was just my point :)

PS: I dont have lifetime, but go month to month basis, as stupid as it sounds, it gives mroe to the site in the long run than a lifetime.

PPS: i would love the option of a paypal donation for the site itself, for those with fx lifetime so you can choose to give a bit from time to time. (maybe it is already here, just haven't been able to find it)
 
PD is going to tell us what they want to tell us, whether someone at GTP goes or not. We aren't going to get much more information than they're probably previously planned to released
 
Exactly, I believe that our efforts are best left till after E3. So we can gather what info we have and what questions to ask. Otherwise it seems a bit of a waste.

If PD can talk after E3, i think we should have video interview with Kaz. Most important question is of course the "cockpit view scandal".
 
Agreed, but I really think that will be fine: look at all the arguments that work in favor of a cockpit view for all cars, I think it'll be fine. Still confirmation is nice :)

A few of the guys/girls here seem to underestimate the power of GTP.

Jordan could write 'GT5 Cancelled' on the main page, with no reference other than 'a secret reliable source' and the gaming world would go bananas. Every major gaming website would be reporting it, and many investors in Sony and associated technologies such as Logitech would start asking questions.

If we, as a community, had a presence at E3 and Sony/PD had been informed, i would expect GTP would be given everything they could to put as much positive spin on the news as possible. An interview with Kaz may not be on the cards, purely because i would expect PD would be afraid of Kaz letting something slip when in passionate conversation over GT5. IF GT5 is fully revealed at E3, then i would guarantee GTP would be pretty high on the list in relation to other newsblogs.

All of this is nice idea but i do think it would be untimately pointless, If any announcements are made regarding GT5 it will be the biggest news of E3 by far and everyman and his brother will showing it from every angle you can (and cant) think of.

There will be more than enough to read and trudge through from the internet if it happens so why waste money. Granted if you can get there for free then hey why not but unless that is the case i would say sit tight and let the info come to you.

AFAIK, they have an invite, however, that doesn't cover travelling expenses.
 
Just to update, as it was not possible to find a suitable plan at the time I made this post, it has been put on hold until further notice.

I am glad to see so many supporting the idea though :)
 
Yeah, but we have to wait for Jordan's move, after all, everyone is depending on E3 entrance credentials. I'm sure he will come to this thread and post whatever decision he takes.
 
Just to let everyone know, GTPlanet's press registration is pending. If approved, we will have a representative at the show as soon as the doors open on June 15. :)

I don't know about you, but for me, whether I lived in the US or not, a trip out to E3 would be amazing, irrespective of how much GT5 gets uncovered!

I'm not the one going. Sage (our Super Moderator who will be attending) is travelling through LA at the same time as the show, anyways, so there is almost no risk involved.
