Star Wars Battlefront II is an upcoming third person shooter taking place in all three eras of the Star Wars trilogies. We do not have the full details of this game yet, but EA DICE has stated there will be a singleplayer storyline, expanded multiplayer modes, and a deep progression and customization system. Battlefront II will be available for PlayStation 4, XBOX One, and PC on November 17, 2017.

The official Star Wars Battlefront II website is here.

Multiplayer will contain a class system based off four roles: Assault, Heavy, Specialist, and Officer. In addition to soldier classes, there are also ship/vehicle classes. There is progression and customization for pretty much everything! Whether it's your class, weapons, starships, or heroes, everything can be suited to your playstyle. Space Battles are confirmed, but we do not know how they will be implemented currently. Supposedly, the season pass has been taken out of the game according to Mashable, but this could change in the next few months.

Singleplayer follows "Inferno Squad" after the destruction of the second Death Star and collapse of the Galactic Empire. The story takes place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

Regardless jf you like this channel or not, there's a lot of good information here.

Sounds like the Pre-Order Bonus are just skins, similar to the weapons in BF1.

That was a pretty good video, even for Darth Kermit The Frog's standards.

Unless every multiplayer map has the option of being played in single player/splitscreen coop skirmish mode, then I am not interested. Additionally, the actual game mode needs to be relevant to the map. The first Battlefront had really nice looking maps, but the AT-AT mode felt horribly out of place in anything but Hoth.

Since you mention skirmish, that needs a massive improvement for SWBF2. In SWBF '15, it was a total embarrassment. The pathetic AI teammates wouldn't help you at all, whether it was activating the uplinks, attacking the walkers, or staying nearby to defend you from sudden squad rushes. Plus, the constant strafing by starfighters quickly became an annoyance instead of a neat cinematic trick. That was just the easy mode. On harder modes, it was almost impossible to stay alive for more than 90 seconds.

Even though you could use any main weapon, you couldn't equip any custom hands or star cards that were actually helpful. If for whatever reason you can't play online, it would be great to test a custom loadout before going into multiplayer, but this restriction only made skirmish more aggravating.

Well, you won't catch me arguing against better AI ever ;) 👍

From everything I've read so far, it sounds great. They're specifically talking about not dividing the community through paid content, and there will be special classes for troopers and vehicles, with personalisation and progression available (I can personalise my A-Wing?!:dopey:). This game just went on the buy list, a shame it's so DAMN far away (November release). If this game is half as good as it looks, I may even buy the DLC this time.

My wallet is really gonna take a beating in the last half of this year with so many great games coming out. This is arguably on the top of my list with Project CARS 2.

I just hope that all the content in the game (as in all eras, maps, etc) are playable offline. And also some sort of mode like Instant Action would be a welcome addition to the offline game.

All I want, is to be a part of the Clone Wars battle on Geonosis where there's a million Clones and Droids going at it. I want to be a part of that mess!

Imagine you're flying onboard an LAAT, with anti-aircraft artillery exploding in every direction. Vulture droids scream past as you descend into battle. Just then, a missile strikes your shuttle. There's no saving this ship, so the pilot finds a spot amidst the chaos to crash land as softly as possible. The LAAT pitches down sharply and your pilot scrapes the bottom against the ground, while crushing half of a battle droid squadron. As you skid to a stop, you see a dozen more B1s and Super Battle Droids marching towards your ship. Your squad jumps out and unleashes a barrage of blaster fire at the droids while another LAAT circles above you providing close air support. Suddenly, that LAAT explodes and you look down to see Count Dooku walking forward, igniting his lightsaber.

Now THAT is what I want out of this game. It would require a ton of coordination from casual players, but this would be an epic experience.

This is purely speculation, but if DICE were to make large-scale combat possible, would they have AI units mixed in with human players, similar to Fighter Squadron in SWBF2015? The CIS had a massive droid army, and according to Star Wars lore, there were over a million B1 Battle Droids at the Battle of Geonosis. Since there's 40 player maps, the AI units would give the impression of larger-scale battles. What do you guys think of this?

The option would be nice, that's for sure. But I don't think the numbers would be that high, and I wouldn't want them to either.

Obviously they couldn't do a million AI at once, but let's say they threw in another 40. Would that add to the game, or detract from it?

Depends how big they scale the maps. And also AI difficulty and awareness would have to be improved I'd imagine. Otherwise, it'd definitely add to the spectacle and immersion of it all. I doubt they'd do it though.

I wouldn't think it'd be that difficult to incorporate AI into larger scale battles. Titanfall already does something similar. Would like to see a single player mode similar to the old galactic conquest modes in the first and second games. While I'm happy to see a single player focus it seems to be oriented around the campaign, which makes me worry that large sandbox battles on the multiplayer maps will still be omitted.

Ultimately what I wish would be done is an epic battles mode that recreates the major battles from the movies and series for both single player and multiplayer. Imagine how awesome it'd be to do Yavin with a full squad of X-Wing and Y-wings including both the approach, surface run, and trench in seamless transition. That and Hoth with at least 5-6 AT-AT's, a full squadron of speeders, and potentially hundreds of ground troops. And Endor with most if not all the capital ships represented and all phases of the battle for the space sequence.

So heroes will apparently have a different battle mechanism than the current one (Thank the maker!) and will also be more "tactical" than before. Hopefully that means we won't see ridiculous 200+ killstreaks with Bossk on Endor....

Ey b0ssk. I think you underestimated his power.

Velociraptor lives for those hero pickups. Now that SWBFII will have no hero pickups but will rather be "earned" throughout the match, I wonder what he's gonna do

Destroy everybody with conventional weapons and abilities as usual.

I wonder if the A280C and E-11 will be as good as they are in SWBF2015, or if other weapons will take their place.

So over the past few weeks there have been a couple of gameplay leaks here and there. The most prominent one, or at least the one who seems the most legit is a short 3 or 4 second video of gameplay in third person on what appears to be the campaign mode. There's also a leak showing a menu selection screen which some of it's aspects is consistent with the video leaked.

Here's a 'compilation' of leaked footage so far. But given the fact that we are so close to EA play, where EA will reveal gameplay footage, this video may not be that relevant to you.

EDIT: There's also a building in LA being painted with BFII artwork. Pretty cool advertisement, although a little too much for a video game I would say lol

Its something that happens here. That is about a block away from the Staples center, right across the street of a really big outdoor strip/tourist area. It'll be seen by a ton of people lol.

I was thinking about posting this but you beat me to it.

Tomorrow is EA SW Battlefront II's biggest day yet as gameplay footage will be live streamed during EA Play's event in Hollywood.

The event is at 12 PM PST for those interested. :)

Second post updated with the new trailer. It looks awesome!

The clones and droids appear to have the Clone Wars voice actors. Also, I really like the new personal shields. Instead of being completely surrounded, only your front and sides are protected, so a sneaky player (or sniper) can still take you out.

It looks like they've retained the abysmal flight model from SWBF15, although it looks like we might be able to control rolling. If it could be like GTA V's controls, that would be fine! Until more info comes out, I'll be retaining my cautious optimism. Also, the jittery third person camera made me feel dizzy. How hard is it to lock the camera to the starfighters?

I'm skeptical that most this stuff won't be available offine and in splitscreen. Obviously the campaign will be available offline, but if at least half of these extra gameplay modes aren't available offline, I'll be quite disappointed.
