Easiest car to drift with?

I just recently saw all those drifting videos (Cudaman is awesome) and I wanted to know which car is the easiest to drift with. Also what does it mean when people use SIM tires?

SIM tires is short for Simulation tires, you can buy them at the tune shop under tires.

And as for the easiest car to drift... there is no real easiest car to drift. It all depends on the person and their style. If you want some settings to practice with, try the Drift Settings Depot at the top of the forum.

Thanx for all the info. Right now I'm using the RX-7 but I keep spinning out. I'm going to try the Siliva next. I've been to the drift depot and I'm using Sherons settings for my cars.

Well unforutnatly, it take a whole lot of practice to learn to drift well. I drift with my Viper GTS most of the time I have a session.

Not a bad idea. The only problem with the wheel is that you can't shift (using the paddles) when the wheel is turned all the way to lock. Not everyone has this problem, but it's pretty common.

Oh, and welcome to GTP! I would also like to nominate you for the Best Username EVAR!!!!11 award. :D

I was thinking of getting a wheel aswell...Any sudgestions towards the best perfoming/most durable wheel that allows for variable steering as apposed to..Tilt it to the left slightly and you're into a wall

I heard the Logitech is the best one. You can get them at Best Buy or Circuit City for $80. Logitech is releasing a new one when Gran Turismo 4 comes out. It'll allow you to turn it 900 degrees like a real steering wheel.

The Logitech Driving Force is excellent...except for the aforementioned bug. :irked:

One more thing I need to know. Are you guys drifting in arcade or simulation game?

i usually go into Arcade Mode then into Free Mode and just go practice there :D

OH MY GOD!!! I'M SO PISSED RIGHT NOW..This is off the topic...But I had just come back from playing Wangan Midnight (Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero's Arcade Version)...And I was on the 9th challenge, and the challenger gets ahead of me..slams on the breaks and turns across a 6 lane freeway just to ram into me...Then darts off and winds.....Such Bologna...

Me..I usually go to Time Trial...Try and improve my drifting lap times....

lately ive been using the Mazda RX-7 RS tuned to about 370 hp with full racing suspension, and all that other good stuff. ive finally been able to completelty drift 2 things ive been trying to drift for awhile. i drifted turns 1 & 2 on Apricot Hill with 1 huge continuous drift, and i drifted the small end of Super Speedway. both with my RX-7 RS.

900 Degrees??? whoa i wonder how that will the change the style of drifting to other people

Bustwave...I gaurentee more people can drift IRL as result of this, the only alteration people would have to change in order to adjust would be tires, bodyroll, skipping tires, and shifting..Which is alot smaller of a difference from a wheel that just moces 1/3 of what a real one does

LOL I'm horrible at drifting. I'm constantly spinning out. I have no clue what I'm doing wrong. I have a few more questions. When I'm in a drift do I want to keep my RPMs high or low? Also when I'm going into a drift at anypoint do I turn my wheels in the same direction as the drift or is it only opposite direction and neutral?

Hot damn..depending on the speed of the drift and the drivetrain..You'll want to either keep the wheel straight or Slightly into the corner..or countersteer like hell

you really DONT know what your doin ;P if you want more hp, you increase RPM. you need more HP to spin the tires...so if you start to understeer, drop a gear. as for steering, naturally steer whichever way you need to correct the car. normally counter-steer, though FR drifting requires CONSTANT input on the steering!

HotDamnItsDavid: Well, let me explain you one thing. There's different ways to get a drifting car.
All stock and sim tyres.
Light moded and sim tyres.
Light moded and slicks.
Heavy moded and soft tyres.
That's the main ways (if you mix them, you get more).
There's some cars that have born to drift but settings make a car drift.
You only have to choose the way you like the most and get fit to your skills and style of driving.
There's a Drift settings depot, where people upload their settings, try some and choose the most suitable for you, and feel free to make any change.

I can tell you that my settings are for heavy moded cars and soft tyres in general.
As I said: choose the one you like the most and get fit to your skills and style of driving.
Enjoy!

Thx alot Sheron. I've been to the drift depot and I've been using your settings for most of my cars. I don't know how you guys go in at high speeds and maintain that speed without spinning out.

its not that hard if you fiddle with the suspension tuning and get the right tires on the car... you forgot heavy moded and slicks/superslicks sheron... i used slicks when i first started out aned now i use slick sometimes and sims others...but i always detune for sims... i guess what is probably the easiest way to start learning is to do what sheron said... find a style to suit you... but i would suggest starting out with extremely low hp cars... like below 300 and try to find a good balance with power suspension and tires... when you start to get the hang of it try more and more cars... i guess when i started i took a car... left it stock cept for tiers.... tried it and then kept moding very slowly until i found the setting that i felt comfortable with... good luck
