Some work.. Gonna get a new rad fan, flip it to the back where the IC sits, mount a FMIC in front of the rad, probably get a new rad, pulled the turbo to build a hybrid the other day..

Bought a VDO oil pressure gauge that didn't fit but will. Went to the yard again to pick up some stuff for the daily.. Snagged a bulb socket

For the first time in years I have two rear plate bulbs

Pardon my potato pictures

One of the other things I picked up at the yard was a center console, my xB billet HVAC knobs came in but they're too big. Here's the stock center console

And here is one I cut up :D

Now they fit, sort of.. I threw in a new single DIN HU the other day, waiting for a lower console for the player to go into. Pictures when everything is done.. :) Did some Daihatsu work today.. WG before:

Now cleaned up a little, together with air filter

Painted the distributor cap since it was semi orange and semi faded, wanted to test out a new to me texture paint, not really happy with the texture but happy with the cap

The red coolant hose is so going this year, I guess I'll do black vacuum lines while I'm at it, the blue lines are left overs from earlier builds, about when it was cool 15 years ago or so.

Oh and I may pick up these coming weekend, RH ZW3s in 8Jx17 ET55. Plans are 25mm spacers up front and 2.25" or 3.25" lips on the rears to build 9s or 10s for the daily.

Sorry for all the notifications, I had a lot of catching up to do!
I'm with Ronald, those new wheels are sexy, I'm looking forward to seeing them under the Funcargo! 👍
I take it you haven't got around to fitting those flares to the rear yet?

Lol, it got me by surprise.
Thanks man.. Not fitting the flares until the winter is done and the car can be fully cleaned down to glue parts on, don't wanna create more rust than the salty roads already do :)

Absolutely one of the best threads in GTP history Erik.

Love it.

Thankyou for providing such entertainment for us all.

👍

Thanks a bunch man..! Seriously the coolest comment I've ever got :)

Not much happening here lately. Changed oil on the daily today but it was rushed and I forgot to snap pics. It has 140k now. Unstuck the brakes on the red parts car.. Coolest news in a while is we now got a welder and gas for it in the garage.. In other words me and my buddy I rent the 'shop' with will learn how to weld; one of the few things I'm not comfortable around a car doing.

I agree with VEXD, this is one of my favourite threads on GTP. So much awesomeness going on here. Thanks for all the entertainment!

Spent an hour destroying my white car today.. Snagged everything of value or interest, also pushed the door waaaay past the operating point.. Always wanted to do that :D:D

I will always remember it as this though.. Somewhat shabby, somewhat low.. It served well :)

The Golf 3, ... :(

I connect a lot of memories with that gen too ;)
My best buddy had a GTI in that bordeau red. Good times

Yeah I know but I wasn't gonna throw in loads of work at a car that needed a gearbox, state inspection and still had loads of rust. Better to put that time and effort into my Mk2 and GTti :)

Speaking of rusty VWs, I bought a Polo :D Note the rear wiper and rain gutter mod - equals about 10hp in drag effect I bet lol.

Rockers, front and rear fenders, rear quarters and floors are completely gone. But it has some sweet parts and a minty color concept interior. I'm gonna put that car down next week.

I parted the Polo today, some hours fun.. :)

Interior is now a moldy Golf seat and a steering wheel I'll pop off at the yard

This is what road salt does.. Geez this car is bad.
16835529542_20fea8c7ed_b.jpg

Can't say I'm looking forward to the drive to the yard but.. What can you do

Yup, pretty crazy. Seems I may have found a NOS turbo for the GTti, don't recall if writing it but the turbine shaft is bent on mine and you can't get hold of them anymore. Hopefully the Polo will fund that :) The hatch is rust free though believe it or not, so I'll pop that off at the yard together with lights.

So the Polo is gone.. Didn't crash and wasn't pulled over so that's cool. Smashed it into gears, full throttle burn outs, rev limiter driving, over-revving downshifts and 180 reverse turns. Worn first/reverse spring made it less smooth.. Clutch slipped as I drove it into the yard. NO RAGRETS.

Picked up the 81 Charade from winter storage today and gave it a quick wash and just took a small drive down the road. Really needed that after sitting through winter; after sitting for some months the whole car really vibrates but then it's no problem when it's been driven. I do really love this car :)

Oh yeah and I really need to sell parts now, been sitting at Japanese auction sides for a while and there's quite a lot of Funcargo stuff I'd like.. Oh yeah and I was in the left lane with two identical boxes to my next lanes today in the Funcargo #CSB

Thanks man.. It has its flaws, but it's surprisingly good for what it is. It's never been restored and it needs one, but this year I'm gonna get that damn car on the road and drive it. I guess I'll do an oil change, cut, buff and wax it and do the rear brakes.. Try to drill up the ball joints, fill them with grease and hope it passes inspection :)

Notice the environment in the Charade pic, I've been on spring wheels on the daily for nearly a month. Today we had crazy amounts of snow and suddenly it wasn't spring anymore. That car ain't going nowhere lol.

Did some paint correction and buffing on my GFs Audi last week and figured I could do some work to the G10 while I was at it.. Clay bar (the two year old Audi was harder to clay than the G10...), ScratchX, polish and wax. Will try a harder compound carefully, as the hood still has a massive amount of scratches from who knows what has happened.. The doors and hood need a little rust tlc on the bottom, but it's nothing major. The rear quarters and one door has been repainted/part primered etc and looks like **** but I figure a decent spot paint job will do until I once restore the car.

Did come out a lot better, 50/50 before/after

I'm motivated about this car these days.. Plates this year, that's a promise people.. There I said it, remind me in June please :)

Also threw the brotiforms and a Golf Mk3 VR lip from my old Mk3 on the Funcargo daily today, because why not

The wheels are rubbing up front.. Of course. With the passenger side being a little tighter from a little mishap four years ago I figured I'd deal with it this year.. Pulled the fender liner and cut it up somewhat, removed the OEM flare and rolled the fender ever so slightly. Have to pull the fender and bumper support a little in a forward direction to make space for the front wheels without rubbing. I guess my new 17s will sort out a little bit too. Not too worried. Note to self; buy new fender liners before winter.

16852887600_7b5ea70307_b.jpg

Will clean and wax the fenders underneath the flares and make my rear flare setup.. Buy paint.. Make my little Funcargo somewhat more unique I hope :)

Found me another free shelf for the garage. Trying to clean it up a little and organize my **** this year, been too stuffed with everything the past year.

Found some cars yarding, stole some parts off em

Drove my 81 Charade charmer on Sunday.. :)

So I bought some paint.. Gonna try BMW Sepang Bronze on bumpers and flares, hope it'll sort of go with the champagne color on the daily. Now I need to sand and primer all the parts. @Ibonibo wanna sand? :D

 I need a massive break from all the sanding  . Sepang Bronze is a nice colour 👍 it will though be darker than the funcargo I think, but could give a nice suble contrast. Nice idea with the lip

Whats up with the ride height on the Charade? That isn't how you roll  :P

Gotta hotrod it you know.. Yeah it should be a good bit darker, I want the bumpers and flares to contrast the car but at the same time complement it..

The white Charade will get there. You know this :D Oh and I feel your pain about the sanding
17315422455_1d3248ec08_b.jpg

Rear bumper.. What's sweet is that the PP plastic is so soft, you can sand down around a scratched area and it shouldn't look half bad painted. I have to double check before paint, I hope I won't need filler.. Can't feel any height difference with my fingers anyway.. Found another turd, had one last donation made.. The rear door panel below the plate area.

One dirty turd.. Atleast my turd is cleaner

Gonna sand some more.. It all being soft plastic makes the parts really prone to rock chips.. The rear door and rocker garnish was nearly rock blasted on the edges. Good news is it's also easy to sand down the imperfections.. Laid down some primer some panels yesterday, it won't be perfect but it'll match the rest of the car. Gonna hit the primered parts with some 1200 grit paper I guess.. Gotta cut and adapt the rear fender flares too.
