Senator Warren's office has prepared a timely report on Musk. Link to PDF below

"SPECIAL INTERESTS OVER THE PUBLIC INTEREST:
ELON MUSK’S 130 DAYS IN THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION"

TL;DR:
In just 130 days under Trump’s administration, Elon Musk allegedly used his government role to funnel contracts, policy changes, and resources to his own companies—Tesla, SpaceX, Starlink, X, Neuralink, and more—while regulators were gutted, investigations were dropped, and Musk allies were installed across government.

He gained access to classified info, pushed foreign and domestic policy for personal gain, and refused to disclose his financial conflicts. The report frames this as a major ethics and corruption crisis, even if not all actions were illegal.

The Beeb are doing a "live" article to follow the conflict here.

Highlight for me so far is Trump describing Musk as "the man who has lost his mind".

Trump describing someone else as having lost their mind.

Trump did that.

Trump of all people.

Give him a break. He just discovered the human mind, he's excited to talk about something he only just discovered.

Musk has walked back his threat to decommission Dragon.
SpaceX enabled NASA to reduce its reliance on Russia for crew transport. The Russian flights had been costing the U.S. tens of millions of dollars per seat, for years.
Sounds like a bargain compared to what Musk is costing us.

Musk has been boasting about the roll-out of his "robotaxi" in Austin Texas to boost the stock price.

Reuters now reports that Tesla is attempting to prevent the city of Austin from releasing public records related to its planned launch of self-driving robotaxis. The company argues that the records contain confidential information that could harm its competitive advantage. The Texas Attorney General’s office is currently reviewing the request.

This is the same argument they used against releasing data related to fatal Tesla crashes where "Full" Self Driving was involved.

The narrative around Tesla's autonomous driving is carefully trimmed to eliminate any opportunities for criticism.

Lol, until the online global spat with Trump, this probably would've been an easy decision for Tesla's benefit.

It’s because Putin sent Diddy Don a Windows Upgrade Key.

It’s comes with easier ways to empty the trash without having to confirm it. Doesn’t come with Antivirus though.

The ketamine rush wore off at around the same time he realised who was handing him thise lucrative government contracts.
And most likely the Tesla investors gave him a reminder of why they told him to quit playing politician in the first place.

If he was the kind of person to listen to likes of them DOGE would've been strangled in its crib and a lot of needlessly sacked people would still have their jobs.

It wasn't Elon's idea to fire a bunch of people, that was something Trump has been campaigning on and has been a cornerstone of his intentions with a second term for a long time. He has been vocal about wanting to cultivate a more docile and complaint government at all levels. So firing people who would stand up for what's right was a big part of step one. He just thought Elon did a great job with twitter and wanted it replicated.

I feel you're underestimating the Thiel factor here.

TL;DClick: Thiel was one of the Couchlover's biggest donors in his senatorial runs, and swung the decision for Trump's VP pick. He and Musk were part of the original management team of Paypal prior to eBay acquiring it, both grew up in Apartheid-era South Africa, and both have utter disdain for liberal democracy.

He did listen to them, they just didn't say anything particularly threatening to his position until his actions with DOGE started having noticeably harmful effects on Tesla's financial standings. And I can guarantee that Musk knows full well that without their money propping up Tesla, his personal wealth and influence goes down the toilet just like any other CEO whose company is beholden to their shareholders nowadays.

Pedantic correction, Paypal was developed by a company called Confinity whilst Musk was working on his X.com, the original Paypal management was nothing to do with Musk until the two companies (X.com and Confinity) were later merged, and he'd been kicked out of the company by the time of the eBay sale, but still had a major shareholding, so lucked in to getting rich, despite originally wanting to closedown Paypal.
