Emotional Tingly Feeling...Music

Hello guys (and girls and...well, lets not go there...). I thought this would be the appropriate place to post such a story as that which you are about to read. Earier today, while riding the bus home to my house, I experienced something rather odd and unusual. I was listening to "Imaginary" by Evanescense, and it got to the part in the song where the chorus breaks in and the guitar is jammin' with the wawa, and all of the sudden, I get this emotional tingly feeling running down from the top of my head down the body. I've never felt anything like it, and would like to know if anyone else has ever experienced something like this, and what songs tend to have it. Thanks...
 
Evanescense was originally a Christian oriented band - this song was writen during that time. Maybe God was running his finger down your spine.

And by the way, I live in central Arkansas (home for Evanescense) and I must say that I am completely and utterly sick of them.

umm, no. you mean to tell me that you've never gotten so involved in the music that you get a tingly feeling? (very similar to when you suddenly get extremely scared and your adrenal gland kicks into high gear)
 
try listening to Thievery Corporation or Desmond Williams. i got the feeling the first time i heard Brooklyn Blues (desmond williams) and Richest Man in Babylon (Thievery Corporation)
 
I get it quite often right at real powerful parts of a song, like when the drummer goes off on a nice little solo or the guitarist kicks out an awesome solo, etc...
 
Yeah, I think most people have felt it. There's songs that even after hundreds of listens still give me that feeling. Makes me want to just go crazy and scream the words out, which I usually do if I'm alone in my car :).

Usually I do drum solos on my steering wheel, and I inevidably hit the horn a few times in the process.
 
I've experienced that loads of times ... can't think of all the songs though except,

Coldplay - Politik happens every time I listen to this one :O
 
I had very easy to get that feeling in my teens and then it was mostly with Midnight Oils and Dinosaur Jrs early albums. (e.g. Fossils) But that was a while ago and now it comes not so often.. Latest album that struck me again though was Matthew Sweets new "Kimi ga suki".
 
Yeah I only get it with songs where IMO the band just hook it up and make basically an amasing song. Like a few others I usually wanna scream along to and wanna start dancing crazy:) .
I also got it at a Red Hot Chili Pepper gig when they started playing By The Way and the whole crowd starting going along to the song and got carried with it.

That happens to me all the time while listening to music. But I have to be really into it. Any distractions will prevent it. Next time try and notice if it goes down any particular side of your body. In this way you can tell what half of your mind is more stimulated, the creative or logical. It can be both equally, too.

I have to say I'm surprised you've only had this experience once (so far). It's been a pretty imortant and regular experience for me for my whole life. I guess I'm happy for you to have "accessed" that level of experience and feeling. It is a good thing. 👍

edit: it's probably worth mentioning that exactly what kind of music (or book, girl, place, memory, abstract thought, work of art, etc...) is not important. It's just whatever moves you.
 
I'd say the part in Tool's "The Patient", where Maynard is saying "I must keep reminding myself of this.." over and over and then his voice goes up a couple octaves, not quite screaming but still singing. I just find that awesome.

I also get this kind of feeling everytime I listen to Lateralus (the "to feel inspired.." part) and Parabol/Parabola.

EDIT : Come to think of it, it's amazing what good music could do to you. It makes you feel good, cheer up... wow.
