Endurance saving

I can confirm that. If you enter the pit you will see in the dialogue box the option to save and suspend the race.

Unfortunately you have to exit the game and upon starting the game again you are returned to the race that you suspended, so you are locked to that event and can't do anything else in GT5 as long as the race isn't finished.

When you have saved an endurance race can you do other stuff or when you turn back on is that all you can do?

Yes, it's just like how if you suspended a championship mid way on GT4 you would not be able to do anything else until you either complete of exit the championship.

Cheers as well. Shame you can't do anything else after saving. None the less, it means no more PS3's being left on for days on end. :)

Personally, I'd rather NOT do any endurance, than to have this option of saving and resuming of races. And to FORCE resume, well, it's understandable, but definitely not something I'm a fan of either, so that brings me back to step 1, do the 24h in one sitting, rather than 2 or 6 sittings of one race, while I have to neglect others, oh wait, I can have more than 1 PS3 , right? lol

I don't mind this a bit, if I want to trash a capuccino (can't see a reason to want it though :D ) at London I'll use a different career in a different account.

BUT ... does this apply to online also? Meaning, am I locked out of online for as long as I have a endurance race going on? That wouldn't be nice, especially if we have pre-scheduled events with friends.

I'm a fan of endurance races, I don't race much else, I'm doing one right now and I didn't vote for the save option. I'd rather do it in one sitting despite how hard it can be.

I'm glad it came in because others really wouldn't have been able to do them without this feature.

Can we save mid championship now?

The longer championships like FGT are too long to do in one sitting. I've done all the races individually, but not as a "championship". Can I save and turn off the PS3 after race 1, 2, 3, etc in those long championships now?

You can save in championships. They added that a long time ago. 👍

This sucks 👎👎👎👎

I am doing the Suzuka 1000 right now (80 laps in) and was asking myself: If I am in the middle of an endurance and saved the game at pit stop, will the game be saved at that pit stop even if there is a power outage after I resume the race? Or is the save game lost after resuming the race?

I think it offers a good compromise i.e. only allowing you to continue the race once you've started it. The point of mid-race saving is to allow you to run the race without the need to something silly like play 24 consecutive hours or pause the game and leave the PS3 on overnight - you still need to commit to putting in the time to complete the race straight through. In this way, it also motivates you to complete the race in larger chunks, instead of doing it in tiny bits and pieces.

^^^ I agree fully...In this respect PD got the save feature exactly right...If they implemented a save that would allow you to flit about the site and do other things with other cars and races then it would completely destroy the concept of endurance racing...Finish what you started before anything else is allowed.Perfect!...👍

I could have sworn it was different for GT4. GT3 I am fairly sure this was the case but for GT4 I think it was possible to suspend the race and change the car's oil.

Can anyone try this: Start an endurance race, save in the pits, resume the race and then quit the game via PS-Button after resuming the race. Are you able to restart the race from the last saving point? I can not try this myself since I am in the middle of an endurance race.

I don't think that this will work since it would pretty much mean that you can restart at a certain point if you messed up. But it is worth a try and it would be useful against the dreaded power outages during endurance races.

Yes, in GT4, after a save, you could change your car's oil between races in a Championship Race Series. This could be done between races, not during a race.

Weirdly enough if you save in the pit entrance on Tsukuba 9 hours and resume again the car will drive itself. So it have been for 25 laps now. Has anyone experienced this?

See Post #12 here.

It appears that you have to ensure that you slow down before entering the pit. Just in case you want to retry to confirm his finding. 👍
