Does modding the cars make any difference to the sound of the engine when you're driving? I've not noticed any difference when you start the car up with the 'change car' option. I was just wondering really as I'm into all the accuracy of the engine noise etc.

Also, does every single car in the game have it's own engine sound recorded? Is this how PD went about it or do some cars share the same sounds? I find it hard to tell on some models and was hoping somebody has an answer.

1. Yes, modifications make a big difference in the way the car sounds.

2. I don't know how PD got the sounds recorded for each car but It's almost impossible to tell the difference between some because they're so bad but I'm sure someone can answer this a bit better than I can.

1000+ models of vacuums, hair dryers and leaf blowers. Recorded in a studio sound stage.

The sport exhaust sounds the best with big blocks imo. I'm not 100% sure but it seems as if doing the engine upgrades makes them sound more whiney.

It's one of the areas that I feel a bit let down with to be honest. Even with a decent volume and surround, quite a few of the cars have left me wishing the engine sounded a bit 'beefier' - if you get my drift.

And as far as I can tell, the engine start-ups don't seem to sound any different no matter what I do to them.

There is a another thread about engine sounds but in short you should be more than just a bit let down IMO because the engine sounds really are terrible.

Yeah they make i small difference but im especially dissapointed with the rally cars

I was just watching the xgames and MAN
Those cars sound amazing, especially from the inside
Theyre popping and spitting like crazy and the increasingly high pitch whine is absolutely amazing

Sadly the rally cars in gt5 dont sound much different from anything else

Not just the rally cars, all the cars in GT5 have terrible engine sounds IMO.

Edit: Yes, I do agree with you though.

There is a huge thread about this that I started a while back but all in all GT5 engine sounds are terrible and like you said most cars are missing the pure excitement that there real life counterparts have. 👎

All your cars sound the same because you upgraded the exhaust. Take it off and every car will sound different.

Ex: Lamborghini Murcielago SV. Leave exhaust stock and it sounds EXACTLY like the real one.

No, no, no.

I understand that installing certain exhaust on the car makes it sound different but I'm talking about the actual cars sounds in GT5... they're terrible.

I've said it and I'll say it again, there is a huge discussion on this topic but all in all the car sounds in GT5 do not sound exactly like their real life counterparts whether you like it or not.

IF ONLY the cars sounded like they do when you start them up in your garage!!! You'd have to drag me kicking & screaming out of my Mazda 787B!! :lol:I was just wondering really as I'm into all the accuracy of the engine noise etc.

To answer your 1st question, full racing exhausts & transmissions alter the sounds dramatically.

I did extremely annoying how most cars sound the same after they've been tuned. I remember reading somewhere 'each car will have a unique sound once tuned', or something like that. Hoping they will fix this in an update.

I don't know. From memory some of the premiums sound pretty close to real. Just not loud and raw enough - and a lack of back firing etc.

For most road cars, sports exhaust are the way to go if you care about the sound.

In my case, RB26DETT's with the fart can doesn't sound that obnoxious, and the semi-racing exhaust sounds sweet but it's a little bit off, hence I cut back to the sports exhaust.

I have to disagree:

Lamborghini Gallardo (V10 engine)

GT5 Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4SV (Sounds similar to the V10 from the Gallardo)

Real Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4SV (How a V12 should sound like)

And don't even bother about how terrible the sounds become after modifications :yuck: The Titanium Racing exhaust apparently includes chiselling off a number of cylinders from the engine :dunce:

I don't think the Murcielago sounds the same with the Gallardo in GT5.

Some do sound pretty close to real life but a huge majority of them don't. For instance the Honda Civic Type R '08 sound and pretty much all of the Honda sounds are completely slaughtered.

I hear PD got Fran Drescher for the fully customized transmission audio.

I really like the civic/integra R stock audio as well as the Viper ACR.

Yeah too many of the sounds are really poorly done in my opinion. Obviously sound isn't as high on the priority list for PD. Can't see how it will change

sorry to troll but, they did not do all the engine sounds with vacuums. it's a really bad joke someone has started.

Are you really going to say that's a complete lie? :ouch:

You must have no clue what cars sound like in real life. If you want to get into the engine sound discussion use the search bar and go rant in there.

Prove to me that it's true....

Do tell what i'm looking for. A bunch of people saying the cars sound like Vacuums? Bravo!
