EUI - Problems updating ?

I opened 6 of them and I got my update on first try.

Do any of you have problem with online play? My game has locked-up at least 10 times the last couple of hours. The game gets stuck on this black screen, with the silver GT logo(right before you get the list of other players in the race), the only thing I can do is terminate the game with the PS button on the controller.
I was thinking it might have something to do with the servers getting overloaded. Or maybe my PS3 is just too hot from playing GT5 all afternoon+evening.

That happens to me to... It's gettin' on my nerves!

PS: Got the update on the first try (Right after installing it)

Try setting UPnP to type 2 (in the options).

I'm trying this now and it seems to be going well, fingers crossed.
What is type 1/2 anyway?
I've looked it up in the online help (http://au.playstation.com/news/gt5onlinehelp.jhtml) and my assumptions are:
Type 1: Use this if your PS3 is connected directly to the internet
Type 2: Use this if your PS3 is connected via a router

OR

Type 1: Use this if your router has UPnP enabled
Type 2: Use this if your router has UPnP disabled

well... it is still downloading, so maybe my network setup is Type 2.

I have same kind problem with extra feature:my cable modem boots it self on black screen?

I have problems with GT5 Prologue updating too...

I try it 7 times and nothing...

I have wireless 3 MB conection, is this my problem?

There isnt an option to save the download progress and when you start again resume it??

When I did the update it stopped at 90% I went to GT-TV and I did the remaining 10% in 2 minutes(even though the progress bar starts back at 0)

It doesn't matter if you choose News, GT-TV, or Online, when you choose any of those it needs to connect to the internet, and the first thing it does is check if there are any online updates, if there are it starts downloading.

Ports are forwarded on my router, game was left updating right before I came online. I'm really loving all the fancy options, but I wonder if there will be part tuning on final GT5, QTS isn't quite what I expected. And we should be able to add some visuals, if there is a Tuned Clio V6 it would be nice if we could by some parts to aply on our normal V6, separetly.

But that is just a bit offtopic.

In your router. Usually by typing in an IP-adress in your browser.

D-Link is for example, 192.168.0.1 and then type admin in username (by default).

No no, so I start the Japanese version (with my Japanese account) and it displays a screen about an update, I click "Ok", I hit "Ok" again and I get this?

Hmmmm, okay, this is the first time I've started gt5p in my Japanese account. If I click what I presume is cancel it goes into GT5P but a bunch of the icons are faded out-indicating it needs to update first?


Has anyone with a Japanese version&account got the update?

PAL version is also off-line, they are doing some maintenance. Perhaps getting ready for the store download?

Ahhhh k same here. It's 1:37am Friday 28th in Japan, wasn't the update supposed to be out....? I'm confused.

I just read in the official PS forum that the servers are down for maintenance until the update is ready at 12am in japan tomorrow morning.

Shouldn't even have to open up ports and such, since the router does that automatically with upnp enabled.
It just says 'Probeer later nog eens' (dutch for try again later)

From what I understand when the update fails follow the following steps

1) go to the news area on the main menu
2) press the PS button on the controller
3) exit the game with the PS button
4) restart the game and the update will continue from where it stopped

So if you exit the game when in the news area it saves the downloaded update and continues where it left off. Try this and let us know if this works.

Ok I am willing to try anything now. I have updated my PAL game, but I have literally been trying all night to update my japanese game and I simply can not get the update. My bandwidth monitor says I have used gigs. So tell me how does this method work because you can NOT get into the news section if you dont have the update. So how are you supposed to do anything 'when in the news area'?

Ok it worked just after I posted that... But now I have to sleep to go to work
