I reckon the lightest of the fast guys out there will be Alonso, but we'll have to wait and see. I'd like to see Alonso come in 2 or 3 laps earlier than Schumacher. Eventful quali session though, looking forward to tomorrow's race.

edit: Looking at the official timing from Small_Fryz there Alonso was 2 tenths quicker than Schumacher in the second sector. This is the sector with the most elevation changes (pulling up out of the hairpin (Dunlop hairpin?)), so a heavier fuel load would show here the most.

Wow, that's a bad qualifying run for Webber, he's usually well up there in qualifying.

I don't want it to happen, but I can't see how Alonso will lose.

Crickey! For one occasion, the man putting on the fastest lap on Saturday actually gets the pole!

P.S : Why did I thought of Monty Python and the Holy Grail at the end of the first qualify round?

Haha nice. 👍

Good quali for a number of drivers, especially Barrichello, if he's got a good lump of fuel in then thats a great effort. I think Alonso and Schumi will be a very close battle, Massa is looking pretty neat too and maybe if he has more fuel could come into contention.

And, we get to see Williams storm through the grid from 22nd and Webber 20th. (Both having engine changes). Should be in for a good race. :)

Go Montoya...

Overslept this morning and missed it. :banghead:

Villeneuve ahead of Montoya, Fisichella and both Williams?

Now if Fisi could cut the whining about the 2nd session (JV would have been the cause for him not to make it to third session... I wonder who's fault it was last GP)

EDIT: the whinging paid off, it seems, he was penalised. Thankfully, he's only going back one place on the grid. When you're driving a Renault and you don't make it to the super-pole because of one lap, that's because you screwed up your second qualy session.

Fisichella seemed as angry as I was yesterday, dueling with the traffic on the WRS challenge. :ouch:

Carl.

Couldn't be anymore true.

Dropout.
i personally hope alonso blows up.
Blow up? That’s a little harsh—and we have rules about saying you want a driver to be killed or injured. :p

Its funny, we were (well most) all getting sick of MS winning all the time, now people are starting to get annoyed at Renault's performance. :p

What seemed so good has became so bad. Well I say go Alonso (and JPM) he is a world class driver and if no-one can keep up with him, it's not exactley his fault...

It'll be interesting though. Just to see how Alonso blasts off from the grid now that he doesn't have anyone blocking him. Guess we'll just wait and see . . .

It's going to be a great start. I love it when Alonso is in pole position. He always gets a great jump on everybody else.

I hope Fisi can do something with 13th place. :dunce:

Kimi fan here... but I have respect for Alonso. Anyways, I like it better when he's not in front of everyone else, but for the same reason as you. I love seeing him get a jump and gain positions through the first few corners.👍

He started from pit lane in 2005, but managed 6th—so he shouldn’t be in such bad shape at the Nürburgring.

It all depends what Ferrari are doing. Its definetly possible MS could hang with alonso all race and pass him in the pits.

Blake
…or on the track—it’s not such a crazy idea. :p

Are you serious!!?!! What have you been smoking to even think of such an idea!:dunce:  :dopey:

I hope I don't have to poop midrace.

Everybody hope and pray that Cosworth holds and the Williams boys don't get into a green-light tangle!

LOL. Did you guys see the marshall do a faceplant while pushing off one of the stalled GP2 cars?

Yep. And the podium driver dropping the champagne bottle to a team member below and he drops it, breaking it. Funny stuff.

Bernie was talking about how he took Niki Lauda on a walking trip around the corner where he crashed and burned years ago on the original Nurb course. They tossed a pig's ear in the grass, and claimed to have found his burnt ear during their walk. Cold, but very funny. Just my kind of joke, which Niki found very funny. 👍

EDIT:

I hope both Alonso and Fisi are running with very full fuel loads. The Ferraris are keeping excellent pace with Alonso, Kimi is the fastest man on the course and Montoya owned Fisi's ass.

Michael only one lap longer and Alonso's outlap was fantastic, keeping him ahead (and actually spreading the gap compared to before the pitstops). Good job so far from Alonso.

That was an excellent pit. Team Renault should be feeling pretty good right now for that one. If they keep doing that for Alonso, they should expect a 1st place finish today.

Cool, the Honda is on fire.

Michael is seriously gaining on Alosno! Oh boy. Fisi is doing battle with Jaques and Juan. I wish they would show more of this battle, but not take away from the MS FA battle.

Ferrari are back!

Schumacher easily staying with Alonso before Alonso's second stop even though he had 3 laps more fuel onboard. Schumacher's blistering laps before his second stop were incredibly impressive, coming out of his second stop comfortably (5 seconds or so) ahead of Alonso. I think it's fair to say Ferrari have the slightly better package now. Things might not be so good next weekend in Spain though, historically not a great track for Ferrari.

It looks like the tire issues for Ferrari are long gone. MS and the Ferrari team where fantastic. Impressive moves on their part.

Fisi and Renault finaly got ahead of Jacques. Down one position, up in another. But, still no points for Fisi.

Not a surprise result, but an impressive one from Ferrari's perspective. A good drive from Massa, but I still don't rate him very highly, due to his accidents in Bahrain and Australia. Great drive from Rosberg coming into the points from the back of the grid too.

Well, it wasn't a total victory for Renault, but it was a good one. MS did excellent, and has a well deserved victory.

Fisi got damn lucky, again, that two more cars went out and moved up to sixth.

Too bad Kimi couldn't pass Massa. That would've helped Renault point wise.

A lot better race than Imola. Not fantastic, but a very good race.
