As long as this thread is going strong there's one less retaliating driver in game to worry about.

Well QC-T-bird is still out there with the death beetle. And for what it's worth I do promise to try and keep my cool. Believe it or not I very rarely lose it, which is why I posted the video.

I think what bothers some is that I admit it felt good when exacted revenge. But the truth is it did in real time and I can't pretend it didn't.

But my overall take away from the event was that I was wrong and I need to not engage in such activities if I want to remain in the SRS world.

Anyyyyyway, hopefully I speak for many folks here when I say, "More threads with original content would be welcome!"

Right! and I finally learned to use share factory which I had hoped to be a secondary part of this discussion since there isn't much discussion about how to use it. It is a good tool to make useful content.

Good fun when on track bumping turns into online forum arguing.

I ran two sport mode races today on GT, smashed off track both times and hung it up.

I then ran 4 hours online Assetto Corsa with dozens of people I've never met and had zero contact.
Folks were even moving over to allow those on hotlaps through.

I don't understand how the aggression manifests so quickly with GT Sport.

Completely agree.
You hit him, he hits you back, some guy gets wiped, then some more hitting happened and the red mist settled in. Bad stuff happens in the red mist you know, best to try and stay clear from it. ;) :p

Well it doesn't bother me at all that it felt good to you, what I don't understand is why this thread is going and going and going. It was one race with a few incidents in it, then you went off. So what?

Hit the track and next time just beat the bugger to the line 👍

LOL...is this for real ? This happens all day and night in every race...I race to have fun and enjoy the game but I don't take too much stuff either. If someone needs to win so badly at a video game they must be a big loser in the real world. Cheaters and cry babies..

The reason this thread took off the way it did was Famine. Up until then there were a bunch of reasonable comments that ranged from "you were both at fault" to "the guy had it coming" but generally constructive conversation around the incident.

Then Famine decided he had to place the entire blame on a tiny bump that I was not even aware happened and likely neither was he. But worse, FAR FAR worse was in the middle of that discussion Famine started messaging me offline about double posting and giving me warnings about forum rules.

This is a pretty bad breach of authority in my opinion as it was clear he was using his admin power to exact revenge on me for disagreeing with him.

Huh, kind of a parallel of what happened on the track!

Regardless, outside of that I find it an interesting and eye opening discussion. I do genuinely wonder now if more people, like Famine, think that the tiny bump in the last corner is some noteworthy infraction and worthy of the serious retaliation I was a victim of later?

Maybe I have something to learn. but if that is the case then so does just about every single player in the game. Except Famine I suppose who must have never touched another car in his life.

Contact in the last corner. I think we have been over this. So what?
The contact itself is inconsequential in and of itself but it is the beginning of a series of incidents and adds to the overall effect.

Yes I caused the Porsche to spin out. admitted it already. Do you think it counts against me again to mention it AGAIN?
Didn't see that, sorry.

You can read my intent? I was not intending to leave him a lane, but yet I did leave him a lane? How does that work Are you Famine posting under a different name?
Your intent is determined by the direction you are heading up the track and the fact that he made contact with you twice and changed the direction of your car in doing so. It's quite clear on the video.

And again as I have stated since the VERY FREAKING BEGINNING OF THIS THREAD I was seeking revenge after he knocked me twice in the previous corner. I have not been shy about admitting this.
Understood. I just think your revenge is misplaced and you were as big a contributor to the reason for you to feel that way as he was, even moreso IMO.

Really, we were both wrong? so you'd say my revenge was petty right? read the title of the thread and thanks for the hard hitting analysis Famine2
Thanks, that's quite the compliment. Not so much for @Famine maybe but I'll certainly take it. Beggers can't be choosers they say:sly:

You are ignoring pre him hitting me very hard TWICE in succession and POST him hitting me. Everything you say post hits are valid, but it is not a matter of debate as I have admitted it from the very beginning. He hit me and hit him back. He punted me off the track and I punted him back.
I didn't ignore it I addressed them directly. The contact in turn 2 appears to be accidental. As I said he was only on half throttle. Surely if he intended to wipe you out he would have had his foot to the floor. Either way there was no harm done. In the next corner it still appears from your video that contact was made with a car behind him and that might have propelled him into you. A video entirely from his perspective would be most helpful. In any case, you had regained the position within 2 corners and into the corner after that he braked early and avoided contact and then also left you plenty of room in the next corner while he went two wide. You then chose to let your car make contact with his and push him to the outside of the track.

Take it any way you like, but I think the whole revenge aspect is misplaced. It's revenge when someone comes out of nowhere and destroys your race and you get back at them for it. This didn't come out of nowhere. In his mind I'm quite certain he thought the same thing as you did when you posted this video. You tried to push squeeze him off the track a couple of times, made incidental contact in the last corner, possibly squeezed him onto the rumble strips (video from his perspective would work here). He was just giving you what for, for driving in what his mind was an unsportsmanlike manner.

EDIT: If you are getting warnings about double posting why are you continuing to double post??

OK a video of his perspective upcoming.

EDIT: Here you go:

Honestly though I am largely in agreement with most of what you say. My only quibble is this whole notion of "trying to squeeze him off the track" when he was NOT forced or squeezed off the track. If I wanted him off the track in those cases he'd have been off. Witness later in the video when I DID decide to take him off the track.

Had I INTENDED to squeeze him off the track at the end of the straight I would have positioned myself right against the rumble strips which is where I usually position myself for that corner. Instead I placed myself exactly one car width inside my normal position here exactly BECAUSE I was leaving him room.

I just don't accept the idea that I "trying" to force him off track when he was NOT forced off track, and he in fact always had track to use.

Sometimes you have a little SR-S fun money in your pocket though and the wrong guy messes with you and you spend that SR-S excess rating on a little door to door action

A few people in this thread suddenly woke up in a world where no contact ever happens in GTSport I guess, and no one ever uses their track position to execute a pass.

I guess we all just always instantly evaluate the skill of the driver ahead of us and always leave them enough room to make any mistake we can imagine they might make, otherwise we are horrible aggressive drivers. oh my!

I have said before I think the answer to this is even further stratification of the SR points. It is pretty easy to get to 99, yet very difficult to get to DRS.

If the top SR rating was say, 200, and 200 was very hard to achieve people would be continually striving to improve their ratings to get better matches. Also the top rating would be very hard to hang on to. As in at that level even one or two penalties in a race would take you down a few notches.

I was actually all the way down in B for a few races with the Brazilian gang and let me tell you I had forgotten how bad it was down there. Taught me a lesson to not let that happen again. I'll take SRS over that any day.

Funny me preaching that on a thread about me losing my ****. But again that is a lesson learned too. Hopefully next time I will maintain my cool. Although in SRS I am not sure I have had someone blatantly trying to take me out repeatedly like that. The bumps and punts in SRS are almost always easy to chalk up to lapses in judgement and eagerness. Quite often the punter will then slow down and give your position back.

I think that will only make it worse. There are no better matches at SR.S just a bigger gap between first and last place due to less choice for match making to work with. The big difference between abilities is one of the bigger reasons for incidents. An all B/B room works better than a C/S to S/S room. Especially when there are DR.A players that didn't qualify and are working their way up from behind. Maybe I just got lucky 5 days in a row on SR.B and unlucky with matches in SR.S. The track makes a big difference as well and of course getting placed higher on the grid in an all B/B room, less accidents to dodge from the front.

If 'true' SR.S becomes an even smaller group then the range in abilities is only going to get wider with higher chances of incidents due to mismatched drivers. It could ofcourse get so small you simply drive in a widening progression in starting order.

Ofcourse bumps happen in SR.B as well. Yet there I see people brake and hold back on contact. In SR.S, sure there is the odd person that actually slows down and lets you go first when they're at fault, however far more often they keep going, never letting go of the gas. Then I get a sorry in the chat after the race, umm it's still a hit and run if you don't slow down.

Anyway it was pretty similar to me SR.B or SR.S, with the big difference, no dirty driver calling after the race or revenge hits. At SR.B I guess people expect stuff to happen and don't get upset about it, or don't want to risk falling down to SR.C. Plus they really appreciate it when you slow down after hitting someone by accident and give them room. In SR.S it's like you murdered their child and are only lining back up behind them to do it again... yet now I see they want to punt me off instead :) Which explains the odd Mexican stand off I had with someone I bumped accidentally, waiting for him to go while the whole pack went by, him waiting for me to go.

Perhaps it would be better to have real differences between SR classes. Make it harder to gain points at higher levels. Instead of getting a point for a clean sector, only gain a point if you were in close proximity to another car in that sector. Make the proximity requirement smaller for each level. Also punish more severe at higher levels. Hit someone so they go off road or into a wall, extra penalties. Plus make it mean something:
SR.S Add full damage, yet if you cause a wreck, drop to SR.A
SR.A No more ghosting and resets, temporary damage
SR.B Penalties are permanent, yellow flags (fix it first)
SR.C No yellow flags
SR.D No time penalties for hitting cars
SR.E No time penalties at all.
Ofcourse the race should clearly state the rules up front, the average SR class of the group determines the rules.

Then you have a reason to climb up, or perhaps you could have an option to set you max SR level if you prefer to play it as an arcade racer.

I think both of you are in fault.

He for not knowing his breaking points and not going trough the ''learning'' of basic physics, track-knowledge.
You are in my opinion at fault as well, almost forcing him off track at 50:00 and escalating an situation that you did not have to.
The other guy is just an casual racer that lacks the patience to wait for the right moment for a clean overtake, you doing your whole revenge thing just keeps spreading bad racing ethics in the lover brackets and in general.

You sir deserve as much punishment on your SR that the game is capable of giving you.

It's hit and miss with GTS. Smart drivers can see you're clearly quicker and holding somebody up. They'll move over without a fuss (very sportsman like) Smart drivers also give a position back after they've unintentionally punted someone.

Then the other end of the spectrum you have spastics punting deliberately or non-deliberately and take the position anyway. And they don't move out the way when they're struggling for grip while you're trying to find your way around..

OP: Is gmaki your PS4 screen name? Just asking.

To take revenge is never ever a good idea until watching the Replay closely and by then it is to late.
To ofthen i got killed by a other Driver who tells me that i bumped him and in the Replay it is visible that either i was almost pushed of track because he didnt gave me the Room on the outside of a Corner or not even a Contact happend because it was a other car hitting him.
I got absolutely smashed into the wall by the last positioned in the last manufacturer race because i almost spon him out when i just tried to stay on the track after he got at my inside (i braked to late and got wide) and then at the Exit didnt give me Space. (I was already on Curbs and just tried to stay off the green)
But he in the next hairpin just didnt brake at all and took also risk to hit someone just behind me and just managed to not destroy his race too. I mean we were at the end of the S/S A/S Driver field anyway and there was no reason for this. I contacted him afterwards to watch the replay, but there was no Response at all.
Ist horrible how many of These aggro guys are in the A/S bracket.

“A racing incident? Nah that’s a classic T-bone sir”

The problem starts at the first corner where i am sure he felt provoked by you touching his car in a corner made for wipeouts. It then goes from bad to worse in the scuffle between 3 cars. But judged from the braking lights he had every intention of ramming you of the track before he actual did.

And the parts where you "squeeze" him, is just as much him holding on to a space that isn't there for him. In other words, i have done the same to someone that was just a bad, but i did quit the race when i got my revenge, i did not deserve anything better...

If you roll back that race, and let the dude pass you would have every chance to take that place back with honor :-)

If you roll back that race, and let the dude pass you would have every chance to take that place back with honor :-)

Yes I believe this is the true answer and frankly my ultimate takeaway. I was faster than him right from the start and would have easily passed him at a later point if not during a pit cycle.

I think another part I have to be honest with myself after watching the vid is that I qualified 8th but due to an autodrive SNAFU I ended up starting like 15th so I think I felt entitled to at least get back up to that point. Lack of patience was my biggest problem there.

I was also immensely frustrated because my goal going into that race was ironically to drive clean, even if it cost me a spot or two, as I had prioritized recovering SR from the previous night. All of this knowing I was among the SR-B's and should expect some rough treatment and just let it roll of my back. So to have that as goal and then have this dude (at least seemingly) taking a vendetta out on me really thwarted my plan.

Okay, I usually not attracted to this kind of thread, but after seen your video and read through pages I've got interested so here is my own thoughts :

First of all, I understand your outrageous decision to punt your opponent at the end. Myself would feel the same when get the same treat like that. Really annoying. However, I think you should take consideration what you have done is actually not really solve the problem. I know you might aware of that, but maybe you get too annoyed to think any rational decision and instead got emotional and lose your composure. I respect you and not blame you by the way. It is matter of human nature I guess, sometimes we act dumb and didn't think any consequences we might get. Like this case for example.

If I could give my own opinion I think it would be better just to stay focus on race and at least crossed finish line at minimum. Even though you are at last position and SR get dropped but it is not such a huge losses like crashing into your opponent. Also, I believe that those aggresive punters will likely get their own karma later... They will learn their lesson for being reckless and irresponsible at the track in some point.

Also, this incident could be used for future lessons to drive and behave more responsibly. Not just you and me though but anyone who played this game (and those who read this thread of course) to be a better driver. And hopefully not making these kind of incident happened ever again. 👍

I find it comical how some of the more self righteous folks continue to point out how wrong you were - for the things you admitted were wrong in the first place. When my wife apologizes after an argument (very rare - but has happened), I know to just say thank you, and give her a cuddle. I do not go on about what she's admittedly done wrong - that would be relationship suicide!

Just to be certain about your opinion regarding track position though. Would you find it ok to make side to side contact on a straight, as long as you don't force someone off the track surface? I'm guessing your answer is no, and you just got wrapped up in the heat of that battle. I'm all for making someone have to run a line they don't like, but any intentional contact at all is forbidden. If someone next to me holds their line, there's nothing I can do but get close and hope they move over.

All in all, good discussion. I can appreciate when someone is big enough to admit wrong and try to help others learn from their mistakes.

That reminds me of when I hit DR.A in he Fittipaldi races. First time I got someone cursing me out through pm on psn. He did the same in the chat in game. I simply replied I would check the replay as I didn't know what he was talking about.

On the replay it showed the big mess of the first turn and slalom with me positioning myself to the right of the middle of the track for the corner. I was a bit slowed from avoiding people bumping into each other in front of me and already had 5 cars to keep track off coming into that corner. He was coming up on the outside and I only left him 1.5 car widths of track so he bumped into me with no further harm done. I brake and take the turn. He for some reason clearly brakes way too late on the replay and ends up wide in the grass, for which he blamed me. I was already long gone and the contact happened a few seconds before he started braking and I started turning.

Next race, same people, he called me out again straight away. So I told him what I saw in the replay and he was quiet. Then in that race worse crap happened and now he's getting the full blame, while he's claiming it wasn't him. Karma? On the replay of that race, he did bump into the person that was accusing him, in the chicane on his own accord of not anticipating the traffic. Yet in the fatal knockout in the hairpin directly after it was indeed another car that crashed into him first causing a chain reaction. Welcome to A/S :)

I'm glad there is always a replay, and nice that you can see it from the other car's perspective. And always keep more distance to laggy players. I've seen on my own replays that what looked like a near miss in the race was actually me tapping another car with a delayed reaction. 5 frames in the replay later the other car suddenly responds to something hitting it while it never showed any contact on my part. So from his point of view I probably drove into him.

I do not think INTENTIONAL side to side contact on the straight is acceptable at all and unintentional side to side contact is bad in that the only way it could happen is for someone to have made a mistake. That being said I did not make contact with this guy on the straight. I left a car width on the outside of the track and at that I only did it for about a tenth of second (not that I would blame myself if I had closed him out longer than that).

So no until he hit me twice and I started retaliating I don't think I did anything wrong and certainly nothing intentionally malicious that should prompt someone to retaliate. i think he just got bested and he didn't like it.

This guy is a SR-B driver, with his messages blocked. I suspect this is just his normal way of driving.

I just got out of the 10 lap interlagos race and a guy passed me on the inside of the first turn while I was braking for slower car. Scraped side to side during the whole pass. Didn't bother me one bit. That is just racing. Rubbin' is racin... boogity boogity boogity!

Oh, that is because I read the rules about double posting and I am not breaking them. Not to mention the only reason Famine started warning me about it is because I was not agreeing with him.

Like I said not a good like for an admin.

You're funny, and quite possibly not long for this (GT) Planet.

Ironic that we're posting about this in a thread brought about by you being punted.

It's interesting you believe yourself to have a better grasp of the rules here than a member of staff.

It's a very simple request: don't needlessly double-post. Responding to more than one person, three minutes apart, is not a good reason; there's both an Edit button and a +Quote button that makes it very much possible to do in a single post.

Really, it has nothing to do with your opinion on your race — we ask the same thing of plenty of other members when they do the same thing. 99% of the time, they don't go off on an insult-laden rant.

So, for at least the fourth time now: don't double post. If we're going to continue discussing the bad driving in that video — from all involved — let's continue on, shall we? 👍

thread that seems to have gone on several hours. Same old duplication of threads.

1. Accidents happen. People are not F1 drivers standard.
2. What is this SR grinding about. Just drive and have fun. Its not massively cleaner at SR B than it is D/C from experience
3. It doesn't sit comfortably with me with some admins posting their own views so frequently and instead not just tidying up the forum.
4. In 6 months time the OP should look at the video again and ask themselves if they are now driving in a completely different way racecraft wise.
5. After every incident no matter if your at fault, ask yourself if there is anything you could do differently to avoid the colllision? If you do that after every contact you will become better. Learning how not to put yourself in a position to be hit in the first place is an art in itself. ( to be clear, this obviously doesnt mean you wont be hit at somepoint..)

4 minutes between posts and just for quoting older posts clearly is a forbidden double-post in every forum I know. Is it really that hard to hit "+Quote" twice and add both in the reply texbox?

BTT: I saw the footage of your driving before this whole discussion started and exactly thought, what @dylan86_exe wrote.
Yes, you maybe got hit (unintentionally?) by that guy but then it was you not leaving him any room, forcing him wide and then later, like @Famine said steered into him pushing him off track. Sorry, but I'd rather race with that Beetle driver than with you. @daan's way of dealing with rammers and unfair racers is the only one that acutally teaches them a lesson: race clean and you end up with a better result.

Define "request" because I think you and I must have a different understanding of that word.

Also define "needlessly" because again I do not think we have the same understanding of that word.

Define the exact amount of time that can pass before it is acceptable to double post.

One thing you are right about, when you make vague rules and leave them up to the interpretation of mods who do not apply them consistently it is true that a user could not possibly understand them better than the admin who makes it up on the fly, and based on his particular mood and personal feelings toward the "offender"

You don't like it, clarify the rules and don't word them so vaguely.

Is it really that hard to hit "+Quote" twice and add both in the reply texbox?

Yeah it actually is quite the pain in the ass to edit an existing post to add a quote from and entirely different user, and pretty stupid now that I am doing it.

As far as preferring to drive with the beetle driver just get your SR rating down to B or C and you can get matched up with him! Don't leave it at S though cause you may actually get matched up with me.

And if you do hit me three times within 10 seconds and then punt me off the track I might punt you too. No I won't. I swear. I have learned.
