Apparantly, Damage Plan were playing in a club, and a random guy came up on stage and shot him in the face from point blank range.

He was an excellent guitarist, and I really loved Pantera. I also didn't mind a little Damage Plan, but there's no doubt Pantera was his best work. He was a very talented guitarist.

Luckily Vinnie wasn't hurt, but RIP Dimebag. I think it's time for some Pantera in memory...
 
Pantera was great until Reinventing the Steel.

I've been thinking. What is Phil going to say? He and Vinnie (I believe) had big differences which led to Pantera's demise, so I don't think he and Dimebag got on that great either. Also, the fact that Heroin has demolished half of Phil's brain, and the fact that Phil makes some stupid comments, really makes me wonder what he's going to say. If anything...
 
Whoa, this sucks hard. He had some of the most awesome, powerful riffs and solos I've had the pleasure of hearing. My ears will miss him, RIP. :(
 
This is friggin terrible!!!! I couldnt believe when I hear about it this morning! :guilty: :guilty: I heard about the shooting but they just now said that he and the lead singer were killed. Thats is more aweful than any words can express especially since I have met Dimebag several times at the concerts. I even caught a few of his guitar pics that he threw into the croud. I will post a pic of it tonight when I get home. What a shame. Such an incredible tallent gone to waste. :guilty:

Funny - At Pantera.com they say that Dimebag and Vinnie was shot..

I don't know what to believe, but no matter what I'm very sad.. And I feel sorry for the family...

They both were shot. Dimebag is dead. Vinnie lived.
I only heard and saw on the news that Vinnie was shot I can not confirm this.
 
A lot of people dont realize that Vinnie and Dimebag are brothers, so imagine the pain Vinnie is feeling now with the loss of his brother and the pain of seeing the entire event. :guilty:
 
Damn! This the end of DamagePlan! They were supposed to be the next generation of Pantera. I didn't know that the lead singer was shot and killed, too. It's sad to see someone go shoot such a great lead guitarist like Dimebag just because "He broke up Pantera". That's what the shooter said when he SNUCK UP from behind and shot him in the head. That's the most foolish reason to shoot and kill a person i've ever heard.

I just heard that there was a video actually shot inside of the same nightclub,
and IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED THAT THE LEAD SINGER IS DEAD. The video is currently being looked at from the Local Cops in Columbus, Ohio. And the name of the name of the shooter has been released, But for fear of breaking the forum rules, I will not say his name at this time.
 
I hope the guy suffers for what he did... Anyways, i'm off to listen to cowboys from hell

damn I'll miss their sounds :(
 
He will be missed horribly. He's the guitarist that inspired me the most through the years.

I'm just numb here and I've been listening to Pantera all afternoon on my PC here at work through my headphones but Goddamn, I'd love to play it loud right now like it should be.

RIP Dimebag and get well soon Vinnie.
 
This is horrific, truly, I cannot believe this has happened.
I guess now, i don't know what to say, the amount of Rage i am experiencing makes me wanna get revenge on anyone else responsible for this atrocity.

Is there any news on what this guys motive might be? It seems extraordinarily weird that he would pick a band to shoot up.
 
He was apparantly an avid Pantera fan. Anyway, could someone link me to the source that says Vinnie was shot and the Singer was killed. I heard that it was confirmed that Vinnie was unharmed, and I haven't seen that the Singer has been killed.

I haven't listened to anything other than Pantera since I heard. Phil made a comment to friends that he was "devastated".

A sad time for Metal.
 
This just doesn't make any sense. Why would a fan try to kill the band members? He obviously had some mental problems.
 
It does seem strange that a fan the guitarist of a band he likes, and such a good one too.
This isn't of course the first time a fan has killed the one they admire.
Remember Selena? John Lennon?
Strange motives for sure, but we won't know until maybe tomorrow, to next month.
