maybe morons was a little over the top, but still I am just hoping they don't go down the arcade way. And just because I made that comment does not mean I am a XBOX360 fan boy or FM2.

I didn't take it that way, some did. I play GT and FM, so I used to having to stick up for both and slam both as well. But whenever one of them pisses me off I just leave it alone for awhile. Nothing we can do about anything PD does PERIOD!

Anyway since some are going on about the "Real Driving Simulator" why is it we have to unlock cars? I man seriously, when in real life do we have to unlock a car to drive it? Normally if we have the money we just buy it!

I have to unlock my car every time I drive.

I think you are taking things a bit too literally. It's called the "Real Driving Simulator," not the "Real Life Simulator."

It's a game, and as such there are 'features' in place to offer a lasting experience.

I agree on that one!

ok, I get what you mean.

What i meant is unlock it in the sense of making it available to drive in the first place.

:sly: Couldn't resist that.

And I think Z's post about sums it up

In real life you need to earn money to buy the car, in GT5P you need to earn money (credits) to buy them also.

I don't want access to all cars off the bat, I like to race and earn them.

Well with the Formula 1 on here in Australia today, the lucky winner unlocks unlocks Ferrari Enzo, where they get the chance to buy it for $750,000(random figure), but there not allowed to tune it until they have completed there C,B,A racing halls.

Too drive a bad ass car you gotta be a bad ass driver.

So complete C,B,A and S racing halls complete the game you getthe bad ass cars you bad ass driver.

I think it's called rewarding

It's nice to see by recent comments that it isn't just a portion of the NA population that would prefer to expend as little effort as possible and yet still have everything, that sentiment is coming in from everywhere.

Having cars to unlock drives some of us forward and the challenge makes playing the game rewarding. Does everything have to be dumbed down to the lowest common denominator, always, just for you and yours?

eastley, I can't understand why you keep going on and on about this being "the real driving simulator" when you said yourself you are not skilled enough behind the wheel to work your way through GT4? Wait for awhile, someone will have a complete GT5P save for you to copy, and then you can have all the cars.

I swear they need to put the sticker from my Driving Force Pro (Not For Kids!) on the Gran Tourismo series-it's more than just a game at this point.

We do not have the full picture...If PD put restrictions into GTp then there will be a reason, not that we will know why for a while or ever. it wont simply be there for no reason. Why do you need to collect money? you earn money, you buy all the cars then what you want to earn money just to see how much you can get? I tend to agree with the idea posted earlier in that PD don't want people carrying millions over into GT5.....you could in principal buy every car in the game on day one giving you a HUGE online advantage and in compertitions.
This whole "Carrying Millions over" theory is ridiculous. I highly doubt PD is going to give any player the opportunity to have 2 millions at the very least at the beginning of GT5.
PD are not the sort of folks to give anyone such an easy start. If anything, PD will give you a couple extra thousand to carry over.

This whole price cap deal is still seriously ridiculous. It's going to make it easier to acquire many cars because many folks can rack up $2 million within hours. Besides that, why would PD suddenly drop cars such as the Audi R8 race cars from $4.5 million to $2 million?

Considering these things, it seems very likely a price cap will be gone in GT5.

i think what he fails to realize is that no matter how realistic a game can be, it will always be a video game.

anwyay, I'm still waiting for amar's answer to my viper question :(

I prefer an open game, no restrictions where all you have to do is race, earn your $$$ do upgrades, buy more cars etc. All this unlocking stuff, not being able to do this or that unless you have done this, that makes it a ARCADE GAME!!!

Yes I am an average driver, it took me a long long time to finish GT4, or 99.8% that I did, and that is enough for me, I don't need all this other stuff, all you folk who can spend hours and hours playing need it. Myself and some others don't need or want all this arcade type features to make the game longer or even harder, I just want to drive, work harder and harder to shave every second possible of my lap times, thats what I find enjoyment, making goals for myself, I may not be able to touch most of you lads on a track, but I work just as hard to get close.

You're not trying to figure out the year still, are you? If so, I answered it. It's a 2006 model.

As do I, I like to earn credits to buy my cars and parts.

Wait, what is all this unlocking stuff? It's just quick tune in GT5P right?

eastly, I think you kind of painted yourself into a corner with your original comment. but I don't think your 100% wrong. I think instead of unlocking, it should be license dependent just like real life racing licenses. As long as you have the money you should be able to buy what you want, but if you want to enter a race with it you better have the license!

Well, feel free to join the WRS. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=98749

Most games feature unlockable content. I don't know what else to say.

Maybe PD is trying to tell you something by making the faster cars unavailable without demonstrating some skill first?

The license system I can understand to a degree, but the rest I don't. IRL you have to earn licenses etc to get in to series, so the licensing in the GT series is fair.

i still dont get why youre criticizing gt5p for these things.

And what happens to drivers like me? who are average at best and struggle to win races etc and can not unlock the cars we wish to drive? I know most will answer "Then Practice" but some times if you don't have the skills then you don't have it. But there should be a way where we can enjoy a game, I like racing, in fact I love it, but because I am nothing more than average I can't enjoy all 100% of games.

Where are you getting this car unlocking part from? (beside buying cars) Have I missed it?
