I don't think its cheating to nicely rebuilt your worn-out race car by duping it and saving this 1,000,000 credit rip off at GT auto.

Who's with me? :)

My minolta is about to rattle to bits so I was thinking about that earlier. When you gift it it's all repaired?

No you just backup before the repairs.

Then you make the repairs on your main account and gift it to your dummy account and back to your main account.

Although it is a complete rip off, it is only a game afterall.. I wouldn't do it personally as i wouldnt feel the same accomplishment at the end of the game if I knew i'd have got round the system. I'd rather do it the proper way or not at all! I even feel guilty cutting a corner to gain time!

So you'd rather be ripped off by a million credits? Am I understanding that correctly?

Tip: It's not real money 👍

Which is why I said credits and NOT dollars. NEXT!

1 millie is easy to get :)

Yeah, if you'd like to waste 40-45 minutes' time.

Personally, I could be bothered less to grind for credits especially when it's 5 laps on roundy rounds over and over and over again. This is now why I have started to do the seasonals on my alternate accounts to get some extra cash flowing.

And if anyone is going to come in here and say "It takes no skill to dupe, but tons of skill to grind!!1!111!," then I respond with: It does not take any skill to drive on a round rectangle in a video game on a console. Granted, if I were on the PC doing that I'd probably have more fun, but there is no fun in running the Indy oval on GT5 with these horrible AI.

I would start duping those super expensive cars..

My s.vettel x2010 that bspec has used to grind to level 40 has over 50k miles and has had numerous engine rebuilds during that time, and now, has 20hp or so less than when it was new and loses roughly 3hp each time it is rebuilt :(

It's completely ridiculous, in 6 months time all my expensive cars will be ruined / uncompetitive compared to 0 mile examples ?

Everything I have in the game I worked for (with the exception of the 330p4 / ford 67 which I birthday exploited right at the start :-|), but now after grinding and grinding and grinding some more, earning everything, you find that the car wear is not entirely fixable

blah.. dupe on I say, I was going to do everything the hard way but if they are placing ridiculous things like this in the game to make you grind even more later on, then there is no reason not to dupe, especially those cars like the s.vettel x2010 which can never be replaced just by buying a new one.

If stealth / chromeline cars behave the same too, what value do they really have other than as garage queens you can not enjoy ?

who knows about the chassis rebuilds, maybe they do the same and eventually the cars handling becomes dire no matter what you do ?

There's nothing wrong with it at all.

I have done it on occasion. I wish PD had included an indicator of how badly a car needed either of the refreshes or how many miles you have done in the car since the last engine refresh and one for body refresh. It is impossible to remember the mileage on every car in the garage.

With some cars I have refreshed them, duped them, painted them & they are then reserved for online & arcade use only.

I can agree with this, I was against duping until I got tired of doing loops, I have about 600+ recorded wins, and only ~40 of those were doing races other than 'Like the Wind Indy' or the 'American Championship Indy'. :indiff:

Also the Cost for Chassis and Engine rebuilding is far too expensive, it should be at most 100,000, not 500,000.

I feel duping is fine. I do it to save money and try collect rare expensive cars. And since you can only dupe one car per day what's the problem?

Get out of here you dirty duper. You don't deserve to play GT5!

Sorry, just thought I'd try being on the other side of the fence there for a change!

I say go for it, it's your game. For all the defending I've done of people being allowed to duplicate their cars I think I've only ever duped two cars. One was the FGT, I have no interest in racing it apart from the events that I have to, so I don't see why I should spend 6 million credits (5mill on the car and another 1mill on restoring the body and engine) on a car I'm going to do a few races in and never drive again. I'd rather spend those credits on cars I actually want to drive. The other car was the Lexus LFA, cause I wasn't spending 300k on a car I just wanted to buy to get the paint chip to spray a set of wheels on another car I was only going to use in photomode.

So I say yes, do whatever you please, you aren't hurting anybody by doing it.

Edit: Actually, make that 3 cars. I came across two multi million credit rally cars in the UCD and only had enough money to buy one. So I bought it, sent it over to another account, reloaded my save and sent it back, then I was able to buy the other one too. I wasn't missing out on the chance to get both cars, god knows when they would turn up again.

I agree. I know how it feels to grind for a couple weeks to buy a multi million cr car then realize you spent all your cr and the car really sucks to drive.

I do agree with some people that grinding is boring. But I feel kinda lame for doing it time after time while others just dupe the **** out of their PS3. I really work hard (well....what can you call hard work xD) for my virtual cars.

You can make money so easily in this game though, why would you want to go through the hassle of duplicating a car?

I have 5mill credits and want a 5 mill car. I can buy that car and be back at 0 credits or I can do a data save, buy the car, send to friend(alternate account), copy game save back from usb and send car back to myself from alternate account...all of which takes a monumental 5 minutes max.

Not taking into account the easy and quick seasonal events, how many hours or days would it take to "earn" 5mill credits? Even in the seasonal events, it would take a lot more than 5 minutes to make 5mill.

I work my butt off to buy and build the cars I have in real life. I am certainly not going to waste hours to get a digital car in a game.

PD really have to fix the Engine Rebuild and Chassis Maintenance times because I'm sure it doesn't take 100 races to require the engine to be rebuilt. And I'm sure that a car that has 67km doesn't need an oil change or Chassis Mainenance or an Engine Rebuild

Even though chassie repair is expensiv I would feel like a cheater if i was duping. And grinding dont need to be boring, try different cars witch has a equal pace as the ai and the racing is much more fun:)
