Experience points... anyone figure out a rhyme or reason?

So... what controls the experience points system?
Are points deducted for bumping, cutting the chicanes and wrecking?
Are points awarded for following the "perfect" line, for finishing position?

Any ideas???

Far as I know it's just a static number for finishing in a certain position, never really paid much attention to it though.

Its something very simple.. but complex in its calculations.

Basically if you use an over powered car on a low lvl race, and take first.. what did you as a driver learn? not much.. heres a few exp..

But if you use an under powered car on an upper tier race and manage to gain 3-4 places and place second.. you actually may have learned alot.. and the amount of experience you get is substantially more.

As for the game calculations the higher level you are the less exp each tier will give you. I just like the sound of the first part.. makes it feel more zen like.

I didn't see any truth in this, I took both a 800hp sv lambo and a 600 gallardo around the lvl 14 lamb race. got 11xx xp each time. Driving the sv it was a 20 second or so run away, in the gallardo I won by only 3-5 seconds and recieved the same xp

This thread didn't really answer much. Here's my 'problem:'

I was playing some Lvl 21 races, winning them and getting, I believe, like 4-5k in experience points. I just did a Lvl 22 race, forgetting which and specific numbers. It was a 10-lap race, so athough I had a smilarly powered Amuse to run with these guys, decided to not cut it close and just have some fun. Ran a race car and lapped the field. I swear my Exp Pts were lower, like 2-3k.

Was I dinged for running too powerful a car, or was it an anomly in that this race just didn't have the XP associated with it or I mis-remembered things?

No. XP is a set amount for your position in the race.

Thanks Famine, was starting to feel even more guilty for blasting through a race with a way overpowered vehicle. Not I only have to feel a little guilty...
