Under the gt auto the "extensions" - do they actually function for more downforce or something? Or are they just for looks?

That made me angry for a minute or so (I spent 11 ours beforehand Golding it all) but hey, what's done is done.
I wouldn't mind the Grand Tour Alfa 8C challenge being easier to Gold though
