The Following events can be won for 200 A-Spec points with no AI contact and OLR clean, though most are pretty tough (under the fore mentioned conditions).

All Special Conditions (Normal)

Overtake on the right between the two arch’s before the tight twisty section midway around the circuit.

Umbria Rally Reverse - Suzuki GSX-R/4 vs Mitsubishi Starion Rally Car

MANY THANX shotamagee
👍
Not only did you provide "Ride / Set-Up" info but also advice where to make the Pass!!! OUTSTANDING! I used my own set-up but your Tranny for the Suzuki. Haven't driven these courses for years so started w/S3s on front & familiarized myself with the circuit. Got 180 each direction yesterday then switched to S1s today & Aced 'em both. [Although neither pass occurred where I expected they would.]

Ran the Clio "exactly" as mentioned accept for minor Final & Auto adjustments. After numerous resets gave up finding the Subaru & settled for a Mitsubishi TME. Had to add an additional 95kgs of weight but no matter. Smoked him in the forward direction & will try reverse tomorrow. The "AI" seems to "dawdle" a bit at the bottom of the steep downhill, so I swooped inside on Lap #1, even though I was 1+ seconds behind @ the top & went on for about a 3 second Win!

THANX Again...O.G.

@ Dotini:
Hope you've got your PS2 working, mine's about 10 years old [I added a "Flip Top" about 9 years ago] & every time I fire it up I "Keep my fingers crossed" that it'll work!

Thanks, Old Geezer. An unusual series of troubles with my TV and PS2 forced me to replace both over the holiday season. I'm glad to say that I'm now "back to work" in Gran Turismo mode.

Almost a year ago, after reaching levels 34/35 in GT5, I put my PS3 away. I did this because I was a getting a little burnt out on grinding, was a bit disappointed in certain aspects of GT5, my TV lacked more than one HDMI input so I had connectivity issues, and last but not least my kart racing season was starting earlier than usual with a January event at Laguna Seca.

After my 2011 karting season I found it expedient to resume GT4 until GT5 (and my TV situation) received some upgrades. Now, I'm extremely pleased with both my new TV and the many wonderful improvements made to GT5 over the last year. Bottom line is, I'm now back to playing GT5 for the next few months until my karting gets going again.

One observation I made during my last few days working with GT4 Special Conditions events was that the Mitsubishi CZ-3 Tarmac was highly capable of easy 200 pt wins with very minimal tuning. I suggest you give it a try.

Unfortunately, GT5 lacks a good selection of races for rally cars. But maybe that too will be addressed in time.

All the best,
Steve

KOOL! 👍
Smallhorses
lured me into a JGTC Series where they run "Real" Racing Tyres. Having so much fun that I probably will abandon my A-spec points quest for a while, just short of 75,000 points. Good Luck w/GT5 & THANX for all the help...O.G.

Extreme Hall: Formula GT Championship- Super Speedway

Car: '04 Polyphony Formula GT :dopey: with the following setup:

Suspension- 17.4/17.5, 45/45, 5/6, 6/6, 2.6/1.5, 0/-1, 6/6
Transmission- autoset 16 with 1.400 7th gear
Downforce- 45/63
LSD- 20/22/30
Ballast- 142 @ -5

This setup gives you 200 A-spec points. 👍 It may look hard at first running the FGT with these settings against the AI who are running full downforce and no ballast, but appearances are deceiving. You will probably lap the field at least once during the race. The only tips I can give are to brake to about 160-170 mph going into turn 3 and pit every 13-16 laps.

While doing some research in the Isuzu 117 for the 1000 miles race I came across the following lineup for the Polyphony Digital Cup.

Honda S2000 '01
Subaru Impreza Prodrive Style '01
Merc SL55 AMG '02
Toyota Supra SZ-R '97
Mazda RX-7 Spirit R '02
It's a lot faster combined lineup than anything else I've seen, though the AMG is a bit of a rabbit on the more open tracks.

I'm not up to this championship so I haven't done any follow up driving yet, but here's how I got to it.
1. Jump in Isuzu 117 Coupe.
2. Console reset
3. Go to the driving park
4. Go to Motorland
5. Enter and then exit the four options in this order. Race Meeting, Free Run, Photo Drive, Family Cup (AI @0) there are some name differences between PAL & NTSC here, so in numeral order they are 2,1,3,4. (though lineups differ between PAL & NTSA anyway so it might not even work for NTSC even if you do do this).
6. Jump in your desired car and go to the PDC.

I'll get to the PDC eventually, but that could take a while so there's no reason for me to just sit on the line up info until I get there.

I'm trying to win races for as many points as possible; Without any AI contact, No use of Nos or Qualifying and staying on the track and off the walls at all times.

These are the first four Extreme Events which I was able to win for 200 A-Spec points under the above-mentioned conditions.

Notes: After having to switch to the 787B for Le Sarthe where the GTR LM just wasn’t fast enough, I realized that the 787B on R2’s is still probably better than the GTR LM with a T3 Turbo & R3’s. So I used that for Nurb but I’d already done the earlier races with the GTR so I left them as is.
However I now refer to the Extreme hall as the 787B hall. It can get 200 points for over half the races here, so if you’re having trouble just remember this rhyme; If your opponent’s are LMP’s use the 787B.

Notes: I thought this car (in real life) was specifically built for top speed hence why I used it, so the fact that it couldn’t do this race stock was annoying and surprising. However after bolting on the stage 4 turbo and getting the gears pretty much right it was still fast enough to win the race against the first lineup, its just that there would be far better cars (ie LMP’s) than this one for this race.

I'm trying to win races for as many points as possible; Without any AI contact, No use of Nos or Qualifying and staying on the track and off the walls at all times.

These are the final three Extreme Events which I was able to win for 200 A-Spec points under the above-mentioned conditions.

Formula GT World Championship

I’m not going to restart these races if I make a mistake, so to stick with the spirit of OLR clean races for the FGT Championship, any wall / off road moment is punished with a self enforced stop go penalty, same with AI contact (no matter who is at fault).

LSD: 15 15 12
Strategy: Pit lap 14 for R3,R2’s then pit every 9/10 laps.
Best Lap:1:19.702
Notes: Only just win-able, I was having trouble cleanly passing the AI with the 787B, and the FGT is a nightmare through the fast chicane, so I switched to the Audi which gets slightly better tyre life then the Mazda. This meant I was now able to do the race with one less stop than the FGT’s (they have 9 lap stints PAL), so I just had to stay within 1 stop for the start R2,R1 stint until the AI pit on lap 9 then just match them the rest of the way, won by 4 seconds with two wall contacts.

Downforce: 59,85
LSD: 20 20 10
Strategy: Pit every 21/22 laps.
Best Lap:26.980 (non draft 27.380)
Notes: A breeze, the AI pit often and from memory our speed was about even, so my 4 lap MOV was mainly the difference in time spent on pit road. The Peugeot is a great choice due to its low weight meaning you can eke out extra laps from your tyres (compared to other LMP choices). Also the slow gearbox is not much of a hindrance here, as I only need to make 1 up shift per lap (5-6th coming onto the main straight). Completely OLR clean race.

LSD: 8 7 12
Strategy: Pit lap 14 for R3,R2’s then pit every 10 laps.
Best Lap:1:19.507
Notes: From memory the FGT’s go 10 laps between stops so you need to stay within 1 stop on the R2,R1’s then try to close up behind which ever car is in front of you just before its pit stop, you should be able to jump at least one car per stint this way, that and being slightly quicker on the R3,R2’s got me a 20 second win. Three wall + 1 AI contact.

Best Lap:54.671
Notes: Easy race due to the AI pitting so often, you should be slightly quicker than them once on the R3,R2’s as well, so I won by 1.5 laps. 2nd (and final) OLR clean race.

Downforce: 63,88
LSD: 15 30 20
Strategy: Pit lap 7 for R3,R2’s then pit every 8/9 laps.
Best Lap:1:20.006
Notes: Was loosing too much time with R1 tyres on the rear axle at the start, so I went a different route, pit lap 7 from pretty close behind 5th place car to get off strategy. This means that for this race you have to be quick on cold tyres, while the AI are on worn rubber. You should jump one car per stint to eventually get to first, and then just cruise to the finish, won by 32 seconds, 2 wall contacts. This track is rear tyre limited, which is when the Audi tends to be better than the 787B, its powerband is way wider so you can shortshift, saving the rear tyres without losing as much time.

LSD: 8 7 10
Strategy: Pit lap 25 for R3,R2’s then pit every 17/18 laps.
Best Lap:46.482
Notes: Got pretty perfect tyre life for this race, the front left was the least worn tyre and the front right was most worn, also the AI pit a bit more often then you and stop right at the end of the race, so my 33 second MOV ended being +1lap. 3 Wall + 1 AI contact.

LSD: 15 10 20
Strategy: Pit lap 13 for R3,R2’s then pit every 9 laps.
Best Lap:1:15.692
Notes: I always find this track tricky with LMP’s, having to put a little more understeer than I’d like into my setup, to help with stability in some of the undulating braking zones. Can’t remember any real specifics from this race, but I won by 33 seconds with five off road moments.

Best Lap:1:12.092
Notes: The AI love to occasionally spin off coming down the hill, which makes what might be a close race pretty easy, won by 1.5 laps just the two off road moments.

Parts -

Aids:001
Downforce: 63,88
LSD: 6 5 7
Strategy: Pit lap 12 for R3,R2’s then pit every 8/9 laps.
Best Lap:1:32.149
Notes: I Don’t like this race, the AI pit every 8 laps, so for once they have perfect strategy (ie 8x8 no remainder). I opted to do one less stop than them, so just have to stay in range while on R2,R1’s then hold the gap once on R3,R2’s. Would have won by more, but I had 8 off road moments so I only won by 8 seconds, a chassis refresh may have helped but I didn’t want to quit the championship to do that, and the 787B is front tyre limited (on R3,R2’s) as it is.

LSD: 25 35 15
Strategy: Pit lap 3 for R3,R2’s then pit every 3 laps.
Best Lap:5:46.615 (last lap)
Notes: I chose the Pescarolo as it gets slightly better tyre life than the Audi. The Audi is a little quicker, but getting 3 laps from the tyres is more important than outright speed. I drove this race very conservatively just clearing the AI once their 2 lap stint length puts them behind for good, then trying to avoid any off road moments (had two) which meant I was able to get familiar with the car/track combo and eventually try to set a quickish time on the last lap of the race, I won by just over 2 minutes.

Strategy: Pit lap 10 for R3,R2’s then pit every 7/8 laps.
Best Lap:1:24.036
Notes: Seven wall/off track moments + 1 AI contact is more than I would have liked for a race that’s pretty straight forward, still won by 46 seconds.

Best Lap:1:22.768
Notes: I was pretty over the championship by this stage, reflected in the seven off track moments for a race I won easily by 61 seconds. A Chassis refresh would likely have helped.

LSD: 24 24 25

Strategy: Pit lap 5 then pit every 6 laps.
Best Lap:1:39.023
Notes: All the LMP’s just lose to much time to the FGT’s through the first sector of this lap (even once on R3,R2’s) making the FGT the best choice for me, to do this race. The AI go 7 laps (from memory) between stops, so you have to make up 1 stop on track, with a slower car. I’m not the greatest at driving the FGT (hence why I prefer using the LMP’s for all the other races) but I eventually pulled this race off with a 14 second MOV, with just 3 off track moments and 1 AI contact.

Notes: This series, against this line up is easy, all the AI pit for pretty much every race, meaning I won every race bar the Nurburgring by at least 10 seconds. I could have used the 787B and won even more easily, but I’ve already used that a lot for the FGT Championship so the Toyota made a nice change.

Notes: I’ve already used the M3 GTR for the Pan Euro Championship, so I decided to try the CSL for this race. Overtaking the Speed 12, for 2nd on the first lap at the Lowes hairpin was key. Meant I had plenty of time to catch then pass the leading Zonda on the run down to Mirabeau on the second lap, I went on to win by 15 seconds.

LSD: 10 10 10
Notes: This car handles better on S2,S3’s rather than just straight S3’s, doing this also allows you to run a bit more power. It's a lot of fun throwing this car around this track, I got to first before the end of the 1st lap and the 5th place starting Zonda C12S 7.3 which is about as fast as my car was held up the entire race behind the 2nd placed Merc SL65 AMG, so I won by 12 seconds.

Aston Martin DB9 Coupe ‘03 Vs 7th Line up.
Parts -

Settings -
Aids:000
Notes: This race features the TVR Speed 12 starting on pole, but it gets overtaken by the Merc SLR off the start, and by the time it gets past, (coming over the line at the end of the first lap) you should have gotten into first and have about a 0.5 second lead which should increase on laps 2 & 3, before the Speed 12’s tyres start to warm up and it took over a second off me on the last lap, so I won by 0.96, made an easy race pretty fun. I used the Sport Exhaust purely as I think it sounds better, the race would still be doable without it. (Or use any exhaust you like, this line up still gets 200 points)

New York Reverse

Transmission: Auto1 Final3.200
Aids:000
Ballast: 1,50
Notes: I saved the Shelby for this race (it’s a toss up between this and the BMW M3’s for next best car after the NSX’s IMO) as New York races are always tough, and again you’ll be against the TVR Speed 12. You should both clear the other AI by the end of the first lap, and then overtake the speed 12 through the twisty stuff on lap 2. You then just have to avoid getting rear ended at turn 1 on lap 3 and it should be pretty simple the rest of the way, my MOV was 6.42 seconds.

Series Notes: As this was my final series and a pretty fun one, I decided to try to do all the races with different cars, showing that the there are alternatives to using the NSX Type R (statistically the best car). I tuned every car (except the Lotus) for the exhaust I though sounded best, and then tried to match the cars to the tracks.

This concludes my efforts for the Extreme Hall; I’ve managed to take 11735 of the possible 11800 points on offer.

I’ve also re done some of Special Conditions races. There we’re several races with a lot of easy points still on offer after my first run through, so I’ve edited the new information into my old posts, here & here. I’ll mention that here so I don’t have to quadruple post them below.

For the Tsukuba Wet Race (Hard), I had used the Pagani Zonda LM, with NOS, R3, turbo stage 3, and an oil change, with the Sauber C9 as my opponent. It's not easy, but it's not impossible. I won by 5 hundreths of a second after getting a penalty at the very end.

Right now, I'm at 21.1K A-Specs, with all of the missions completed and 200s on every Special Condition event, with no other events completed.

Sounds like you're off to a very good start!

details to follow

Here are some links to uploads of me re-doing these events. These clips include captures of the settings screen to show what was used.

Dirty driving isn't necessary for the Easy and Normal runs, but you can put a wall ride to good use at a few of the Capri turns if you fall behind or get a penalty. Umbria and George V took a bit of practice to get better at avoiding penalties. But once you get in front of the competition, you can usually do well enough to keep them behind. High Nitro settings and R3 tires were key to taking the lead on these levels. For the lower levels, go with S2 tires. You may need to run with 25kg Ballast against the Evos...

Enjoy, and Have A Great Drive!

Tsukuba Wet (Normal)
A-Spec: 200 pts
Opponent: Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren '03
My Car: Toyota MR2 GT-S '97 (287 hp, 1079 kg)
Average lap: 1'12

Parts:
Racing Exhaust
Racing Chip
Racing Brakes
Sports Suspension Kit (130-130, 3-3, 0.4-0.2)
F.C. Gearbox (Auto set to 9)
Triple-plate Clutch
Racing Flywheel
F.C. LSD (25-25-30)
Weight Reduction Level 3
Port & Polish
Engine Balancing

Great rally car, the engine is very lively. On Tsukuba Wet apply the handbrake on every but last corner and control bearing of the car with throttle. On the last corner brake sufficiently and clear the corner with power-drift. It requires advanced driving skills, but once you learn it, you will smoke competitors in no time. This setup can also bring 200 pts on Yosemite Rally II (Hard - both direction) against either Evolution or Impreza Rally Car (the '03 models).

It also brings 200 pts at Grand Canyon (Hard) against the Evolution Rally Car '03, but this seems to be impossible to win. How come it only brings 120 pts against the same car on Chamonix (Hard)? Unbelievable...

What car do i use for the World Circuit Tour events in the Expert Hall. I have tried the Toyota Minolta, and it has been a success on
Suzuka
Twin Ring Motegi
Tsukuba Circuit

And im struggling a tiny bit on the Infineon and the Nurburgring. Is it my driving or is it the car's handling and power. I bought Super-Hard tires and it worked, but do i need Hards? Or even Mediums?

How many A-Spec points are you getting in the races you've won?

Apologies for reviving an inactive thread, but I ran through several lineups for the Polyphony Digital Cup hoping to find a lineup that could be beaten for 200 points in every race in something other than the Dodge Ram or Honda Element and figured I'd share what I found. The Lotus Elise Type 72 is more than capable of getting 200 points in every race with some blocking and course cutting so that's what I'll be using. It's just about finding the right lineup obviously. If you are looking for a way to win 200 points cleanly, this won't be it. After resetting, I ran through roughly 150 lineups looking for an optimal lineup. Below are a couple of the interesting lineups that I found. This was done on the NTSC version.

Lineup #59
Honda S2000 '01
Mazda RX-7 GT-Limited (FC, J) '85
Toyota Supra SZ-R '97
Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 24V '98
Lotus Esprit V8 '02

#59 might be winnable in the Type 72, but the Esprit is a major problem. Would not be a clean series at all and you'd probably be running N2/N3 tires at best.

Lineup #119
Honda CR-X SiR '90
Peugeot 106 S16 '03
Mazda MX-5 Miata '89
Peugeot 206cc '01
Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 24V '98

#119 was probably the most evenly matched lineup I've seen. I wasn't in the right car to test this lineup so I have no clue how winnable it is. I really didn't want to run through that many lineups again so I reset and started testing previews of various races to see what kinds of lineups showed up.

Lineup #5
After resetting and previewing the race at Hong Kong in the Boxer Spirit (in a Legacy B4 Blitzen, not even sure if it matters), I came across another intriguing lineup. Lineup #5 after the reset and preview:

Lotus Esprit V8 '02
Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 24V '98
Mercedes SL 55 AMG (R230) '02
NISMO Fairlady Z S-tune concept by GT
Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A (FD) '02

The SL55 is relentless and the Esprit isn't an issue at all. The Alfa Romeo definitely brings down the A-spec points, but I decided to use this lineup anyway. I didn't have high hopes for the lineup, but was pleasantly surprised by the Type 72. I guess I'll give a quick summary of each race and the settings since I've come this far. I think it's worth noting that the Type 72 had around 40 miles when starting this and the oil had not been changed.

Settings
I decided on running S1/S3 tires, 200 ballast (front/rear balance at 0), and a Stage 1 Turbo, which shows 159bhp on the Settings menu and gets you 200 points. At 190 ballast, it gives 198 points. Assists were at 0 except for TCS which was set to 1. Didn't tweak the suspension enough to be notable. The transmission settings were at Final = 4.2 and Auto = 10 for every race except for Motorland where I shifted the Auto value to 3. For some reason I didn't do the transmission trick for tighter gearing, oh well. At first I tried using N2/N3 tires and more power, less ballast or a combo of the two, but eventually scrapped the idea. With N2/N3 tires, the cornering of the Elise Type 72 was slightly worse than the SL 55. I had to beat the SL 55 at something and cornering was my best bet.

Race #1 - Twin Ring Motegi
Qualified in 1st. I used every shortcut and had to do a fair amount of blocking on the SL 55. I used the nitrous mainly on the exits leading to the longer straights. The SL 55 did pass a few times on the straights but it was quickly followed by a retake during the next corner. It's not impossible to punt the SL55 into the sand, but it does absorb the hit well and doesn't go that far off of the track. The SL 55 doesn't normally try to overtake while cornering, but if you give it an opening it will go for it. Hard race.

Race #2 - Seattle
Qualified in 1st. This one was easier than Motegi. Just block the SL 55 down the straights. It's very passive in the corners and the Type 72 can squeeze by if the SL 55 manages to pass on one of the straights. You can save most of your nos with effective blocking and use it aggressively on the last 2 laps for an easy win.

Race #3 - Infineon
Qualified in 1st. The SL 55 is not good around this track. There isn't enough of a straight for it to threaten overtaking. As long as you stay on the track, it's an easy win. Wallride at the final hairpin saves a good chunk of time too. Might be the 2nd easiest race.

Race #4 - Tokyo
Did not qualify. I did some wallriding and aggressive overtaking to get to 1st as quickly as possible. It's imperative to be in 1st at the start of the straight towards the end of the track. It's more of the same really. Block the SL 55. Tokyo is one of the more uncomfortable races due to there being not many chances for retaking the lead if the SL 55 passes. Still a very winnable race.

Race #5 - Fuji 2005
Did not qualify. This was a scary race. Lots of opportunities for the SL 55 to overtake. Block the SL 55 for the hundredth time and use the nos sparingly in case you do get overtaken. There aren't many ways to cut the course or wallride so using those to build any sort of a lead is out of the question. If I did it again I would qualify to save some nos at the start. Might be the hardest race. That or I'm just not any good at Fuji.

Race #6 - Motorland

Did not qualify. This is as easy as it gets. Nothing threatens you at all. The Lotus and the SL 55 accidently entered pit lane and ended up getting lapped. The Fairlady Z came in 2nd and lost by almost 30 seconds.

Race #7 - La Sarthe

Did not qualify. Very tough race if you don't cut the course at all. I cut every corner and still had the SL 55 threatening to overtake during the high speed sections. As a result of not qualifying, I had to be heavy on the nos and cut the course at the start in order to get in 1st before the Mulsanne. I used most of my remaining nos for getting up to speed after cutting the course. It's close to the same difficulty as Fuji.

Race #8 - El Capitan
Did not qualify. I know the AI doesn't navigate El Cap very well, but the SL 55 was surprisingly competitive. Just had to block it down the main straight and avoid going off the track. One of the easiest races but not a freebie like Motorland.

Race #9 - Suzuka
Did not qualify. Another tough race. The SL 55 is very aggressive, but there are a few spots to retake the lead if you get passed. I cut the chicane at the end of the track, which helped avoid getting passed before the S curves.

Race #10 - Nurburgring
Did not qualify. A hard race but not the hardest. I used a lot of nos to get into 3rd around Aremberg and used even more to get into 1st after cutting the course following the uphill high speed section after Aremberg. I didn't touch the nos once I was in 1st on the 1st lap. It's desperately needed to attempt to retake the lead. If you aren't in 1st at the start of the very long uphill section (don't know the name, it's just before the carousel), I don't think it's winnable. From there, it's all about blocking the SL 55. The Esprit does join in on the main straight. There are a lot of opportunities for retaking the lead if you lose it towards the end of the straight. The 2nd lap is more of the same. Some nos can be used coming out of exits and on uphill sections.

I ended up racing Motegi and Seattle again and won both without qualifying, so every race is winnable without qualifying.

I know that this forum isn't very active anymore, but hopefully this post will help somebody in the future.
