Ok guys, i have most the games you guys are talking about
And for graphics, between Far Cry, and FEAR. It is really close.
But those are not the only games with brillant graphics.
Guild Wars has easly just as good graphics.
HL2, and DOOM3 both also have as good of graphics. There is a long line of these games... Quake4..etc.

Except they all have different placrs, brightnesses, etc.. So it is going to look different. Like FEAR, DOOM3, Q4, parts of HL2, and some bits of Far Cry have dark areas.
But Far Cry, Guild Wars, HL2 are alot brighter. And for the HL fans there is HDR, which is just frickin amazing!
O wait, this whole time, i forgot about one of the best graphics engines :DOH!: The Unreal Engine, and the new one, is hands down the best to what i have seen. Alot of games nowa days use the Unreal Engine. UT2007, would go under a darker catagory, but there are some brighter spots.

My 2 cents.

Looks like I be waiting a bit longer to play F.E.A.R again, I just suffered another random restart. And well, GSkill will be getting my ram back from me.

So they can fix the ram, since it failed all of its memory tests. The Unreal 3 engine looks nice, but the Crysis engine looks way more nicer.

You mean Crytek? :D And you never know how it's going to look like in action.
They look amazing, and breath taking. And i'm not going to put either one down.

Played a little more recently. Finally got to blow someones head off. Still not as gory as "Soldier of Fortune" but its still fun to kick a head around. When it rolled around blood splashed out. That was fun. I also stuck them to the wall using one of the guns that shoots out metal spikes.

Nice screens. I got bored with F.E.A.R, it's just so repetitive and once you look past the flashy slow mo effects it's actually a pretty boring game. Half Life 2 is way better :)

Yup thats pretty much my same opinion too. I just cant seem to stay interrested in this game. I play for a few minutes then just want to put Black and white 2 in or Far Cry. I still havent figured out the hype in this game. I was hoping it would get better but like you said it seems very repetitive. I will still keep playing but its not one of the games I enjoy like the rest.
Im extremely open minded so I keep playing hoping it will get better.

I think one of the main reasons i don't like it is that it's glitchy and doesn't run very well on my PC, but i think that's just the game. IMO Half-Life 2 looks better and i can run that with all settings on max no probs (lost coast as well with full HDR etc), but with F.E.A.R. i get awful frame rates.

The hype was probably about the "scare factor."

I bought the game on Saturday and so far so good. It's been pretty creepy. Especially when you flashback into that room and youre standing on the ceiling and theirs blood all above you and the far room you can see flames through the door and hear that little girl screaming and when you start walking towards it that body hanging from the ceiling starts flying at you. :scared:

That part gives me massive goose bumps every time I see it!!! I went back twice just so I coudl get the screenshots. I posted screenshots of that part a couple posts back. Yeah I agree thats extremely creepy stuff! The scare factor is decent but the rest is just ok.
I think thats the part I was talking about. This one right? So far this has been the most creepy part. Massive goosbumps!!

Yep, those are the parts. Funny you should post that last screenshot because I took one at the exacy same place last night.

BE CAREFUL IF YOU DL THIS PATCH!!!!
I am on the "LZ Is Hot" level and today I got a message that said "New updates are available" so I downloaded it. Now I cant get back into this level. I tried for an hour to get this level to load and it wont. I would have to start the game all over again. :ouch: Any suggestions?????????

oh no... are u serious? :( i havent played the game yet since i patched it :(
Yes I am serious. After I loaded the new patch I was not able to play any of my old saves. I ended up starting all over! :ouch:

they are going to be realeasing a patch to fix this within this week... at least thats what it says on the official forum

Well if any of you have been reading the last few posts you will know by now that the latest patch deletes your game save. So with that said I started all over and now I am back where I used to be. I am at the beginning of level called "LZ Is Hot". Now I can try and focus on beating this game.

u could have just used the fix mentioned on the official forums...
Nahh thats ok. Back when the problem happened no one knew how to fix it. Besides, it gave me a chance to play thru the game with 5.1 surround sound. Much more scary now!!:nervous: 👍 Still no where near as fun as Far Cry but Fear is still a good game. The slow motion makes it real fun. Without that I still say this game is extremly overrated.

I thought I would try this game since I now have a computer suitable to do so. I have an issue though - even with all settings at minimum, the game will not run above 15fps. After I tried computer max, graphics high, and it's minimum 14fps max 15fps.

Computer specs are 2GB of RAM, 2.2ghz Core 2 Duo, DDR3 8600M GS on Windows Vista... maybe a driver issue? It is updated to the latest before you ask.

Edit: My USB mouse was causing it. :odd: I guess I can't play the game properly unless there's a solution then...

F.E.A.R. is in a bit of a mess at the moment with Vivendi owning just the name and Monolith everything else. Both are in a legal dispute now and Vivendi's Perseus Mandate expansion is coming out soon, which is disappointingly not really related to the previous two games and has it's own storyline branch. I've played the demo for Perseus Mandate and it seemed pretty much a rehash of the past two, without it carrying on with the storyline from F.E.A.R. or Extraction Point I'm really not that interested despite it playing pretty well.

I came across the trailer for Monolith's next F.E.A.R. game last night and it is looking quite good and is called Project Origin due to legal issues above stopping Monolith calling it F.E.A.R. 2, which everyone knows it really is.
