I really enjoyed the race! At the beginning I thought that long practice was the qualification and Hog was just joking, but no. After a lot of cocktails the race started well but my tyres didn't like this track (or every track:grumpy:) so I had to go to the pit and that was the end. After that I spun on cold tyres. Crazy mistake.. but despite the problems I reached the 2nd place. Well done Mo, nice race on one set of tyres!👍 He can save his tyres, I can't.:irked: David was also pretty fast but I know he was tired.

Sorry about that I was hoping we would get a full grid so I decided to hold off for 30 mins just in case any one was late.

It was a really enjoyable race last night. I'm planning to make some pictures of the race, so I will comment more a bit later, but I want to say thanks for everybody who has joined the race! It was a really clear and close race!

Yes well done on the win mate really nice race by all.

For me the race was good and bad.
1st of all I used a car I was not used too, I really have to make my mind u on what car I am going to use and stick with it.
Then about 10 laps in my stupid temporary mount for my pedals collapsed, so while racing I had to wedge a few books under it and then wedge it against the back of my rig, Truth be told it was a bit more comfortable on my feet that way lol.
The about 22 laps in my G25's motors totally overheated and my FFB just dropped of, its not easy feeling much through the wheel one that happens, I hope to hook up some proper fans to the motors for the next race.
But it was not all bad a well timed pit stop onto hard tires so me claw back 3 positions which I then lost one position to gdavid.

But all in all a good race well done all and I hope we see you next week for Tokyo.

So that was a great event, I'm happy that there were 9 drivers on our first "friendly" race.
I thought I won't be able to finish this race without any pitstops, but I've managed to do it, and it was a luck because some of us planned no pitstops too. After gdavid had a mistake, there was Shark front of me, but as his tires damaged, I could overtake him. After this, there was not so much action for me during the race. I've decided to use this CLK during the hall season, because it is true that this car is much less powerfull comparing to the FTO or the Alfa, but it is so stabil and controlable. Congrat for everybody, that was a good race, and there were no problems, everybody raced clean 👍

Here are some more pictures from the race:

Good photo's man!

It was a big struggle keeping up with the pack in the Alfa.

Nice pics MO.
OK guys there has been a mandatory pit stop introduced into the Format.

Also I would like to remind every one to read the warm up lap rules and make sure they fully understand them.
The race does not start until the pole position driver crosses the start line, You must not accelerate before the start line, I saw form the video that everyone went after the end of the last corner.
Could we please keep it in mind for the next race on saturday as I will have to give penalty points to any one who accelerates before they cross the start line.

Thanks.

I'm not sure I understand that rule. That means the guys at the front of the pack get a 10-15 second head-start over the guys at the back? In real racing everybody goes green at the same time. So this is kind of like a double penalty if you don't qualify up front.

I think this will be the way of the start: The driver who managed to get the pole position have to wait until the start line to start pushing the gas, and the same time he start, the others can start too. The only thing what is not clear, from where the others will know when can they start if the first guy get across the start line but the last one is after him in the last corner.. they should need a green flag, or to hear from the host: "Start" or they won't be able to start in time. It will couse a big delay..

Figure this out Hog, we need a solution for this.
Thanks

Anyway this is ok for me, and sorry if I didn't know this on the first run and I've started to push in the last corner of the warmup lap. We used to start like this, but there is some kind of logic in your version too.

And about the forced pitstop: This is a good idea!

I'll use the CLK in this season mate

Think again, because this won't be good.

No guys this rule applies to the pole position driver not the rest of the pack.
As soon as the pole position driver crosses the start line the race start for everyone and they are free to accelerate.

The logic is the same in either way of doing it mate, It does not matter weather the race starts at the last corner or the start line.
I was at the back of the pack last race and could not see when you had accelerated.
To be honest there are loads of ways people at the back of the pack will know when the race has started all you have to do is watch the car in front of you, as soon as the driver in front of you accelerates you know you can accelerate, were all going round the track in a very tight bunch so you can see about 3 or 4 cars in front of you which will give you plenty of warning.
And on top of that you can use the track map, the track map at the side of you screen shows the positions of every one on the track so you can watch that.

Ok so just to be clear guys the race will start for everyone once the pole position driver crosses the finish line, you do not have to wait until you cross the line to go, is every one 100% clear on that just say if not and I will explain it further.

Also guys I will need the cars you will be using posted by Friday.

Thanks guys.

It is clear for me mate. I offer to make a short 2 lap race before the qualyfiing. There we could make a test-start, to be sure that it is clear for everybody. What do u think?

Yes mate that's a great idea I will fit it into the schedule for Saturday.
I have finally decided on the Astra as my final car I like that car a lot it suits me just right for my driving and its the 1st car I enjoyed driving on the Tokyo track which has always been one of my bad tracks since GT3 LOL.

Heads up guys you may have though MO and shark were fast on laguna seca there even quicker on Tokyo  lol.

Great! It is good that we'll have a few manufacturers on the grid, not just BMW and Mercedes:tup: I love the Astra too, but it is a bit understeered for me, but it is also true, that it is very stabil.

I'm looking forward for our race on Saturday!

If someone could share his laptimes ha can do during practice, it would be great. My CLK made around 1:39.

Oh Hog, how did you decide about the number of the laps? 30 laps will be enough? (R246 is 15sec/lap longer track comparing to Laguna Seca)

Well when we used the weight/power limits I found the Astra under steered quite a bit, but since we switched to the PP limit and I could shed some weight on the Astra I find its a really nice car to drive for a FR format car.
And yes I too hope to see a wide range on manufacturers on the track.

And I dont know mate I need some time to work on that.
I think I will take the track distance and jot it down.
The I will run a race until I wear through almost 2 sets of tyres.
Once I am lets say half to 3 quarters through the second set of tyres I will stop and note down the number of laps it has took to wear the tyres that far.
I will then multiply the track distance with the total number of laps and then that will give us our overall race distance.
Then as far as I can tell its a case of working out how meany laps we will get for each race from the overall race distance.

Does that make sense it still barely makes sense to me LOL.
I will think on it tonight.

In my point of view, it would be ideal to count the number of the laps from the distance. Let's get an example. If we have 150-160Km (~100Mi) distance on every race, it is possible to make it with 1 or 2 pitstops too. /tested with GT300 cars, not touring cars, but the laptimes are almost the same/ If you count the number of the laps from the 150 Km race distance and the track-length distance, we get the same long races every time. I was just thinking loud, it was just an idea..

I think it would be a good idea too but I am really bad with my math, For some one who builds as much stuff as I do I really should be a lot better at math than I am lol.
I did not get a chance to do the math on the distance today as I got side track improving my Sim Rig and Cleaning out my G25 internals and pedal pots as the last race I was getting some really erratic throttle response, At 1st I thought the pots in the pedals must be broken as I cleaned them out not long ago.
But on further inspection my pot on my throttle was loose and was sending mixed signals to the game all fixed now though, so my nest race should be a lot better.

Really good news mate, then the race will be closer 👍 I was wondering: "hey man, The-Hog was much faster, what happened?" now I understand.. lol

Looking forward to tomorrow's race guys. ;)

I should know which car I'll use by this afternoon.
Anyways apologies if it's already there but is race start at 8.30 or quali start at 8.30?

It is all OK Sasu, use the TT, this will be our first race for real, so it is ok with the rules too.

I'll use the TT-R. I'm not sure how fast I will be but tyre wear seems good on this track atleast.

Hi, welcome between us.👍
I think we've got a free place for you, but to be sure, wait the Host-s (thefast1) answer.
To our new members: please read the rules carefully before the race.

Hey,

I'll sign up, but haven't had a chance to look at cars or anything. If I'm online around that time I'll play. Just busy with college work and trying to make time for the last days GT Academy as well.

Great! There will be some practice so you can choose something. I'll use the FTO.

Hey Dessy.:D Haven't raced you in ages. I have an Audi A4 with the series tyres and a bad tune if you want it and it's under 1 million.
