F1 2007 Cockpit view. Virtual central mirror should be there..NT

You can map look-around buttons on the controller, that should help you see the mirrors.

Yes...Just checked and I can see the mirrors but a virtual mirror would be easier when approaching corners with a lot of cars around.
In real life, it is just a rapid glance without hardly moving your head but by the time you press the look button and then focus on the little mirror, you've just cut someone up or pushed them off the track. :-)

I use bumper view online but the cockpit forward view is very realistic in the Formula cars. Just need a virtual mirror like you have in Rfactor, GTR2 and LFS. Can't go back to those games though since I started with GT5. So much potential in this game.

Cheers

I started a virtual mirror in cockpit view petition on the feedback thingy. I totally agree with you, every other game at least has the option for it there.

A mirror in cockpit view?
Cockpit view is supposed to be realistic, so there should NOT be a centre mirror.

EDIT: Massive typo, forgot to include not.

^^^It's a Formula 1 car. *DERP*

And poe64 is right...even in real life, while wearing a HANS device and a full-face helmet, taking a quick peak off to the side of your car or in the mirrors is far less cumbersome than pressing a button in the game. And the head-tracking would be a good solution, except for the fact that it's even MORE cumbersome and basically non-functional.

Which is why there shouldn't be a central mirror.

...Don't understand that!

Main thing is to be able to see your opponents coming up behind you, so a virtual mirror will give you a better idea where they are on bends and corners.
The wing mirrors are unusable with a button...too slow.
Try using the button mirror view when going round the Parabolica (is that the right spelling) to see another car that might be coming up the inside. Really wierd.
It's the best compromise. Could be an option to turn on or off, whatever you like.

why should you be able to have a mirror when Raikkonen had to drive without one? If Raikkonen and Massa coped with side mirrors, you should be able to cope without one as well.

Yes...but they don't have to press a button to see theirs. It's a fraction of a second for them. If I could see the mirrors from cockpit view without the button, that would be great.

Raikkonen doesn't drive for Ferrari anymore.

But he drove the F2007. Alonso didn't join Ferrari till last season.

No. If it's not in the car, I don't want it there. I will be pissed if it's implemented. Why should other people suffer for your lack of ability to drive?

Pretty much this.

Cockpit view is cockpit view. That means you get to see what the driver who sits in the cockpit gets to see. No central mirror in real life, no central mirror in game, thats how it is and thats how it should stay. Granted you can't exactly look left and right to see the mirrors without pressing a button, but a central mirror is not necessary. If you want a central mirror just use the bumper cam view.

Or you could just look behind you.

Or you could just look behind you.

That's what I do in offline races with the AI but that last little glance before turning in a close race means you lose sight of the road completely.

Using bumper view online takes a lot away from the realism. That's a lot worse than using a little central mirror.
I hope they include an optional virtual mirror at some point. The folks here who don't want it, don't have to select it.

That's a bit bitchy.
I've had a few track days, driven Formula cars and spend quite a bit of time at the local Karting tracks, so I'm not that bad really. Not great either.

I hope you end up pissed off though. LoL

Then don't look behind before a corner.

If it's not in the car (which it isn't) then it shouldn't be there. The cars are supposed to be realistic...

I guess the HUD, lap counter, split times and lap timer all come stock on every car? Like those options you could add a toggle to add virtual mirrors. This is the biggest thing holding me back from using cockpit view. Often times you see one side mirror and part of the rear view. Annoyingly the rear view is often pointed incorrectly. Hard to race close online when you can't see your opponent. At best you just hold whatever line you are on and expect them to respect your choice. However, this means that should they get into a braking contest with you and have priority for the inside line, you can no longer take it.
