Any suggestions on button assignments with the addition of KERS and DRS?

I am just trying to set mine up now; will report on my success, or lack of :)

Still tweaking the steering; FFB is similat to 2010-weak (so far)

I hope you don't mind me adding to your thread, but does anyone know if there's a way to change the degrees of rotation for the wheel? It seems locked at 200 degrees for my DFGT. Taking a hairpin corner by only turning the wheel (basically) 90 degrees doesn't feel right to me.

And it also seems like the maximum turning angle of your tires is governed by your speed, so if I go into a hairpin at 40mph and turn the wheel the whole way, I make a big circle into the wall. If I go in at 20mph and turn the whole way, then I make the turn. That doesn't make sense to me because then you can't really understeer into the corner, and you're also not sure how far your tires will turn because it's a function of your speed. (Which I thought was removed by setting the steering linearity near 0, and I have mine at 10%).

P.S. I just looked at a pic of the G25 and there's hardly any buttons on it! That must be difficult trying to use kers/drs with a wheel like that. I'm having enough trouble getting my thumb to tap the drs but hold down the kers and then hit the paddle shifter while holding kers, all with my right hand.

KERS on the left, DRS on the right. I have a G27 so I can have rearview and stuff as well but with only two buttons that's your best option.

My clutch pedal is my kers (my foot won't be on brake so clutch seemed appropriate; my DRS is right steering wheel button; rearview left steering wheel button.

I don't know what happened to pit in request and tyre/engine mapping controls; exploring some more.

DFGT-there is a new thread about set up for that wheel.

This. I use a G27 also, but if you watch in cockpit mode the driver engages KERS on the left and DRS on the right, like Drum mentioned. I would set it up that way. It also makes sense because you have to hold down the KERS to keep it activated, and generally you will need your right hand to be shifting to higher gears during that period.

Anybody have good G25 steering settings yet? Please share along with your force feedback settings.

No I don't have the game.

I have read however that linearity needs changing.

Someone said %25. Another said %85.

Try that matey.

It doesn't help finding advice when it is not clear whether the thread comment is about PC, or PS3 wheel setup :grumpy:

As noted in another thread, I will just test each setting by themselves to try and figure out the effect and intensity of effect.

I suppose it is a function of various driver abilities.

Wheel set up with no assists is likely different than wheel setup for brake assist/traction control/ABS, etc.

The only assist I ever use is racing line sometimes, in heavy rain or on an unfamiliar track; which should not affect wheel set up, but maybe framerate :)

I'll post my settings this evening, I am at work right now :)

Testing in a race at Spa, my G25 settings are now:

In Advanced Wheel Settings

Steering Deadzone: 0%
Steering Saturation: 10%
Steering Linearity: 10%
Throttle Deadzone: 0%
Throttle Saturation: 0%
Brake Deadzone: 0%
Brake Saturation: 0%

In Force Feedback Options

Feedback On
Environmental Effects 60%
Feedback Strength 90%
Wheel Weight 90%

I may tweak them further.......more testing :)

My settings are almost exactly the same as what you posted above. I think I just have steering saturation at 0% also, which I think is where it's supposed to be. My understanding of the settings is that "Deadzone" is the range around an item's default/off state where it remains off, and "Saturation" is the range around an item's maximum state where it registers as max. So in both cases it's decreasing how precise you can be with input, and I think the only time you'd change them from 0% is if you want a deadzone or if your pedal can't actually reach its maximum state for some reason.

Can I ask how many degrees of rotation you have on your G25? Is it also 200? (i.e. just a little over 90 degrees in each direction.)

Honestly the default settings are the best. All deadzone and saturation settings should be 0 (unless you really want a deadzone in steering), and then I kept linearity at 10% because it makes the steering around the center a little less sensitive so you can make more precise adjustments.

The thing I'd really like to change is the degrees of rotation, which seems to be stuck at 200 degrees. (You should notice when turning that the wheel turns normally in either direction to about 100 degrees and then it feels like you're hitting a force-feedback increase. I'm 99% sure that any steering past this amount isn't registered any differently from when it's turned 100 degrees.) Anyone that watches F1 will have seen a driver turning the wheel almost 180 degrees for a hairpin corner.... but in the game you can only turn it 100 degrees.
👍

That is exactly what I have experienced, I try not to reference my steering input to that of the cars wheel, as it is not matched as you point out (degrees of wheel rotation). I think we may be stuck with it; is rotation adjustable with the new (more expensive) Thrustmaster, or Fanatec wheels?

Hiiting that force feeback increase also feels like the edge of grip/downforce somewhat (only after I have run an hour of actual running on a circuit :))

Cheers :)

I emailed their customer service and they confirmed that the DFGT (and I assume most wheels) are locked at 200 degrees. I pointed out that real F1 cars have a larger range of motion, and that they should be able to patch it so the wheel uses 360 degrees (or even its full range of motion) and then the user could change the steering saturation to set how much of that range they want to use. But of course that whole part of my email wasn't acknowledged at all.

Right, well they did only release a single patch last year, unfortunately. :ouch:

I don't remember it being as evident, or an issue, with 2010 game?

Managed a relative incident free 20% race online last night; happy with settings, for now :)

I don't know why, but I've left all my G25 settings on default and it feels fine.

Sucks some of you are having troubles getting to grips with the steering.
