F1 car purchase unlock - anybody else notice this?

To car swap with mk's is complex, I'm afraid. You can't drag'n'drop... You have to export the cars to ini files, then import in the order you want... For a 200 car garage this is about 2-3 hours... :eek: (edit: it has to be said, this is only if you want to keep the cars YOU win. You can just hit F6 to change whatever car is there for a completely new whatever else - as in my hyb guide. A lot easier, but kinda sucks away the whole "That's MY Pitz" atmosphere).

All hidden cars are available on NTSC - you can't get the P001 & P002 bodies though, which are slightly different to the F094/S and F688/S bodies, albeit the same car beneath.

Not especially encouraging, yet not particularly dis-couraging either. Eh, overall pretty much what I expected, having already tried to run Windows software on a G4 with admittedly shaky conclusions.

I'm assuming the .ini export process is simple enough. Wait and see... I do wanna keep my Pitz-es, sure enough. Compare 2-3 hours for export/import, versus the fact that I would have finished the game a month ago if I'd just played through... You know how it is.

If it all just goes doo-lally on me, I suppose I can always suck up to my folks to let me profit from a couple hours on their P4.

Yeah, I'm happy all hidden cars are available in NTSC... So, right now, I'm looking pretty peachy, thank you very much. Wait a week, once I've spent three consecutive nights trying to get the blasted thing to run proper, and I'll tell you all just how rank and squishy my peach has gone.
 
i am 77% through my perfect garage. its becoming a pain in the ass though. spending those long hours til 2 in the morning. very very tedious. my greatest accomplishment was my complete collection of ZZII's. god i love that car. im currently in hte middle of trying to get all the colours of the LM cars. my favs by far are my black FTO LM and black RX-7 LM. Ive got a Silver Altezza and a red and black s2000. but i dont love them as much.:p

Bear in mind on my recently-started game, I bought a Yaris 1.5RS, in a non-buyable colour, off my second memory card to start with.

So Xports don't work that well with Macs? It must be crappy being a "minority" with computers.
 
i just got my S license yesterday, havent had a chance to get my friends memory card to buy the SS trueno. as soon as i get the chance ill see if thats wut i needed to buy one.
 
pRaHjeC, do keep me posted, yeah? Well, I'm sure you will. Congrats on your S License, by the way. Nobody ever congratulated me for mine. Mind you, maybe that's because I told them it took me a grand total of about 90 minutes to achieve, compared to my IB which was a solid seven hours of work.

I get performance, reliability, and style you'll never come close to, wthout bending over for Silicon Valley's Most Nauseating. Remember, Bill "Satan" Gates stole everything from Apple back when, and made a fortune by ruining it. It's fairly obvious by now that what people - as a collective - want, and what's most worthy of attention are often diametrically opposed. I'll buck the trend if my returns justify.

By the way, I used to be Pro-PC, anti-Mac. That all changed when I got the chance to actually work with one. Hey, Mac has never given me the urge to randomly run around the neighbourhood with a lawnmower, chasing people down and frothing at the mouth, as used to be a daily occurrence with my old PC. You do the math. I go back to PC now, and within two minutes, I'm livid again. There's nothing like a machine that crashes doing nothing, then crashes again on startup. Brilliant!
 
You can buy any car through trading, regardless if it is buyable from the dealer. It is 4 times the re-sale value. I've done this with my first F1 car so that I could get a fresh one with low mileage. You don't need 80% complete. (I'm only at 59%) You don't need an S license either. (I don't have an S license yet) You just need 2 memory cards.

Dude I am 100% a mac user AND an x-port user. With Virtual PC it works like a charm, no worries. In fact windoze runs better through an emulator like VPC on a Mac than it does on a native intel whatever box...
 
Don't you all just think that Linux works best out of everything?

Actually X-port is the solution.
After I reached 100% without any kind of cheating, I just edited my garage to put there one example of each car in the game, sorted by brand and model (but no extra parts, there's more fun when they are just 'stock'.)
About once a week I edit the garage again to change colors.
That's stupid but I like it.

Hmmm, this yellow Cobra starts to get on my nerves, let's paint it gray with red stripes...:cool:
Oh, no, blue with white stripes is finally my favourite...:)

How? You mean use one card but when you load the garage you trade from, just load it from the same card? Do you have to move the memory card to the other slot or can it be done from one slot? I'll have to try this tonight...

EDIT: I found a post on the "Endurance makes me so mad!" thread that says this. Still will have to try this tonight :)

Yep I was referring to yours, Famine. And I have removed and inserted memory cards while the PS2 is on, is there a risk of corrupting them? I don't pull them out during saving/loading of course...
 
There is a risk of corrupting your cards, but more importantly there's a risk of blowing your PS2.

You are usually advised (even with a PC - not counting USB devices) not to insert/remove any peripheral device or lead from any item of electronics whilst the power is on.
 
Do you mean with the PS2 ON or while the memory card is being accessed? Because if it isn't in use.. you can plug or unplug at your discretion with no fear of damage..
 
I personally wouldn't plug so much as a controller into the PS2 while it is on.

The controller gets its power supply through the port it's plugged into.
Anytime you plug it or unplug it while the PS2 is "on" there's a risk to cause a powersurge or a short circuit and blow some component.
I already blew a PC's motherboard like this, by unplugging some device out of a serial port while the machine was running.

I don't think the mem card requires much power supply, so the only risk is I suppose to lose data if they get corrupted.
But anyway I wouldn't try this either. I'd rather be careful and save the 259 € a new PS2 would cost for buying games and accessories (let's say, GT4:P, GT4, Logitech wheel...) ;)
