Nice pics. Captured the events pretty well. I especially like the second and second last band pic. Shows them in "action"

But Im not too sure about the cross processed look combined with the photo-journalistic nature of these pics

I'm kinda fond of the lo-fi look it gives though. :P

Saw Sigur Ros on Thursday... Didn't bring my cam as I wanted to enjoy the show, but took some photos on my iPhone anway:

You guys would like some proper shots now, right? You're in luck. All of these shot on the same day around Central London.

The night time market shots are brilliant. Actually the ipone shots are pretty impressive for a camera phone as well.

Lovely shots - you even make the National Theatre look good, and that's some achievement! Seeing this pics takes me back to my previous life in London. I used to love wandering along the Thames to the South Bank, Borough Market etc. If you ever make it out to the East End, I'd love to see what you could make of that - bit rough around the edges, but plenty of photo ops. Actually, I'm going to be in London next Friday, so hopefully on Saturday I'll get a chance to visit some of the old haunts!

Great gallery, very impressive stuff throughout 👍

How did you get those shots in Starbucks? They refuse to let me take photos in there, grumpy sods...

You have a real talent for street photography, I wish I could go out and take some street photos but I don't have the balls to do it as there are a lot of idiots round here who would either ruin the shots or steal the camera! I'd love to go into Birmingham and do some too, the rag market would be awesome for it, but there's a photography ban in and around the Bullring. :(

I'll still be going for the German market though, I think you'd love that for photo ops;

Thanks TM, yeah, so much stuff going on means that I'm kinda apprehensive about going to a Uni out of it...

As for the East End, well I live in Walthamstow, but it's such a boring place and it seems like Iraq at times for doing street. :scared:

Cheers, the best advice I could give you is try it... It isn't actually that hard, especially if they think you're just a snap-happy tourist. :P As for the Starbucks shots I just walked in, shot maybe one or two from the hip and the rest normally. Guess I was lucky.

Now that I have a DSLR again, back to the usual programme:

Straight out of camera (save the B&w conversion):

I haven't posted here yet.. First of all, your previous shots were awesome, you're really talented and secondly, it's good to hear you've your camera back.. I'll visit this nice place more often ;) 👍

I absolutely love the skin-tones and colours I get from the Fuji... The noise is also much better behaved than my old D80...

Nice stuff F1. The skin tones do seem to come out quite well with the Fuji. How are you finding the camera in general? Any likes/dislikes?

Thanks! Here are my impressions on the Fuji:

+ Amazing build quality and ergonomics (well it is basically a D200), it's also very snappy and responsive in terms of general operation.
+ Produces amazingly good jpegs out of the camera
+ The huge dynamic range is very useful outdoors
+ The shutter release is so much nicer than my D80 - it's hard to explain, but my D80 felt like a click, as opposed to a nice squeeze on my S5, so it feels a lot like my Nikon F3 in that respect.
+ The tones that come out of this thing are very nice, as is the lower amount of noise.

- Menu isn't as intuitive as Nikon's - for example the image review, which just feels clunky - on the Nikon you have two buttons dedicated for zooming into/out of the photo, the d-pad is dedicated to panning and the command dial is used to switch between photos. On the Fuji, pressing up/down on the pad controls zooming - to pan you need to press another button to switch the d-pad to panning mode. You also can't use the command dial to switch photos, you have to use the d-pad, but only if you're at 0x zoom. Luckily I don't really use image review that often, but it isn't terrible, just nowhere near as well thought out as Nikon's menu system.
- RAW files are huge (25mb!), and Adobe hasn't made any proper profiles for Fuji's RAF format, so if I want to apply Fuji's film simulation modes I have to use Fuji's super-slow software.
- As a drawback to the huge dynamic range (which you can adjust from 100% to 400%), the FPS takes a hit. This doesn't bother me though as even when I shoot sports or any action I tend to wait and get the timing just right.

Overall the drawbacks are a bit of a non-issue for me due to my shooting style, so it's a great camera. When I got mine they were also quite good value, £400 for a semi-pro body isn't bad at all. Now due to demand they've shot up to around £600-700, since Fuji discontinued them (and there are no signs of a replacement).

I don't really here about anything other than Canon & Nikon as the market is over saturated by them, so it's nice to hear some feedback on the Fuji. 👍

Fantastic work, F1GTR. I know I haven't commented on many of your photos, but I've certainly enjoyed looking through them, even back in the good ol' days at Accel.

Heh. Talk about a blast from the past.

Nice! I really dig the multiple exposures shot, the little boys head looks really good. The last one on the beach is great too, the lighting is really nice.

Somehow I missed the previous update. :guilty:

I really dig the shots. I really appreciate your street photography. I don’t really have a knack for it, you however do.

Blah. Been feeling like crap lately, tried to get some shooting done to take my mind off of things, not bloody working. Anyway, here are the photos I managed to make:

7 & 8 are great as stand alone photos but I feel like the others need to be in a group/set to work well. Actually looking at the shots again #2 works well on it's own as well. 👍

Just one this time. Wish I had a D3 though, timing shots perfectly is hard work.
