F2007 - a little disappointed

I finally managed to afford the F2007 (having only realized 2 weeks ago that it was even there). But I'm a little disappointed about the graphics. I can't compare it to Prologue (only played it occasionally) but I really don't like that I can't see the mirrors in cockpit view. And that no matter what tyres I put on, it always shows the intermediates. Too picky ?

Yes. Too picky. In 2007, F1 cars ran the Bridgestone grooved compounds. That's why they appear intermediate. All tyres were grooved. As for the mirrors, you can see them if you look to the left and the right. The point of view is realistic. In real life, you'd have to turn your head.

My only disappointment with the F10/2007 is the unrealistic gearing, and the fact that even the adjustable transmission doesn't make it close to realistic. It was fine in Prologue, and with the Vettel X2010 so I can't understand why they got made it so bad :irked:

As for the mirrors, you can assign some buttons to look left/right ;)

The mirrors are in the positions they were on the real car. It's not like PD decided on a whim to put them out of sight.

My main problem with both Ferrari F1 cars is the generic tyre squealing sound they kept on them. When have you ever heard an F1 car cornering with tyre squealing as if it's a 250hp FWD car understeering?

That's why it's fun to race with the playstation eye in an F2007.

Guess my confusion came from playing F1 2011 and the F150 then seems to have the mirrors further forward. I didn't think about the placement between the models, rather thought that GT5 is missing a " extra wide" cockpit view that at least shows part of the mirrors.

This eyetoy thing, i tried to get it to work and couldnt, is there someone who could link me to a thread on it? Pretty please 👍👍👍

I can imagine so, but I don't have one.

The f2007 is a little old now. The FIA declared the outboard mirrors illegal in 2010. It's a fun car to have though. My favourite thing to do in GT5 is to take a car like the F2007 to various tracks in time trial mode. Really try to push the limit and improve your time. I once did around 100 laps of suzuka in one session.

My dissapointment with the F10 is that it sucks, and my dissapointment with the F2007 is that it's too easy to drive.

"Finally manged" LOL try doing this when the game FIRST came out!

Yeah, becoming a dad at the same time as a video game is released shifts your priorities slightly...

The F2007 is quicker than the F10. Its just easier to drive in my opinion, i think its the aero which is supreme to the F10. The interiors on both F1s might i add are rubbish. There are no attemps at modeling the cockpit floor and walls. Also the steering at low speeds(10 to 40) is floaty on the nose its very werid. Try it out

One can live it around Monza, Spa, the new Nurb, Indy Road, Monaco, etc, and not develop so intimate a relationship with gravel traps as at Suzuka.

Those gravel traps probably made him a better man. Anyways I tend to agree more with your view on it.

Are you kidding? The F10 is great fun, I'm curious as to what you think is wrong with it?

The way the wheel vibrates

They fixed the wheel problem from the F10 a few updates ago.

I have a real love-hate relationship with Suzuka. Love everything from the exit of Spoon to the entry of Degner I, hate everything else; love it in cars of Super GT class and below, hate it in formula cars or the RB. If it had overruns instead of traps I'd feel rather different about it.

I agree but would it shape our race craft the way it currently does? I mean I'm horrid at Fuji and I think it has to do with the vast amount of run off roads and pavement.

Not true. I drove mine on Trial Mountain yesterday and the wheel wobbled so much it was ridiculous.

Why on earth would you choose it over the f10? as well as being more expensive

It won the world championship for Ferrari and Kimi. The F10 won neither world championship. In addition to its success, the F2007 represents, more or less, the peak of the aerodynamic devices (chimney, turning vein, wing) seen on an F1 car, which I enjoy in terms of aesthetics.
