I've been reading all these posts about how easy the F1 seasonal events were and honestly I was baffled. I tried all the tracks with the F2007 and I could win only in Indy and I was only losing pace with the leader in all other tracks.

I got the F2007 through a trade and I restored all settings to default and raced with racing softs. I found the F2007 to be very understeery and sluggish and I had to take weird lines to compensate for the understeer. Today, I just tried Suzuka with a brand new F10 with racing hards and bam! I won the race comfortably in my 3rd try. (Crashed in the first corner in the 1st and 2nd tries.) Also, I was making zero contact passes and I was in first place by lap 2. F10 was way more responsive and easier to drive.

Now this totally contradicts what people have been saying that the F1 races are easier with F2007 and harder with the F10. The only prob with the F10 was that the DFGT rattled at high speeds.

So, is this how the F2007 and F10 are supposed to behave ? F2007 understeers and the F10 rattles the steering wheel at high speeds?

P.S: Settings: Abs-1, everything else off, MT. Tires: Racing softs for F2007 and racing hards for F10.

You should try using some driving aids if you're having problems with the F2007. Traction Control at 5, and Active Stability will make a big difference. The understeer might be caused by losing traction.

I tried using the F10 once with my G27. After about 45 seconds I quit the race and haven't used it since. It rattled so bad, I figured something must be wrong, and it can't be good for the motor in the wheel. I'm not sure what caused it. I've heard of people having similar problems with the x2010s, but they are fine for me.

No, the F2007 is good. No understeer, it has lots of grip!

F10 doesn't have as much grip and tends to slide out a bit more. It's still good though.

once again, this is total opinion

its the driver and the settings they are comfortable with

the F10 DOES shake my DFGT a LOT though - I am just now realizing that this is probably bad for the motor :( *sigh*

The "rattling" while driving the F10 is the car bottoming at speed guys... Starts in around 150-160ish ya? Bottoming would explain this, my wheel does it also(and 4 of my buddies) so i doubt it's your wheel failing.......

Thanks for the replies! I managed to win Tokyo and Nurb as well with the F10 and very comfortably.

With the F2007, well, it's just hard to win. My oil changed, racing soft equipped F2007 has less PP than the bone stock F10 (no oil change, racing hards). F2007 should have more PP than F10 right ? Maybe I should do engine and chassis overhaul for my F2007. Or, maybe, I actually prefer oversteer. That would be strange because I tuned my FGT to an understeery setup and I thought I like a bit of understeer.

Oh, and I prefer driving without aids, with manual transmission and in cockpit view usually with 'narrower' setting, which I believe is more fun than driving with aids or with AT.

I've also noticed it happens in the same spot each lap on the track so I think it's supposed to be there. That doesn't make it any better for our wheels but I don't think anything is wrong.

Pretty sure it might be the wheel. My G25 doesn't rattle of any sort with either of them but the F10 is faster. It has more horsepower and handles better.

It's definitely the mechanical portion of the wheel - they must have different motors in them

G25 has less free play in the gears than a DFGT (or DFpro, same mechanicals as DFGT). I have a G25 and a DFpro- and have taken the DFpro apart before. Maybe that rattle is high speed oscillation that ends up just banging the gear teeth back and forth.

Anyway, on the X2010 with G25 I set FF level to 1 and have power steering setting on.. that makes FF much better and doesn't seem like it's going to wreck your wheel. The FF is jacked up to strong on that car. EDIT: and other Formula type cars. *the G25 is much more powerful than the DFGT so maybe you won't have to go all the way down to setting 1 either.

F10 rattles big time on my G27 up around 260km/h. glad to hear i'm not the only one!

try taking off some wing, if you get it right it will just go a bit light at that curve at Suzuka.. I think the first place I got it was after 200R on the way to spoon curve..

let the wing off and firm up the suspension a bit... see how it goes..

at first I thought like a few by the looks of it.. what's happening.. then I noticed I had no steering when it happened!!

I tried to dial it out with the suspension but no joy!

finally let off some wing then reset the suspension.. Joy and you go faster :)

I have a G25 and have almost completed GT5 100%, I have found that the rattling of the wheel gets worse the more powerful/faster the car. I Golded the vettel challenge by pulling the power from the feedback. This also helps with endurance races to stop your arms tiring! With regards to the Ferrari F1 cars they are both awesome and easy to drive, perhaps not as good as FGT for some reason!

Well it doesn't sound like you're having fun... hence the complaints. For the F2007 I use AT, TCS-3, ABS-3, SRF-ON, all else OFF. I have tried several tracks with both cars, and the F2007 always runs about a second faster than the F10. Probably because it sticks to the track like glue. I think the F2007 is the fastest car in the game aside from the X2010.

Asking if the F2007 understeers is not complaining. Going by how everyone vouches for the F2007's handling, I think my F2007 might have some tinkered settings that I've not reset. An hey, if you're using SRF and AT, I'm sure you're missing out on some of the fun GT5 offers.

Aah! I've discovered why my F2007 understeers. I had rigidity improvement installed.

I have no idea why the guy who traded me the F2007 wanted to put rigidity improvement on the F2007. Now, I have to go looking for another F2007 to understand the real handling of this car.

For me, I have had good luck with both cars. I originally did all five events with the F2007 and won. Some events took several tries as I was adjusting to the car. After I got the F10, I went through and did the events again. And after some adjusting, I was winning all of them. Now I noticed that my F10 understeers slightly, but when I got it in a trade, I wasn't told about the rigidity improvement that was done.

when a car understeers you can do these things: decrease rear downforce, decrease rear camber/increase front camber, stiffen rear suspension relative to front, raise rear suspension relative to front

I agree the rattling is when the force feedback is overwhelming your wheel. I turn my ffb settings down when I use my G25 to drive the X2010 Challenge.

The f2007 does not understeer, its because your trying to drive it like an x1

Lots of "rattle" on the Momo Wheel also...!

I gave up on F'10 on Suzuka and Nurburgring because of the rattle (I'm using a G25 with FFB at 1). With F2007, I still feel a faint rattle at the same spots, but it doesn't prevent me from keeping it on track.

On Suzuka, it rattles when approaching the spoon. On Nurburgring, it is when approaching Schumacher-S.

I finally borrowed an F2007 to do the seasonals. I left force-feedback at 5 on my G25 through all the races with power steering setting off. With the X-1 I had to set FF to 1 with power steering setting on, but with the F2007 it was fine at 5 with power steering setting off.

I noticed a tiny bit of shaking on one spot on that course maker track when the downforce was maxed out, but it was really nothing. I guess I'm not seeing this "shaking" problem with the F2007. Guess I'll have to wait till I get the F2010 (probably never) to see it.

My G27 with the F10 rattles unlike any other car between ~175-190 mph. This is 100% brand new F10, no mods, racing softs, no assists, feedback at 5. If you focus on the screen (which is challenging since your body is shaking like you are operating a concrete drill) you see the car is also shaking and the high speed cornering feels like you are rolling on marbles. At ~200 mph it disappears and the traction is back. I did all the events like that, I just figured since it is such an isolated case it must be a trait of the real car, plus it presented a challenge.

Have you tried changing the downforce settings some? Increase front downforce or decreasing rear? I don't think that having a chassis reinforcement would increase understeer.

Also, are you carrying enough speed into corners? A lot of the grip is dependent on downforce, which requires speed. It gets more touchy at lower speeds.

You're right. I discovered later that the aero was set to minimum on both front and rear. I can't believe I won at Indy with minimum downforce! I reset the downforce to default and then all the tracks became easy. I've now won all the races with both F10 and F2007. Tomorrow I'll probably repeat the events for one last time with both F2007 and F10.

Good thing I bought my F2007. No chassis reinforcement on mine. Amazing handling, much better than the FGT and it corners better than the FGT and is far less deadly than the FGT. Now I've got to get me an F10... everyone in the Ferrari race has an F2007 so that's not very interesting.

If you are having trouble with UnderSteering with the F2007 you need to start with the LSD (Not the drug) If you reduce the Accel setting from 35 to 25 or less you will reduce the understeering.

Yes I noticed this too but it is very easy to tune it out with the LSD. If you want to try some tuning try this.

LSD
Intial 7
Acell 25
Decel 10

Aero at 135/180
Brakes at 9/8

Turn off all aids except ABS1.
They car handles pretty good that way but the AI will be on your A$$ if you mess up even a little

Probably you know that, but if you try to race with the F10, all your opponents will be driving one, not the F2007.
