Hence me removing them before your post which is something that maybe a moderator should of done - secondly I did not know this was a site that did not "tolerate cheats of any kind"

I accept that my words were perhaps a little too strong. I guess the reason for the backlash is that PD had actually made an effort to put a stop to this very method of cheating. In the early JPN version, those who used this cheat to gain top times on the database caused no end of frustration to those who wished to drive cleanly in an equal competitive environment. I guess PD still has work to do.

meh... cheating is bad and I don't approve of it online. If I'm racing and someone overtakes me by cutting the course, I'd be royally pissed. But on licence tests and within the confines of your own private game, it's your choice.

If you can't register displeasure without resorting to childishly putting insults in a foreign language so that the mods won't realise, then don't post, it's strange how no-one else needed to start shooting their mouth off making insults, yet still made their point. Those that shout loudest have very little to say.
But hey, there you go, we've both made points, people will choose who they agree with, there are numerous threads that I completely disagree with, but I don't see the need to insult those who have a different opinion.
It's also frowned upon to take a mods private message into the public arena by the way.

@Roper7: the site tolerates cheats; it actually tolerates just about anyone... it's just that WRS'ers are quite passionate about driving well.

and to confirm again I do take online play seriously, no quiting, ramming, always fairplay, I play other games like COD4 with respected clans,
again Online affects us all, my gold just affects me.

May I just say Mr P has provided a very good link to his own videos which show how to do many of the courses properly, maybe the mods here could provide a sticky thread for these and other videos which will make it easier to search for the solutions.

Just like with any game be it COD4 or GT5, its the cheats that make them totally not funny to play and showing off that you can do so says to me that you might as well put the game in the bin. Why by it, how many of you out there have even seen a real race driver cut corners and say hey look what i can do, its not what racing is about. Iv had plenty of online races where people just ram me all the time and even spin me just so they can win. I f i had to do such a dirty trick to win then i wouldn't race anymore.

wh is a proof that, people will do whatever it takes to win as long as the rules/or lack of let them.

i always try to be positive. i see this in a good way. if a driving style like this one (the one discussed earlier, not zanardi) gets more and more exposed, it will make it easier for PD to clean this.

i remember a guy that created a fake psn account called "DISHONESTTIMES". the guy was a good driver, so he started making top times in the time trial events. of course this is a way of ridicularize PD. the outcome to me, is very clear, they will have to do something to change.

so, lets take this in a positive way.

I didn't see the original post. But it's not like it matters. I try to be a good driver too. However, some people (including me) might think that these "exploits", which I'll choose to call it over cheats, are interesting. Others might need it to compensate for some skill. And contrary to what someone here thinks, you don't have to have a certain amount of skill to deserve this game - I mean, it's not even a hardcore simulator anyway. Others may want it if they have enough skill to gold the event, but with some struggle. That ferrari f2007 is not cheap, and there's a long way there. This exploit might help them get there faster, and more relaxed. Eventhough I do enjoy the setup phase before the event, as I just said: there's a long way.

In online play I agree that it should be clean driving only. Races are not worth it if one of the drivers dont get a clue, and push you or something. As for time trials, I'm not enraged by dirty laps, but I think it's such a shame, as it renders the scoreboards much less accurate.

On at least 2 maybe 3 times, the driver takes up an unsporting driving line making contact with cars and forcing some cars off the road (see review mirror) giving the driver the opportunity to go on to achieve gold.

unsporting, cheating, both or none - Is one any worse than the other... the game lets you do it.

Ok I do get a bit flustered and I apologise for my outburst yet again! but c'mon what the hell is that about? ... comparing me having 2 little taps whilst racing with the AI against racing across grass? You can track through all my replays and I never go off track or cheat ... and btw those AI wanted the same line as me and we negotiated! had it been too much of a bussle then the game would have penalized me for impacts

I see it as you got all over roper's video as if you've never done anything wrong... yet the video posted has you driving in a way that would get a few insults going your way were in an online race (I'm assuming it wasn't), because they're a bit rubbing into and forcing them out of the track.

Is it as extreme as roper's? Definitely not, but it isn't as clean as your reaction to his video would've made us think.

If you had read the post in the video thread you would have seen I explained I was not happy and would clean it up ... it was just a demonstration video of a gold time staying on the track without shortcuts ...

Honestly, guys. Talk about clutching at straws. Do you realise that you are comparing a well known method of cheating at Suzuka that even PD is attempting to plug, to the odd AI touch in a field of 16 cars.
