Yesterday I stumbled upon a German video game magazine from 09/1993. It featured an article about the upcoming Panasonic 3DO:

Now have a look at the graphics I was promised to get in "Road Rash":

Well no, because you can mod Watch Dogs to look like the E3 videos. Also the gulf between those screenshots and what the 3DO was actually capable of is so massive that even now, 20 or so years on, we still don't have anything that looks like that. What we have now are little white lies - different shaders, slightly reduced draw distances and reduced resolution textures - compared to this.
