and the glare effects maybe less exaggerated.

The glare effect is absolutely tooooo much. I'd love it if we could tone it done in settings (as it is possible in photo mode).

1: Dirt/Rain/Snow effects on the car.
This is probably where GT7 looks least realistic. Your car shouldn't look like new after a race. And when driving in the wet in cockpit view, especially when driving behind other cars, there should be a lot more impact on visibility. I want my windscreen dirty and the wipers smearing the dirt, not completely removing it. I would even go further and say that insects should be a thing. (Has any game done this yet?)
Many games like DriveClub or Dirt 4 have much dirtier and more impactful rain effects in the cockpit view, which affect visibility and are visually striking. But it seems to be a conscious decision by Polyphony Digital to limit the effect of raindrops on the windshield for the sake of better gameplay. When they first introduced the first-person view with rain in GT5, the effect was much more realistic (though in low resolution). In the next iteration, GT6, they completely changed it to a sharper effect that was much less obstructive for the player.

I mean if you want realism that bad, why not just cut the "game play" out of the equation altogether and just hit up your local track day. That's always an option.
