I've gotten the penalty for rolling backward or forward on a slight incline. It's super annoying but I usually hold the emergency brake rather than the brake pedal. Just a little easier because you can rev and then just let off the button with your finger.

If you have penalties off, cars won't ghost on the false start.

False start, no penalities, heavy damage, & grip reduction set to real is the only realsitic way to drive. Heavy damage normally scares the lamers away and the room eventually fills with people on the same page. Real grip prevents short cutting and no penaltiea provides animate objects at all times.

I see, so they'll just slow down & cause incidents as people from behind plough into them instead then! Either way it's unrealistic, bring back drive throughs from GT4 is what I say.

No, it makes the good drivers that got caught in the crash to rage and hopefully make the host kick out the last derp driver from the room.
It's called cleansing.
