A question for anyone that has the Fanatec Mclaren CSL Steering Wheel GT3.

I used to be able to look left and right by setting the middle rotary encoder to 'D' using the clutch paddles to look left and right.

However, after I recently did a firmware update on my wheel base and wheel this does not work anymore. Does anyone know how to get this to work again? Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing on the fanatac app?
I would suggest you report this here:

According to Jordan's article on the subject apparently the DD Pro did get the Full Force update. Saying that however, I cannot say I have noticed anything different since the firmware update.
The DD Pro is planned to receive FullForce, but it hasn't yet. It's kind of confusing how this was worded in the press release I received from Fanatec. I'll update my article text so this is more clear.

Finally had the time to do the update with my DD+. Both the uninstall of the old app version and the installation of the new one went flawlessly, as did updating my base, wheels, and wireless QR. Only had time to drive about 30 minutes in iRacing and was using the Indy car, so not sure how big of a difference the additional torque was making, if any. Need to jump on GT7 in a car and settings I'm more familiar with, but I sure was happy everything went smoothly.

Probably the installer inteself; it didn't detect required packages and failed because the supplied versions are older than what you get through windows upadated.

That was certainly a big part of it but a number of both app and FW issues also reported, so if that’s all they address won’t be the end of complaints

Crazy. Like I said above, I just installed it a few days ago without any problems.
I know less than zero about PCs and coding etc., but I always find it wild how so many people have no problems while others do when trying to install/update the same things.

Does anyone know what the benefit of using carbon fiber on the pedals is? Hearing a lot of the price, was due to that material, confused me. I would have been more than happy to pay that price for metal pedals with full force functionality. However, its a bit of a tough pill to swallow without it.

In other news, the upgrade to the DD+ is positively great. For the first time in gt7, the regular cars, are as interesting as the gt3 cars, and the gt3 car’s, even better. The update really made the wheel become the thing, I thought was being purchased, all those years ago when it released. Between the firmware update, and spec III, all of the cars are so much more enjoyable to drive. I know we all have a healthy fear of updating fanatec products, but man, this one was worth it..and then some!

Using CF for the pedals cups - is it the shape complexity and weight maybe vs cast Aluminum? or is it just the look?

I also found the upgrade to 18nm surprising in how good it was for the feel, not so much for to the extra nm but for the changes made to the FFB curves (likely due to what they found for the PDD complaints)

agree it is so much better now, not just in GT7 but also FH5 and F1. The low and mid forces have been emphasized a bit more in relation to the peaks, the quivering seems gone, and not seeing much oscillation, so now back to just 1 setup for all types of tires

I’d recommend it as I had no problems but the DD+ population has some variance in HW quality that seems to affect some people - maybe better to find out and get it swapped while under warranty?

Release Candidate 1.4.3.2 has been removed. It added thermal protection for the DD+ as some units were failing, from I assume running high FFB in a hot environment. Anyone know if its safe to continue using it?

Are you talking about the update to the 18nm version ? Which one did you download exactly, please ?

Yeah. I downloaded the one immediately after the announcement. The fanatec app is version 1.2.1.3. The base says 2.8 and the wheel 10.2 on bootup. Its just hooked up to the ps5 at the moment. If that doesn’t do it for you i can dig out the little windows craptop i use for firmware updates.

*downloaded it may 2nd

PC App v1.4.2.3 made CS DD+ 18Nm with base firmware v2.11.0.2

That’s the version I’m running but only about 60% and doesn’t even get slightly warm

The installer issues were likely the main reason. FW 53% another. Button mapping issues for some wheels or hubs for PS users is another, but if it’s working for you and you think you need thermal protection carry on

I went with 1 .4.3.2 to get the Clubsport Universal Hub v2 buttons mapped properly on ps5. They were messed up with 1.4.2.3
