Some people on Fanatec forum reporting DD Pro shutting down after GT7 patch 1.71🤦‍♂️

@RS60NR:
Tested around a lot with your advise and that's the result.

GT7 Settings:
Vibration = 60
Max Torque = 5
Sen = 2

DD Pro Settings:
SEN=600 (for GT3 cars - AUTO for others)
FFB=100
FUL=23
NDP=20
NFR=2
NIN=off
INT=4
FEI=100
FOR=100
SPR=100
DPR=100

Still not really happy and it's little grainy/clunky here and there, but it's ok and better than before. If I klick up the max torque to 6 or 7 and lower the FOR to 90 or 80 it is better with the graininess but the overall torque is too weak then 🫣 next time I'll try to regulate it with the FFB value maybe I can find the sweetspot.

@peniu: yep, I've had the reported Problems three times while testing the wheelsettings. Everytime it happened I've had higher values in max torque (6, 7 and 8) and FUL Values above 30 together with FOR 100. a restart of the base and turn down the values did the trick. I can drive for hours with the above mentioned settings so far. Hope they'll bring an update soon (game or FW). Maybe the FUL signal overrides the base and is the reason for the mentioned graininess/clunkyness of the DDPro 🤔

Mine is cooked. Waiting to hear from them (here we go...) sent crash logs and such. Flashing blue light of death and I'm exactly one month out of warranty. Can't wait to see what comes of this.
Did you update the firmware to the fullforce version before this happnened? Still holding off updating mine.

I was trying. I wiped everything (drivers and anything fanatec on my PC) and even tried the legacy driver for when things are really borked. All I get is a left turn in game. The wheelbase firmware hangs and loops every time I try and fix it.

Edit to add, I'm pretty much a luddite though so I'm just following the instructions I've found online and don't really know what I'm doing so I could be doing it wrong. I usually can follow directions well for this kind of thing though and don't usually find myself in trouble.

DD Pro Base firmware is now 1.9.1.1.

Have gone ahead and updated everything so hope it works!
I thought I’d updated yesterday (for GT7) and was underwhelmed by full force, only to discover this morning the wheelbase wasn’t actually up to date even though fanatec app said it was, and also said it was up to date but it wasn’t 🙄.
Looking forward to trying it properly now…

Updated my dd pro to latest firmware and now I am experiencing constants disconnects.

If your wheel is functioning on the older firmware, my advice is to leave it as is. There is nothing special about full force.

That's me staying on 455 for the foreseeable then. They really need to get their **** together, then again they've needed to do that for a while when it comes to firmware updates.
I mainly play on PC these days so if my DD Pro ever dies I'll be going elsewhere for a replacement. The wheelbase is the only Fanatec product I still use as I've got a Leoxz wheel and Simnet pedals.

I was playing just now with latest firmware 1.9.1.1 and it was fine until I increased the sensitivity (in game) from 2 to 5, disconnected almost immediately after (max torque on 4, FFB on 100). Rebooted, lowered it back and it was fine again. Tried lowering FFB to 80 and it was then ok with higher sensitivity. I don’t know what to conclude from that but hopefully someone with greater knowledge of the hardware will be able to draw some conclusions.

Very interesting regarding sensitivity. There is clearly some overload protection feature in the base that’s causing these disconnects but how it works and what the limits are is still unknown. Also it seems that while some experience disconnects a few are getting bricked

Since the added holding force as well as full force was added to the CSL DD/Pro the system is now operating much closer to the design limits

Credit to them for making it work but Fanatec has not been doing a great job of consistency in build configuration mgmt, when substituting “equivalent” spec components

Which is what the different user experiences that crop up w each FW release would indicate - whatever testing is being done can’t account for all these variations and whatever units they have are not exactly the same as some that are shipped

Sensitivity setting in GT7 controls the ramp speed for signal changes, 1 being slowest, 10 being fastest. So from the driver side, a steering input produces a much quicker and more immediate repsonse at 10 then 1.

But in reverse, a sharp impact or movement from the game is now causing a much quicker response from the wheel and from your experience, this can cause the protection to activate if its too steep, producing some overload somewhere

Another reason why the recommended setting for sens is 1-2 for DD wheels? The higher range is really to help the older belt and gear drives to feel more lively when turned up

the FFB setting is limiting overall how much force the base will deliver, but we don’t know what the possible max in game is for say a wall hit or big bump. Turning down in the wheel as you noticed is putting a cap on the force to the motor, regardless of how big the peak is, whatever level in game torque is set to, so running below 100% makes sense, and bump up in game if needed

Same might be true for Full Force, as its also making the base work harder - run a bit lower on base

I guess eventually Fanatec will raise the protection limits in FW for most and just RMA the units that are too out of spec but for now turn it down seems best

Thanks for this. This workaround seems to be working for me. Tried both lower sensitivity with ffb at 100 and ffb at 80 with sensitivity at 10.

Thanks!!! 🙏

No worries, pure luck I discovered it, I know very little about settings in general 🤣
