Don’t know what your budget is, but its the DD Pro that’s affected. The added Torque & Full force are causing the HW to run near the limit w settings turned up so they and/or PD need to put in some limiters

The DD+ has plenty of extra headroom if you can swing it and is not affected by this particular issue w the DD Pro
Just on the DD pro - I play with FFB at around 50 on wheelbase and 5 in game, and last night I had FUL on zero, and I still had total loss of force feedback. So nowhere near maxxed out. So the fix suggested by fanatec doesn’t completely solve the problems.

Planning on rolling back firmware today but need to read up on how to do it, what version etc!

Now testing with 100% FullForce and ffb ingame at max, BUT trigger effect turned off in-game. So far works, but need to test longer..

Edit.
Above worked for few hours, but then the base just shut down. I think the issue might not be about FullForce after all, but the increased holding torque. Putting FF to 100 and in-game FFB streght to 10 actually makes FFB more "rattly", and thus the constant holding force is lower. Now I turned wheelbase ffb from 100 to 90 and everything is a lot more smooth and natural. Havent had issues yet with base ffb on 90 - will report back if it stays that way.

I hope I don't curse my setup by saying this but I have not experienced any such disconnections or loss of FFB since the update came out. I'm not saying it's not there as even Fanatec admitted it is an issue, but thankfully I have not experienced it (yet?). I have FullForce at 100 with in-game FFB at 7 and 1.

Fanatec has substituted similiar but supposedly equivalent components in their production runs based on parts availability so some units are right on, others are much closer to the edge on spec, either over or under, but worked fine before

But the new FW w update changes in 1.71 works the base harder, pushing them right up to the design limit - affecting those that really don’t meet spec

Maurice has posted on the Fanatec forum that they understand the issue and are testing a fix for release in the next week or so

Hopefully that will resolve the problem w/o compromising performance too much

What is your FFB setting in the base?

Are these problems only with the GT DD Pro or also with the DD+ ?

Not sure if it's related or just coincidence but I've never had a disconnect on my T598 and since this update I've had 4 in about a week, not been on GT7 for several months but thought I'd give the new tyre model a try. Anyone else had trouble with T598? I'm aware it originally had disconnect issues but I've had the new power adaptor fitted a while ago and everything was working fine.

If you have already replaced the power supply, the issue could be coming from the USB (either the cable or the female port on the base). First, try testing it with another USB cable. If the problem happens again, simply contact the support (for a free repair or replacement): https://support.thrustmaster.com/en/contact-en/

What difference has the simube base-side QR made to you in comparison to the one provided by default by Fanatec?
Update, i had to remove the simube shaft and replace back the original, it had started to smell of TCP so electrics issue, so yeah, shame, also was really hard to remove the wheel so somewhere the machining tolerance was slightly off, real shame and hoepfully i can return it.

So I've caved and bought a CS DD+. Was going to go the Simagic route but figured as I still play GT7 occasionally and have kept the Mclaren GT3 wheel, even though I always use the Leoxz, it would make more sense to stay with a Fanatec wheelbase.
I have to say it's bloody great and fullforce is much better than I expected. Running it at about 12-13Nm at present but the extra strength etc is a game changer. With that, the Simnets and Leoxz wheel I think I've got the perfect setup for me now.

Nice!

personally, that wheel is the best its ever been. Now I’m desperately hoping PD leaves the physics/ffb alone. Lol!

Fanatec and Sony really need a way to update firmware through the Console. They should not assume all users have a PC these days. We're a MacOS house and only play games on PS5. So I have to pull out a really old PC just to do this. It's annoying...

You can run virtual windows machine on MacBook

Well I downloaded the hot fix and started re-tuning my wheel.

It was feeling good until….GT7 completely crashed on me. I haven’t had any crashes in a long time so I hope it was just coincidental and not related to the wheel.

This is just a gut feeling, but after the update I instictively went to turn up the FFB, and had intuivive surprice "oh the settings were already that high". Makes me wonder - did they dial back down the holding torque from 8nm? 🤔

Agree its annoying but I don’t think that would likely happen…Unless they separate FW updates from the app updates

Having to re-install the app each time to upgrade and the same again to downgrade is just soooo tedious and also complicates their own regression testing

A standalone app using the existing driver FW manager code (which is STILL used in the app) that could pull any version of FW from the cloud is the answer. Install once or not often and use as needed

It would simplify the PC side requirements, reduce the compatibility churn, and could easily be ported over to the mac, linux, and even consoles

My view is why can't there be a Fanatec app on the PS5 that does hardware management, much like any other game app. Surely it wouldn't be that hard... Then again..... Sony.

If it were a proprietary Sony peripheral they would be able to manage it via updates as they do with controllers. It was designed originally for PC use and was ported to support PlayStation.
