Honestly, springing for the ClubSport Table Clamp adds more flexibility, such as angle adjusting. AND most importantly for Obutto owners, it moves the wheel about 6-7 inches closer to you. Why does this matter? You'll see.

Yeah, I think there's a decent chance I'll need it but I wanted to try without first so I don't waste money. With my DFGT the seat is about halfway along the slider so who knows.....

I'm glad there are other folks like yourself out there who have already mounted it to the Obutto. I appreciate your input.

Actually, I do have a question : what spec bolts should I pick up to hardmount? I know they're 6mm diameter but is there any other spec to look out for? Thanks.

I thought screws came with the wheel itself, but I think I'm wrong. I did a little poking around and you'll need 4 6mm screws.

It does come with screws...But they are taped inside a piece of cardboard...and would easily be thrown away....My wife Found mine in the trash pile:idea:

Thanks guys. I noticed in the user manual I downloaded that Fanatec state they do not include the screws. I wonder if this is a recent change since obviously some of you have found screws in the packaging. Here is the blurb from section 5.3 of the V2 manual :

"The length of the screws depends on your table so we did not include any screws but you can use standard metrics screws with a diameter of 6mm"

Having read that I wondered if there was anything further I needed to know beyond "standard metric screws". Its not something I shop for frequently and to be honest the selection at places like Lowes/Home Depot can be baffling. Anyways - 6mm metric it is, hopefully there's not much confusion beyond that :)

must be a change...I must say though...the ones they sent with mine were a little short, I am using 3/16 aluminum and I counter sunk the holes...but any thicker and they would be no good. good luck and thanks for the info.

Do you happen to know what length screws they included in your shipment? (A guess is fine - don't go removing a screw to measure or anything like that !!). If I know that I'll start there and get some a little longer too. The Obutto tray is quite thin so I don't need anything too long.

Did not measure them with a set of Verniers...but I would say they are 7/16" long with a tapered head...But I know Jerkin John baught some so he might be able to give you a little more insight. I could have safely used 9/16" long for my application

When mounting the wheel. Is it possible for the screws, if long enough, to foul anything inside the wheel.
Or do the holes bottom out.

Thanks to anyone who knows.

I my order came with a bag of screws, I wasn't sure which box it was taped to the lid of :(

When shopping for stuff like castanets, I always get some help with their "deep blue sea" of stuff.

I never got screws when I got my GT3 in the mail. Though my dad used 6mm bolts and washers to mount the wheel to my homemade wood stand.

Wanted to post this...Inspired by Johns pic.....The Lighting sucks so I had to use flash, but you get the idea.

Just go my wheel today!! it took exactly a week to get it. Cant wait to get my playseat gt5 edition (which is actually waiting for me to get picked up at the post office but i dont have a car right now) to hook it all up and try it out, never had a wheel before :D

Gezz, I go back to work and look at all I have missed! lol... Have no access to PC at work except my droid but that's a PITA.

Anyhow, my wheel did not come with the hard mounting screws! I practically ate the box looking for them and no dice! Just thought I would mention it.

Yes it is! They do not bottom out! I was going threw 3/4 plywood and a little bit of low pile carpet so I went with 1 1/4" 6mm screws and I was good to go! If the Obutto mounting plate is say 3/16 or 1/8" then I would recommend no more than an inch long to be on the safe side.

They had 1" 6mm at the hardware store down the street but they where a little to short for my application.

That looks totally bad a&@ my friend! Great job and isn't way better that way???

I really wish I could do the triple monitor mount but my current situation it wouldn't be the best time right now. But it's coming sooner or later that's for sure!

If this job I'm on has any longevity to it I will be making some more upgrades. I'm in the union trades and things are very dicey with work right now.

Frex diff shifter, 2 more monitors and maybe just maybe the T500 to see what all the fuss is about. I'm very happy with the GT3 though.

Just love toy's :sly:

Thanks guys....Another 5 hours behind the wheel and no problems at all, and I have been looking for stuff....I now have s-1 thru 3 all programed for dif cars on GT5...Did I mention how much I love this thing?

Hi, long time lurker and owner of a gt3 rs v2 with csp.

A little temporary mod i did for extra cooling for longer races is to add one of those USB laptop coolers that are available form places like ebay.

I took the legs off and used some velcro to attach it to the base of my wheel and wheel stand pro. The 2 fans measure perfectly to go in the gaps where the table clamp went.

Tbh i doubt the heat is a problem, but this is me just being careful and tbh i only used for when i am gaming for more than an hour or so.

Other than that i have owned my wheel for around 6 months and still looks and feels like new.

But then this happened :

They say "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy".

It's time to test that theory in reverse. I should be a genius by the next time you hear from me :)

What is that small package on the box? Is it screws from fanatec?

That's F1 2010. It just happened to arrive at the same time :)

I actually DID get screws in the box but they are pretty much useless. The Obutto tabletop is quite thin but even then these screws don't look long enough to comfortably get a good grip on the threads inside the wheel casing. I don't want to take any chances to so I'm gonna go get some slightly longer screws to mount it.

Mounting it is a challenge on the Obutto without the clubsport table clamp. The problem for me is that if I had the patience to order and wait for the clubsport table clamp (which I certainly don't!!) the wheel would then be too close to me to allow me to use the Obutto pedal tray. Instead I think I have figured out a way to enhance the existing clamp and use 2 of the 4 hardmount points to secure it in the right spot. I'll get back with some pics when I get it done. Right now I need to go pick up some lunch and the right length screws.

Stay tuned ......

I have edge of the pedals right on the edge (closest to me) of the pedal plate. With the G25 I was about 1.5 inches from the front.

Table clamp is a good thing.

👍 Let me know how you like F1 2010. I was thinking of picking that one up myself! I hear it's got a great career mode.

Which box did the screws come in that you are speaking of? Because the CSP's come with a bag of screws so you can either have the spacer blocks behind the pedal pads or not and the optional screws are very short.

The only screws that came in my wheel box were the ones for the optional shifter paddles.

On another note: I am finally behind the wheel after a horrible night last night. While racing in a race with iRacing I got an incredibly strong pain in my belly. After all night at the hospital ( A long night ) come to find out I have a 3mm kidney stone! ( Ouch )

But when the doc came in my room and told me I thought to myself "that's half the size of the screws I used to mount my wheel" lol...

On the road to recovery now 👍

Now that you mention it - they did come in the pedal box so that explains why they would not work for mounting the wheel.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Hope they can take care of it fast for you. Good luck !!

Right now I have the wheel mounted with just 2 of the 4 possible screws and it feels very solid. I haven't driven with it yet but I'll try that before adding the clamp. It looks cleaner without it.

More to come.......

WOW!!!

Just got done with installation and setup and took my newly acquired M3 GTR around the ring for a few laps. I absolutely cannot believe the difference versus the DFGT this replaced. Where do I start ??

OK - so the wheel itself feels really great. The rim is thicker and feels very comfortable. I want one in my real car! I think the raised bumps on the back of the wheel help add to the realism and the alcantara finish is very very nice. I mounted the curved paddles provided with the wheel and they are perfectly placed and feel good in use. The "click" you get shifting is quite muted versus the DFGT which again I feel is more realistic.

I believe my initial settings are what the ISR team recommended in their review but I'll have to verify that and perhaps tweak them further as I get more wheel time. As-is it feels amazing so I might not touch anything! My only real concern when ordering this wheel was the comments I have read here and elsewhere that there is less force feedback than the DFGT I was already using. I don't know if I got a particularly strong FF motor but I had to turn it down after starting with FF at 100 on the wheel and 10 in the game. I used to drive the DFGT with the game set at 7 and the 100/10 initial setting on the Fanatec felt a lot more powerful. I stopped halfway around the ring and adjusted the wheel setting to 70. Now it feels fantastic. I did a 7'05" on my third lap in the GTR without feeling like I was pushing. Of course, I just got the car so I don't know what kind of laptimes I should expect but nonetheless I was happy with that right out of the gate. The really cool part was that although I didn't feel like I was pushing at all, I did notice that I was hitting more apexes and using more of the road on exit. That can only be the wheel having an immediate impact.

Now the brake pedal. OH. MY. GOD. Enough said.

;)

Well ok - maybe not really enough said. It feels like a real brake pedal. That's the simple truth. It is so easy to dial in brake pressure and the ABS vibration feature is really cool too. I had a funny moment about midway through my second lap at the ring. I was thinking to myself that this doesn't really feel a whole lot different to what I was already accustomed to.....hmmmm. Then it hit me - in my head I was comparing this to driving a real sports car :) Un-freakin-believable. Of course that's overkill but the experience gets an awful lot closer to the real thing than I would ever have imagined. Perhaps the best way I can describe it is that the whole thing feels very analog. You are rarely if ever reminded that you are in fact playing with a toy in a digital virtual world. It feels smooth, powerful, engaging and most of all pretty damn realistic.

OK - that's enough drivel, got some more driving to do. Here is a quick pic of the upgraded setup.
