Far Cry 3

I got this for Christmas and I can't believe how much FUN it is. The first time you take over an output by yourself using stealth alone is awesome. It's a bit like JC2 but you have to actual give an assault some thought, whereas JC2 would be completed with a kick the doors in approach.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get around the glitch where you can't get the Ripper on a second playthrough? I did two Rakyat trials, then restarted the game to play it in a different way, and now it won't register that I've all done 7 challenges on the North (presumably only counting the 5 that I hadn't done on the first playthrough.

I need me some goats to make rucksacks and holsters. But I cannot find any :(

When are you allowed to craft holsters for the 3d and 4th weapon you can carry.

I have one holster now, and doing the mission where I have to burn the weed fields. That is just not doable with a simple singular holster, or is it?

Never mind. Found one or two. Now I need another skin from a deer to craft a 3 slot holster. Very different than any other game I played. I think I will take the time to craft some handy things. The story has to wait for a few days.

Fun game. Deep and satisfying.

Just unlocked a 50 cal sniper rifle and it makes taking over outposts a lot simpler.

The signature with exploding rounds?

If so... Shoot the engine block of vehicles... Boom.

@Marcom The map shows the location of all animals; if you don't see something then climb some more towers.

It's better to focus on hunting/crafting/exploring first; makes the rest a lot easier (not to mention more fun).

Just sad that the AMR doesn't have a silencer... :sly:

Yeah I figured that out now. I am hunting, or let's say trying to hunt. I need one more deer to craft a new holster that carries 3 weapons. That will come in handy with the weed plantage mission, or any mission for that matter.

Good game Ubisoft!

And you have just got to love that loud noise...

EDIT: the weed field mission also has random ammo stockpiles and health packs in the huts, so expect a fight.

So I noticed that in the UK version at least, the information on the Seagull has accidentally been replaced with one of the Hidden Letter texts. It makes it incredibly creepy.

That's absolutely hilarious!

No, it's absolutely correct. Ever played AC? I guess not.

Armoured Core? Yes.
Assassin's Creed? Yes.
Assetto Corsa? No.
I can't think of any more. I guess you mean Assassin's Creed but I don't recall seagulls being a thing?

Connor could fly around like a seagull in the debug/beta version. Ok to be fair, most people never heard about it even if they played it. Far Cry has many sidekicks to other ubisoft games, especially AC. The templers were on the far cry 3 island, but you need the lost expeditions or insane edition to see it. Search on youtube for prototype lab.

Gotta say I am absolutely addicted to this game, I wasn't expecting much at all after far cry 2. They have nailed it, I'm playing it on the Xbox and the only problem I have with the game is the slight drops in frame rates when it get hectic.

It's a lot easier than FC2 with all of the tagging assists - but I do agree, it is stupendous fun. I know people who have over 300 hours clocked up already :)

Find a jeep with a gun and take it to the periphery, shoot the first few, burn fields, move it down to where you can use it as backup and then rinse and repeat...you are at higher vantage points for each section if you come in from the road.

The toughest part is aiming while stoned.

will try that approach. At least I will have unlimited ammo in some occasions.

The village at the beach.... does it spawn unlimited enimies? It seems so.

It spawns a lot but doesn't respawn them. You need to get to the pier and stop the boat.
A soon as you burned the weed fields, run to the left over the hill and then swim to the pier. Arrived at the pier, kill the few enemies there and take the rpg. Stay in cover behind the little house on the pier and easily shoot the boat. When you've done that, jump into the sea and swim away.

I'm playing this alongside my friend and we were working through it together, but I had to go back to work, and he stayed at home for the week, so now he's finished the story.
We have been using a silenced AMR.

From memory it's either a special weapon, like the shredder, or we customized it ourselves, I forget....

I'm not 100% that it's called an AMR, but it loox exactly the same in both the menu screen/selection screen and on-screen and it fires .50cal bullets.

SsshhhHH!!! Be wary quiet......

I'm hunting Cassowarys........

:trouble:👍

The signature weapons are customized guns which are already in the game as regular version. The AMR fires explosive rounds and is much stronger than the Z93.
All signature weapons: http://www.ign.com/wikis/far-cry-3/Signature_Weapons

AMR gameplay:

Pretty much all signature weapons are overpowered in my eyes. And yes I got them all.

Patches have been announced: Ubi forums announcement

It seems we will be able to reset the outposts so that they respawn, amongst other things :)

More patches to follow too.

Have these changes been implemented yet? I can't see an option to reset the outposts?

Got my first platinum with FC3 yesterday. :)

You can apparently only reset the outposts after you have completed the playthrough you are on, so it's a limited sort of reset. I'll see if I can dig up the patch notes and edit them in here later.

Well done on the plat 👍

EDIT: The link is already in my post above, but here's the relevant info:
• After conquering all the outposts and completing the game, the player can reset the outposts by selecting “Reset Outposts” in the gameplay options menu.
• Doing this will reset and make all Outposts hostile again. All incomplete side missions and quests will become hidden. In order to finish the incomplete side missions, you will have to retake the outposts again.

I'm guessing the game has updated though. I can't get onto PSN so don't know yet.
