You can apparently only reset the outposts after you have completed the playthrough you are on, so it's a limited sort of reset. I'll see if I can dig up the patch notes and edit them in here later.

Well done on the plat 👍

EDIT: The link is already in my post above, but here's the relevant info:

I'm guessing the game has updated though. I can't get onto PSN so don't know yet.

Ah thanks, I read the article but couldn't have been paying attention. :).

My first platinum aswell, Although i have had only 1 trophy left to get on both BF3 And Dirt3 for a while now. :D.

You'll get them then. D3 I didn't manage to nail - just that damn bobsleigh challenge (plus some of the gymkhana stuff) and BF3 has too many MP trophies, like Dice always do. Nice one.

I've had an urge to retake the outposts ever since I exhausted much of what the single-player mode had to offer, although I haven't tried the Lost Expeditions yet.

So getting the chance to do them again without restarting is great since it was one of the most enjoyable parts of the game. I've been hoping to try and take more them out undetected than I did in my first playthrough.

That's always the added challenge. I'm trying to take as many as I can unnoticed and without using the camera to tag their positions - trouble is on the highest difficulty (pre-patch) a few outposts have as many as seven attack dogs.

The Lost Expeditions are a bit different - quite reminiscent of Uncharted with regards to atmosphere and visuals, plus the eastern-most one has a couple of puzzles thrown in.

Yeah, A quick look on the Ubi forums suggests its yet to be released. With no expected date either.

That's probably because the patches will have to be submitted to Sony/MS for approval first. Once they can submit, they're likely to have a better idea of actual release date.

There was also mention of further patches, so it's likely an ongoing thing.

Yeah, Im aware they have to be submitted for approved first. Still as the patch details were released on the 18th of last month. I thought we would have had an indication of when the patch would appear by now.

You would have thought so...hence my assumption that the patch had subsequently arrived during my down-time.

Ah well, maybe one day soon...

Well the patch arrived, on PC anyway, today. I've seen the option to reset outposts in the options but unfortunately you do have to finish the game first, which is a shame because I really, really do not get on with this story. It's atrociously predictable, samey and designed to appeal to the 420dudebro demographic, which is in itself predictable and I guess I just have to accept that not all games are made for me, I just wish those games weren't so much fun when you're on a narrative-free romp across an archipelago, setting fire to leopards and slashing pirates all the way up. Still, I'm far more than halfway through so I might just stick it out for the couple of hours it'll probably take.

The story missions alone can be done in a relatively short span of time - though of course there is the richness of open-world exploration which you'll miss out on. Mind you, it'll still be there for the next playthrough :)

That's the thing, I've done basically everything except for the supply drops (only done one), relics (about 45), trials (6 left), story missions and the other quests. I've done pretty much everything else and if I could reset the outposts now I totally would just so I could have some fun with random encounters as well as experimenting with different outpost takeover tactics... But I have to grind past the story missions first. It's just really jarring how at odds they are with the rest of the game.

Yeah, I know what you mean, it will force you to do a story mission after a while if you stray too close to the objective during your travels - seems like an odd choice.

I'm not actually clear if setting the respawn to on after the game is over, will carry over to a new playthrough - if so, we're all going to have the same problem: ie - a decreasing supply of pirates/privateers (which I always though was a different name for the same thing...) until the end. I hope it'll be on or off throughout.

The patch for PS3 and Xbox is now live - some of the changes once more to save searching back a page or so:

Based on community feedback gathered by the Far Cry 3 team, the features added or tweaked by this patch are an on-going effort to respond to players and give them more reasons to re-visit Rook Islands, to improve their skills with tougher challenges, and to re-discover the Far Cry 3 world. These new elements include:

SINGLE PLAYER:

- Outposts reset: after the end of the game, players can choose to reset the liberated outposts to face the challenge to take them over again

- A new difficulty setting: Players who have completed the campaign can restart the adventure on MASTER difficulty, with more challenging enemies and dangerous wildlife

MULTIPLAYER

- Map Beta Test: Map makers can now start a beta test to monitor how their map is being played using the new spectate feature and regular players are enabled to provide better feedback to help map makers improve their projects.

- Maps by author: Players will be able to show all the maps created by an author

- Idle kick: The feature that kicks out idle players during a MP match is removed from custom and private matches

- The Skip map voting system has been improved with more visibility and time to cast the vote

- A new mini-game called The Grid has been added to the Outpost website and smartphone apps.

That's great. I'm resetting all of my out posts tonight.

I decided tonight's the night I grind through the end of the story. I'm on the penultimate mission now, the one I've just done was the most tedious thing I've 'played' through since Black Ops, I came close to alt-F4ing! Still, that's done, hopefully the last two missions will be something I can actually play. Hah.

Edit: Nope. I think I gave myself brain damage from all the eye rolling. On the plus side: Reset outposts!

I just recently bought this game. Pretty fun so far. Kinda breezed through the beginning. Might up the difficulty next time.

Apparently this is actually a real thing. It looks amazing. The lead character's name is Sergeant Rex Power Colt. It sounds delightfully mad.

"The year is 2007. It is the future. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going on."

Man, I really hope this isn't a late April Fool or something.

The trailer originally appeared on April 1st but this subsequent info is later. April Fools is only valid until midday - so it should be good. I wonder why it's called FC3 though as it seems to have nothing to do with the original story.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure if it was a prank they would have said so by now. I wonder if it's DLC or a PSN-sized downloadable. It's not likely to be an entirely new game, surely if it was they would've just called it Far Cry: Blood Dragon...

Good point.

Looks like a project they may have had running to chill out on while doing FC3, something mad and open to help keep them creative.

Looks like its a standalone game, out on the 1st of May and it might feature Michael Biehn's voice.

Working on some of the trophies now, next up the zipline kill and 4 in a single explosion ( I think).

Currently on the south island, so will have to stir up some trouble at one of the outposts (have the uniform).

if youre wearing the uniform, you wont stir up much trouble chef......

:irked:👍

Damn, I'm too late again...:) My fault for starting to play Lego City Undercover too absorbing...

It looked utterly mental.

Big, bright and bold colour scheme, with a load of very OTT '80's action movie nonsense around the dialog, the loading screen was a 'tracking' bar (those who can remember VHS will know what I mean) and the funniest tutorial section I've ever seen.

Seriously can't wait for this, its so wonderfully '80s its brilliant, but looks like a well put together package as well.

Bugger all link to FC3 apart from the name however.

quick 4mins is back up

Trailer has DRAGON with lasers!!!!
